  1. I hope he threw it back seems to be contaminated with "GHT" !!! If anyone has seen the Miller lite comericals they should get that.
  2. I have a special crankbait that has been a ticket to a few of my tournament fish. Something inside my head told me to take some pictures in case I lost it that way i could hopefully get some more. Just my luck today i lost it :'(. I am including some pictures to show the color and pattern. I have some crankbaits that the paint is coming off and i was wondering if i sent them to a specialist lure painter ;D if they could try to match them for me. Please PM me if you can help.
  3. I started fishing the Jayhawk Bassmaster series this year here in Kansas. I wasn't sure what to expect and I think i'm starting to be recognized because of my accomplishements with only 2 tournaments down and 4 to go. So far it has been a blast the guys are great and very helpful and freindly. The first tournament was at Milford April 22 it was a tough tourney the weather was nasty the wind blew and there were 7-8 foot waves by the end of the day. I ended up with one fish a 2.89 largie caught on a black tube texas rigged which was good enough for 2nd place and Big Bass on the non-boater side which got me 2 checks for a combined total of 400 roughly. The second tournament was at Milford today June 10 the fishing was a little better non-boaters are allowed 3 fish for weigh-in. I had my 3 keepers by 10 and i culled one along with several shorts most of my fish we caught on a beaver c-rigged and a couple on a crankbait. Also I landed a walleye, and a white bass. I ended up with 6.03 which placed me 2nd again and a check for 330. I am all pumped for the next tournaments we have El Dorado June 24th, Wilson July 15th, then a 2 day tourney August 25 and 26th. If you live in or around Kansas you should come fish these are great events they are well ran and everyone is very freindly.
  4. Yep got some Free Root Beer Floats here in Manhattan, KS. I backed my truck into a stall and sat there on my truck bed drinking floats and talking to the car hop gals there were a couple really cute ones, i offered to take them fishing and one said YES !!! ;D Might have to take a night fishing trip ;D. And of course i'll take pictures of the fish we catch.
  5. I watched the littlle interview and what a bunch of *****. I do have one question would that be for boats that are used in both fresh and salt water? Personally boats that are used only in freshwater i don't think would need a permit , for example me in Kansas, i doubt i will ever put my boat on the ocean, so that d**n permit would just cause me a headache. I don't see the law getting passed just my opnion.
  6. I just switched to fireline here recently i started with a spool of 10 pound line on 2 spinning reels. I have about 20-30 yards of monofilament then put on the fireline, i wet all my knots and always keep an eye on my line for fraying and bad spots since i'm fairly new to it. So far it has out performed my old line i can cast 2 times further, i can feel everything and it's very sensitive and I HAVE NOT HAD one knot break. I pulled up half a tree the other day which i was very impressed with. The only thing i dislike about the fireline is how it buries itself if you set the hook hard and it just turns out to be a log or rock. I decided to get another spool of 14 and put it on 2 baitcasters and give it a shot.
  7. Same thing with my boat i do have the bearing buddies they have been greased on a regular basis and seem to be in good shape, when i purchased the boat i walked beside the axle of the trailer listening for scratching or scraping and didn't hear anything, it did make the 3.5 hour trip home and there weren't any hot spots either.
  8. ;D That isn't a sheep in its belly thats the poor soul that tried to rig it. ;D
  9. Great fish looks really healthy. ;D
  10. Took the boat out to a local county lake this evening there were people eveywhere along shore and 6 boats out on a 250 acre lake mine the biggest. ;D Caught fish on everything I threw topwater, crankbait, jig, Skirted Grub, ended up with around 15 fish and a nice tan. Here's some of the better fish of the evening.
  11. Got some much needed rain here in Kansas here are some pictures i took from around the Manhattan area where i live. The first is looking over the bridge that i drive over heading to work, the water is roughly 3 times higher than the usual river itself and still rising. The next two pictures are of a walkway with water on both sides usually water is only on the right side the only time water is on the left is if there is more than 3000 cfs of water being let out or if we get lots or rain in a short amount of time. As you can tell the water is still rising the pictures were taken roughly 4 hours apart. And last but not least this is a picture of the water left of the walkway which is usually dry. The lake is also expected to rise 20-30 feet but they won't be letting much out very soon since of the flooding which is causing problems downstream.
  12. Had a couple hours after work the other day and with a turkey tag in my pocket figured i better get it filled so i can concentrate on fishing. I was walking along a creek and seen the bird strutting up ahead along the trees about 500 yards ahead. Wearing my old sneakers i walked in the cold creek about 400 yards then climbed the bank and peeked over some bushes and seen him strutting about 100 yards away. Quickly i set up, and pulled out my mouth call gave a few yelps he gobbled and ran straight at me stopping a mere 15 yards away, he then puffed up and strutted right in front of me !! I started shaking my gun still layed on my lap, he finally turned away from me i grabbed my gun shouldered it gave a few more clucks he lifted his head up BOOM. Ended up with one of the best gobblers i have taken so far i was very proud.
  13. The storm front was still present so i'm guessing that there was cloud cover or maybe some rain?? I would probably start by throwing some topwater I always enjoy watching them bust a topwater. If the water was clear i would have checked out some beds see how many fish i could spot bedded if most the beds were empty i would probably find some deeper water with cover and throw a spinnerbait, crank and when i did bump into some cover maybe a jig or soft plastic. I know you caught a 6 pound fish but could it possible be that the lake is over populated with smaller fish? Sounds like a great spot abundant timber and weeds nice. Congrats on your fish and 30-35 bass even being 12-14 inches would be great fun.
  14. Is this a brand new trolling motor you just bought or is it a few years old??
  15. I'm in Manhattan.
  16. The store was in Lawrence and the name was Bargain Bind or Bargain Cave or something like that on 23rd street.
  17. Made a trip to BOTH BPS and Cabelas today needed a few items and got alot more than I expected. First stop was at Cabelas I picked up 2 shimano reels one a symetre and the other a sedona along with 2 shimano rods both with lifetime warranties which for me i can't pass up. Then off to BPS I picked up some line, a few soft plastics, a couple shirts, and spot jig heads. Headed back home i told my buddy there was a SECRET store I was interested in stopping by that had a little tackle. Once through the door the baitmonkey had taken over there was a table full of milk crates stuffed with soft plastics for sale at A DOLLAR a bag (YES A DOLLAR A BAG) . I walked out with 187 baits i ended up with Gambler soft plastics, Chompers (WHICH STILL HAD THE 6 DOLLAR STICKER ON THEM) zoom, flw plastics, lake fork tackle and some other brands. I even checked with the owner about the price .....turned out to be correct never seen the bait monkey so happy. ;D

I am interested in buying some bulk baits for bass fishing, worms, brush hogs, beavers. Does anyone know of a good website to buy bulk baits from? Or is there someon on the Bass board here that could make me some baits? Would be willing to work something out. If anyone has a good website or other information it would be a appreciated. Thanks Matt
  19. 70 degree temperatures last week and now 30 and 40 degree temperatures :-[with lots of wind. Went out today roughly 40 degrees with wind blowing out of the North West at 10-15. The water was around 50-55 degrees and stained visibility about a foot. I was SLOW ROLLING a 3/8 ounce black/red spinnerbait with a colorado blade through timber and brushpiles. The fish hit like they hadn't eaten in years every one almost ripped the rod out of my hands. Even with the cold weather i still had to give the fishing a try glad I did hopefully i'll be able to get out tomorrow a throw a jig around since i didn't have any with me today.
  20. The boat is a Stratos about 17 feet long with a 150, the boat does have hypertrim. The boat is completly empty except for some tackle and rods. I am hoping to take the boat out this weekend and might see what happens by moving the knob a little. I do not have a jackplate either.
  21. Fellows got another question i got my boat loading problem under control thanks to you all for all the help. Now my next big QUESTION my boat runs great and gets on plane fast, once on plane it tends to pull to the right looks like there is an adjuster knob right above the prop do i need to loosen up the nut and reposition the knob? Would that help with the boat pulling to the right.
  22. I have used both pflueger medalist and Okuma Epixor spinning reels i love both reels but i always tend to get knicks in the bail arms which just drives me crazy and creates headaches after my line breaks while fighting fish or i'll whip a bait and give it a good throw and i've had the line break and my bait go flying. I tried some silicon but it just wore off or the line cut through the silicon. I'm not for sure Larry but one of my thoughts is that i hold the line with my finger then reel in some and hold the line with my finger feeling for that bite. Don't take my word but i belive when we set the hook the line tightning up might be strong enough to bite into the bail arm? That's the only conclusion i can come too since i always close my bails by hand.
  23. Hey Guys what spinning reels have you been most impressed with ? I have owned several brands and i have the same problem with them all, my line always tends to cut into the bail arm and create notches which then tear my line apart :'(. I am looking for suggestions on a good reliable reel to try any help will be appreciated.
  24. When i put my boat on the trailer i had the engine trimmed all the way down then before we pulled it out i trimmed it up so the motor didn't bounce ;D. I have seen it happen first hand not pretty, maybe that might have been part of my problem was that i wasn't trimmed up? Just like riding a bike ever time i go out i learn something new and hopefully it gets easier with each trip. Can't thank everyone here enough
  25. Hey thanks fellas maybe this next time will be just as smooth as unloading.
