  1. I've caught some big catfish on jigs and plastic worms it's a big rush thinking i have a huge bass then a big cat shows up ;D.
  2. I'd have to say carolina rig would be my worst the only way i can feel a bite is if they take off running 500 MPH the other way.
  3. Went out to a state lake this past weekend for a little early father's day outing. We caught some fish but nothing like in the past. One thing i did notice is that the weeds underwater looked brown and some even dead! Could this be cause by low oxygen levels, pollutants, bad soil? Even the lily pads didn't look well some were dead and discolored badly. Anyone got any ideas what might be going on ?
  4. Sorry you'll only get a free lure outa that deal. However i did see someone on bass saturday catch a fish in shallow water the fish broke his line and after he re-tied he seen his line floating pulled on it and actually landed the fish by hand and it counted towards his limit.
  5. Well now that i'm out of college ;D and have a full time job ;D the bait-monkey usually has my pay checks spent in advance not really. I usually spend 100-150 dollars a month last month was closer to 400 though a couple reels and an assortment of tackle. The main problem is when bass pro or other companys send me emails or catalogs with clearance specials it's like christmas and i just can't help myself.
  6. Draining your lake ? Sounds like the perfect time to install some fish attractors. ;D
  7. I agree with Raul I take a bunch of little bits of information. What is the water temp? What is the weather like? How clear/dirty is the water? What kind of cover? TIme of year? What kind of bass i'm fishing for smallmouth/largemouth? How hard/soft the wind is blowing? I have many things i analyze and try to stick them together to figure out step one. ;D After that i then rig up multiple baits that i believe will produce fish for the given conditions and i constantly keep changing rods to give the fish multiple baits and hopefully start to find a pattern. Sometimes the pattern comes quick and other times it may take all day the main thing i believe is PATIENCE and NEVER GIVE UP the worst days may teach you the most.
  8. For smallmouth a 21.5" fish that earned me big bass honors at our first club tournament caught off a Gene Larew 4.5" Mega Ring Shad. Largemouth bass was a 4 pound fish caught off a 4.5" Gene Larew skirted ring tube.

Great to have another KANSAS angler on board welcome ;D
  10. I have used a Zoom chartreuse dye marker on my plastic baits for the past year now and sometimes see a big improvement maybe cause they haven't seen anything like it before. Just wondering if anyone else uses the markers and seen an improvement. Also has anyone tried the dip-n-glow? It looks like it could be a big mess if spilled since being in a bottle.
  11. Wow gaters in colorado never would have thought .... sorry to hear about the river :'(
  12. Fishing docks can be great way to catch bass some people will drown christmas trees and other items to create cover for fish under their dock it seems the docks with rod holders attached have more cover around them. Also during the summer months when it's hot out try fishing around docks the shade it creates can attract fish because of the cooler water during the hot months.
  13. 1. Jig N Pig crawfish color 2. Slow presentation dragging, hopping then let it sit awhile 3. 10 feet slightly stained water 4. Secondary points with deeper water close by 5. Rocky banks with large rock and brush piles Instinct
  14. Watching a program on the new E-Tec motor .........No maintenance for like 3 years !! Better gas mileage =longer running times !! No belts or moving parts to break !! No break in period !! No oil changes !! Lower emissions output !! They weighed two 150 HP engines the verado which weighed 528 and the E-Tec 427 !! Now is it just me or does the E-Tec seem too good to be true??
  15. Anyone else heard about Ike and Ranger. I seen on another message board that Ranger dropped its sponsorship of IKE...??Here's a link to the page..http://www.another site/docktalk.asp?archive=c Wonder how long till he has a sponsorship with another boat company..?
  16. Favorite tv show: Angler on Tour (i think) and BASS Saturdays are AWESOME Favorite: Magazine Bassin Website: THIS ONE- the place where anglers share secrets, success stories, tips, and even brag a little to motivate the rest of us to performe better......or me at least.
  17. Hey looks good to me.....just hope the fish like it as well... ;D....i've never tried painting any of my own baits yet......is it really that difficult..? I watched basscenter the other day and on bass tech they showed how to spray paint baits and also used a air brush to paint em...looks like lots of fun. Got a question? Is there any way to take my old crankbaits remove the bait and paint them myself..??
  18. That was some really cool information they got by tracking the bass. Also i thought that it was interesting how the two smaller bass actually switched brush piles one day that was very interesting to me. One thing that i wonder is why the big bass swam up the river so far food ? maybe the barametric pressure changing....if so why didn't the smaller bass move...?... or maybe he knew he was being tracked and wanted to confuse fisherman? Can't wait till tomorrow BASS saturday, and it's darn cold so it'll be a great day to watch tv.
  19. My goto bait probably a tube bait or jig, till the water warms up a little more we keep having these darn cold spells in kansas after 4-5 days of 50-60 deegree weather .
  20. When i first arive at a new fishing spot. I'll check the clarity, look for different stucture and structure changes, weather conditions, and also the water temp. If i know that i will be fishing a new lake ahead of time i'll check out other fishing reports from anglers and also look at a map if possible and get an idea of what the depths are around the lake.
  21. Before i went off to college i fished a local lake all the time in my hometown every chance i got. When the fish were spawning not only did i catch some of my biggest fish out of the lake but also enjoyed the challenge of getting them to bite out of either reaction or protection. When i did catch a fish on a bed i released it ASAP and then after a few minutes would see it come back to the bed as if nothing had happened. I never tried to catch a fish more than once on a bed since our lake was heavily fished and aways practiced catch and release.
