  1. I love to T-rig a Rage Craw!!! Watermelon Pumpkin! But when everything fails, Rapala Original Floater. This will always land fish!!! I don't know why, but it never fails me.
  2. Study bass habit and study the lake. Don't try to fish for loner, find the pack and fish them. Like the pro's said, there will only be 5% were the fishes are hanging out on the Lake and 95% is empty.
  3. I had mine for close to 2 years and I sold them off. It's like I said, they wear out braided line fast. I know for a fact because I have other baitcasting rod with larger micro guide and it doesn't wear them out the same way. I'm sure you notice it when you put in new line and cast it a couple of time. You can see the color and wax start to come off and stick on that white pole. Especially if you were using Green. You'll notice it close to the micro guide were you see the fiber of the braided line being teared. I don't see this on any other larger micro guide rod that I use. Again, those micro guide are also bad for leader.
  4. As I said it before, Duckett rods aren't that good. The micro guide are too small. For some odd reason, they seem to wear out braid line fast. Tying a leader is also bad too.
  5. I love my 201E. Bought them when they were going out and got them for $100. Sorry, i'm a lefty. I just don't see a point in switching hand. I've paired them with my new St.Croix Legend Tournament rods after I got rid of my Duckett rods.
  6. Unlike some of us, we are not as smart as SirSnookalot who said, it's just a rod and reel and he learn it as a beginner fisherman with no one teaching him without any knowledge of it being hard at all. Even to untangle the Dreaded Backlash. Here's some tip on not getting backlash. Don't force the cast and cast it side way for starter. What I mean is to turn your reel side way when you cast it. Learn to pause the reel with your thumb. Here's how to set up your bait cast reel.
  7. Yeah and I'm sure both off you are beginner fisherman just eagerly wanting to cast a baitcasting reel.
  8. At what part does it not make sense to you? I am merely speaking the truth! Have I said that you can't pitch a spinning reel! I've only mention that it's better on a baitcast reel. Again, it is true if you give a beginner a baitcast reel and they will shy away from it! Only those who really want to learn it will lean toward learning it. Like I said, I never mention that Spinning reel are not great for advance fisherman. I merely stated that it's great for beginner and intermediate because those fisherman are the one that don't normally want to deal with Baitcast reel and it's dreaded backlash. If there was no internet and no youtube, I wouldn't be casting a baitcast reel! Who's going to teach me how to properly set it up and cast it without backlash! Who's going to teach you how to untangle a backlash! I'm sure you have a lot of money learning to cut and cast. This is why I said baitcast reel is not for beginner.
  9. Palomar is the best, don't switch your knot.
  10. I love Bass too much to eat them. If I wanted a fish to eat fish that I can catch then it'll be Crappies, Perch, and Walleye.
  11. One has advantage and other doesn't. Baitcast reel is better for pitching. It's hard to cast finest or very light lure on Baitcast reel. Baitcast causes backlash if you're a beginner. You would hate it so much that you might want to stick to spinning reel, but if you just stick with it and educate your thumb and get a better reel. You'll like the feel and cast a lot more then a spinning reel. You can cast more accurately and you won't have to worried about line twist from Mono and FLC. You can also use heavier line set-up with Baitcast reel and cast better with it too. Spinning reel is better for light or finest lure. Spinning reel just plain out suck with mono and FLC. Memory just causes all sort of tangle. If you land a heavy fish with a finest set-up. Your line will just twist like mad pulling it back in and you might as well just re-line it. Unless you put in Braids, then it's a whole new story. To cast farther and smoother, you need a more expensive spinning reel. You also need to learn how not to get wind knot. That means watching your bail and how it close so your line doesn't over run causing the wind knot. Spinning reel are great for beginner to intermediate fisherman. Baitcast reel are better for intermediate to advance fisherman.
  12. You can make one easy just looking at Youtube. /watch?v=SI9aMpZX22w But i find a telescopic lure retriever that extend to 18feet is the best. You can chase it down far and knock it back out. /watch?v=17LFY1JcyaQ
  13. DRAG is better when you need to punch out that bass from all that crap! DRAG wins!
  14. Here's what I rounded up to with 3 rods. 1) 7' Medium/Heavy fast action tip with a baitcasting reel filled up with PProSS8 line. This is for Frog, or Punching heavy cover. 2) 7' Medium fast action tip with baitcasting reel filled up with PProSS8 line and FLC leader. This is for spinning and plastic. 3) 7' Medium fast action tip with spinning reel filled up with Mono or FLC. I would use this for cranking/dropshot/finest.
  15. Learn how not to get wind knot and Braid is the way to go. Braid cast farther and it's diameter is smaller per pound of strength. If you feel that fish are seeing because your water is clearer, just learn to tie a FLC leader. The only time I would use mono is for Cranking because treble hook just need that extra give or they fling out.
  16. Seems to me that you are looking for a Medium Fast action rod with a spinning reel style. The longer the rod the farther the cast. I wouldn't go beyond 7 feet since you're fishing from shore. I would go with a St. Croix Triump and a Pflueger President reel for that price range. If you're willing to spend just a bit more you can up it to a St. Croix Mojo and a Shimano Sahara.
  17. You pay for what you get Shane. I personally don't like any of the performance baitcast reel that cost less then $100. They just fail in comparison to spinning reels. The cheapest baitcast reel i would buy is a Shimano Citica that really performs well. Even that reel is above $100.
  18. You can't go wrong with Shimano brand for spinning reels. Remember, you pay for what you get. That is the general rule. You spend $50, you will get a beginner reel. You spend $100 - $150, you get a advance reel. You spend $200+ you get a professional reel. You spend $400-1000, you're just a rich guy who can afford the best.
  19. It's your guide on the rod sometimes.
  20. Here's what to get. Get yourself a Heavy fast action Rod. If you want to cast far, the longer the rod the farther the cast. Good reel will also help the cast go farther too. As for line, set yourself up with Braided line because you are fishing in weeds. I would go with at least 60lb braid. Make sure your reel has a drag system that is at least 20lb or more too. This is how you pull that porker out of all that crap hole she's been hiding and snatching all your goodies.
  21. I use to love mono when I was a beginner fisherman. It was cheap and will do the job. P-Line Flour coated is my choice. Now that I'm a better fisherman, I figure that Braid, or Braid with Flour-Carb leader is the way to go. Why do I use Braid? Why not! It's stronger with less diameter. It cast farther and it doesn't have memory. People say, "Wind knot is a killer." If you learn to close your bail correctly, you'll never get one. People also say, "What about clear water, the bass will see it." Then learn to tie a flour-carb leader. Braid is just better!
  22. If you have $$$ I would go for St.Croix Legend Tournament. Those rods are beautifully hands crafted! Up to date cork handle, lightweight, sensitivity, <$$$FUGI Micro guide$$$>, Diameter of Rod isn't bulky. I paired mine with a Abu Garcia Revo STX for baitcasting and Shimano Stradic 2500 for spinning reel. Why Abu instead of Shimano for Baitcasting, because the drag system is 20lb to 11lb. Even the Curado 300e series is only 15lb. You never know when you're going to land that 15lb bass and you don't have what it takes to land it! Don't buy a Micro Magic Duckett rod. The micro guides on there are too small and it just wears out braided line as you cast. It's also bad when you tie in leaders.
  23. Buy Steez is you are seriously into fishing and just want the best. Buy a Curado, Revo STX, or Smoke if you are just fishing as a hobby because you love it. Why? These three reel will do the job and will give you great performance that you want and won't regret. Now to which one do you want is your preference on which brand has always been on your mind and what breaking system and design/color you like. As for performance, I'm pretty sure they will do the job.
  24. You can't go wrong with Shimano Curado, Revo STX, or Quantum Smoke for their performance and price range.
