A 5 inch Yamamoto Senko weights just about 3/8ths of an ounce. Not a huge difference.

Baitcasting Problem, Help Please!!!
I believe I know what is wrong with the reel. There is a small metal insert missing from the clutch assembly where the leg of the spring passes through it. Without the insert there is too much free play and it does not allow the spring to hold the clutch in the correct position. I have an old Pflueger reel that I will try to get a picture of the part that I am speaking of so you can see what I am speaking of.

Issues With Springy Line (Way Too Much Memory I Believe)
I am guessing we are talking about spinning reels here. A couple of things you can do to help improve on your situation, try using a lighter line, use braided line with a leader, try using a line conditioner, or use top quality line. More details would help give a better response, What type of reel are you using? What line and strength are you using? Anyway good luck.

How About Them Royals!
Great series, congrats to the Giants, they played and pitched well. I am curious if Shields will remain in KC or try his luck elsewhere. I don't feel he did his self any favors in terms of a big new contract with someone else based on his postseason performance. May be in his best interest to stay in KC.

Slow Reels For What?
While I have not tried it, I can't quite understand how watching the spool is going to tell you much about bait speed. The problem with this technique that I keep coming to is that depending on the level of line on the spool the speed that the bait is being retrieved can vary as much as 40-50% with the spool moving exactly the same speed. Tactile feedback from the drag of the bait and the bend in the rod would seem to be more usable to me.

How About Them Royals!
I think that SF will start Hudson, but if anything starts happening for KC I am sure that they will march Bumgarner out to the mound. KC will have more of an opportunity against him working on short rest but I am sure he will still be very tough. Got to score some runs on Hudson early. Go Royals !!!!!

Biggest Largemouth I've Ever Caught
Using the bill for perspective, it looks to be a heavy 4lb fish to me.

Slow Reels For What?
I prefer low speed reels for almost all of my crankbait fishing. There are several reasons for my preference. I enjoy how a low speed high torque reels moves a high resistance bait effortlessly through the water, and how it helps keep my bait in the strike zone longer. I appreciate that I do not have to consciously think about how fast or slow I am cranking the reel handle, and that the gear ratio allows me to operate the reel at a rate that is normal and comfortable to me. I also find that after a day on the water throwing deep diving high resistance baits that my fingers, hands, forearms are shoulders are a lot less tight and fatigued as the result of the increased torque that a low speed reel has. Select and use the right tool for every job.
