I have seen which I will post picture at the private lake I fish, you can see 8+lb bass on beds not even 20 ft from each other and they are always the first I see to spawn first everytime I have been...this isn't necessarily true in every body of water but i'll figure it out..I have a lot of catching up to do.

Hopefully you have a map to see the contour lines of the cove....it looks to be shallow once enterin and depending on which direction this spot is in it could be a very good spot in the spring for bedding bass.

You can fish a rig anyway you want there are many ways and techniques to do so. You have the spawn and you can pretty much catch crappie in 6"-5' deep on just dropping a jig head with a grub with tail and not even have to move it..roster tails work very well during spawn...to go after the bigger crappie I use a jig head and minnow.

That and ones that will get hung up and sometimes the bass or preditoral fish will bite off a tail or leg...there is nothing to do about that just hopefully the fishdidn't swallow it. I myself have also caught fish with a line or the plastic still on the hook in the fishes mouth and discarded the hazard.

Yeah NCSU was my priorty because of engineering...not sayin im the best but most of the lakes in the piedmont I know them with my eyes closed I am very proficiant at catching bass in the 3-6lb range no problem...the big ones will take time cause im a little rusty..been on too many deployments.

Check with your local state district wildlife officer or the wildlife game and fisheries rules and regulation...the reason being is that some bass may have different mercury levels or be very sickly from bacteria or be very unhealthy and could mess up the next water chain you put them in and it's very hard to get the habitat healthy again.

Is anyone currently enrolled in college and fishes in a college bass club..i'm transitioning from the military sometime soon and am looking at going to a college with a bass club any input would be helpful.

Largemouth bass tend to suspend and wait for the water to warm up even by 5 degrees or so...during a warmfront in winter fish shallow close to deep water.

Anyone ever fished at this base, they say that 10 of the biggest largemouth were caught off this base in the state of GA.

No one on this website is an idiot, and I take that into offense...I fight for your right to fish and mine and all of us everyday so ...please be careful for the word you choose. Second, this has turned into a debate and I left it at that saying: Still at the end of the day fishing we are still happy, at least hopefully most of us..we all have the right of our opinion but degrading someone is a selfish act. I appreciate everyones response and im sorry if I offended anyone with my opinion or say in the matter. If the rig isn't banned from a league or any bass association I don't see why anyone would be so defensive on the rig?

Disagree...if you can't afford them don't buy them...serious fisherman fish year round...and we all know what works for us, we are not all the same otherwise this would be a boring forum.

What is the weight of your line and what kind of rod and reel are you using?

Either way it all comes down to oil I do believe, and I dont see lures dropping in price, WE WILL continue to still fish reguardless...thanks for all the replys,sorry to make it a debate..lol

I do believe that is a true statement, it is all about taking care of your gear/lures...but who wouldn't take care of something that is costly to maintain it's worth...I think paying over $15 for a lure is outragious,but at the same time if it last a very long time it's an investment, also if you fish professional I do believe that sponsors help you out with the lures and you get them at a very low price.

Well you also have to take in perspective...some of us that use this website are far from upper middle to upper class, so therefore lures can be quite expensive and you can lose a 15-400 $ lure, the knot and line isn't always 100%...it's just that it's funney how fishing is becomming an expensive sport, maybe it's not outragious yet but soon enough if the economy doesn't turn worse then it has already, fishing will be very expensive. I agree we should invest more on products made in the U.S. then imported lures...this is our country bass fishing was founded in the U.S.
