  1. Side arm control, with practice on ponds and being out in the yard. First you have to know your gear, have confidence, and "practice make perfect."
  2. Yeah I don't look down on them, just the fact that every state does have a law to abide by. It's not the fact they keep fish, but rather break the law. Rules and Regulations are not written for laughs and giggles, there is meanining behind the laws.
  3. I don't know how fast you fished your baits, but what I would've done different if the bass were hitting the baitfish like you say they were, I would have thrown a weightless fluke matching the baitfish. Topwater lure such as: pop-r,spook,or spit'n immage. Seems like most of the bass were in schools,so you were in the right place to catch the bass. I don't know if you were looking for size because I don't think in my own opinion that bass over 3 lbs do not school up, again that's my opinion.
  4. No but in the professional world, it's how to make a living.
  5. I would go before the cold front, this being because of the barometiric pressure will be going up steady and send the fish into hiding into cover being very hard to catch under pressure. Any Temp change that rises steady could be a good chance to catch something with the pressure decreasing.
  6. Ya know a lot of tackle shops or surplus store are having end of year sales to get rid of overstock of baits that didn't sell it ranges at every store or franchise...supply and demand.
  7. sounds good, you can use a 10#-14# test that's not braided for your leader..what kind of line would depend on what your more comfortable with?
  8. The leader would be your best bet, what kind of swivel are you talking about?
  9. Oh yea, especially during the spawn, crappie are very aggressive during the spawn.I've caught my largest on zoom fluke and rostertails.
  10. Yes, Falls have both the species of shad shown in my post also.
  11. Mid 50's to early 60's. Many fisherman on this site have their own response and experience. My advice to you would be to do some research when spring roles around. The slightest weather changes can and will effect the spawn.
  12. here is a picture First is the threadfin, Second is the Gizzard
  13. Engineering with 6 years of experience a log with spec ops experience. Now it's time to get back to my passion and be famous.
  14. If you have the diagram for the reel that would help
  15. Either way good catch way to start off the new year!
  16. There are two main different types of shad in the piemont threadfin and gizzard....here is a video to see their difference. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oxekjneEzQ
  17. I think so from my experience, they're the biggest bass I see before the smaller ones spawn.
  18. Tandum or Colorado....For the Colorado 1/2oz, two blades, white/chart or blk/wht. Copper or nickel blade. Tandum; use a 3/8 blue/white...it's all about vibration.
  19. Glenn, great post! And Riverfisher, you may not see it being a bad thing to release other bass or species of fish into another body of water but that's what water and wildlife conservation is and management just ask your local wildlife biologist.
  20. Most of my schooling for my Bach...is almost finished.
  21. Ok Intentionally no I wouldn't...I melt all my plastics for re-use and am in the process of making a bait line.
