The salesman did told me about Italian made berretta, but it will cost 80-100 bucks more than the one made in Maryland. Do you see a big difference from the one made in U.S. and the one made in Italy? Also, there is a stainless verison, is that any better?

New handGun
I went to the range today after work, and rented a berretta 92, Springfield 1911, Glock 21, and a kimber. Interestingly enough, my accuracy is much better on a berretta. I am constantly hitting 6 and 7 on the target, but still no where close to a 10. But when I started to use a .45 acp pistol, my aim dropped and were hitting 4 and 5 on the target. Anyone know why? Or I should just stop testing guns ,and get a berretta?

Are you buying a handgun for target practice, or home defense? Those salesmen said, people want a good handgun, but you need a shotgun if it is for home defense.

I have googled the gun law for Maryland, and found if someone is under danger I can stand my ground, repel the attack. Also, may kill the attacker... http://house.state.md.us/2007RS/fnotes/bil_0001/sb0761.pdf So, time to shop for a shotgun and a pistol. Then find someone to teach me how to use it.... ;D

x2 I am currently a Criminal Justice student and have read quite a few Criminal cases on this subject. In Massachusetts it is called the Castle Law. IMO it protects the criminal more than the victim. Do your research on the law, understand what you are expected to do before you pull the trigger. Someone busting in your door, isnt reasonable fear for your life, being at gunpoint is. Also check your law on where you can legally store your weapon, in some states it must be in a locked cabinet. That being said, I have a 100lb Chocolate lab, then last resort is my Remington 870 Supermag, locked in my room in a safe. 3 1/2", 12 guage should be suffecient. -matt- wow...this is getting more than I can handle. I am good with numbers, but this is way out of my league. Maybe I should consulate with an attorney first before buying a gun. I can't believe protecting your family/house can be a nightmare.

If someone comes to my house armed, I will probably pull the trigger. I am not running and leave my family behind

Yeah, I was thinking about a training class as well. But I have called around the area, and no range offers that service. They will let you rent the gun, and use it Which model of Springfield 1911 would you recommend? And yes, I am willing to spend some money and time to get trained.

I am looking to purchase a handgun for home defense. After my neighbor's house got robbed, and held at gun point, it is time for me to arm myself. I have been reading few reviews on Beretta 92fs 9mm, and Springfield 1911 .45acp but can't decide which one I should get. Anyone got expertise on handguns? Any suggestion will help.

WD-40 on lures?
WD-40 is an aliphatic compound; it is 50% hydrocarbon (alkenes), which is from petroleum and coal tar. Then the physical properties are 25% petroleum based oil, that is a broad range of natural hydrocarbon based substance, and it is very hazardous to marine and human life. Then 18% is made with LVP aliphatic hydrocarbon, and 3% carbon dioxide. So the non-hazardous ingredients are < 10%. It has nothing to do with Fish Oil! No one should be using that, it is harmful to you lake.

How many of you buy a new rod directly from a catalog/website
It seems that I can get a better deal online than going to a store for rods and reels. But there is a bass pro shop 30 minutes from my house, so I will go get a feel of the gear first before I will order it online.

Your local tackle store
I like going to my local tackle shop because it is ran by a retired pro sportsman. He had shared many interesting story with me and few fishing locations. So I am giving my business to him. His price for tackles are bit higher than bass pro shops, but friendship is priceless.

Spinning reel question
x2 The President looks like a good choice in your price range, but check your local sporting goods stores for deals on older Shimano models as well. My local Sports Authority still has several Sahara FB and Symetre FI models in stock, and the Symetres are often marked down to $59. Dicks had few symetres for sale, didn't pay attention to the price but can't be more than what stasher said.

Need some advice
The pond I was fishing at closed due to unknown reason, so I have started to fish centennial lake in Columbia, Maryland. I have talked to few local fishermen, and got tips on where to fish. For the past three days, I have been going there each morning for 2-3 hours but unable to land a fish Top water bait from 7:00am-8:00am, then switched to senko and spinnerbait. I am wondering if anyone here fished that lake, and if not any decent fishing spot near Howard County, Maryland? Thanks for the help guys.
