  1. I have one with a Revo SX on it. Love it. Med with 65# Spiderwire, not a problem. Very easy to cast with, and great sensitivity.
  2. Im sure someone on this site makes their own baits. If you do, I was just wondering where you get your chemicals. I was going to make my own using my used plastics, but then decided against it. I have a collection of them, but not enough to make shipment worth it. Does anyone here buy peoples old plastics to use to melt and mold their own, and if so, how much do you pay? I figure if Im not going to use them, someone will, and I will continue to collect them and sell them off.
  3. The original, Spiderwire.
  4. Actually the 200E is just as good. A little bit of oil and tuning and no problem. I am now using the 200 for my frogs because its a 7 ratio to muscle them, 50 is now light plastics along with my Abu Revo SX. The 50 for me just feels really nice in my hand
  5. Ah men brother. I swear by this rod too. I have 4 of my reels set on these bad boys. Great for braid, amazing sensativity for the $. Cool color, and light as hell. Best bang for the buck!
  6. I use mine on a M Vendetta rod, 65# Spiderwire. The lures I use for it are mostly 6" plastic lizards on a 3/0 widegap hook and a 1/32 oz bullet weight. Once dialed (aprrox 3/4 mag brake and just enough man brake for the lure to drop), I cany cast effortlessly with no problems. You cant try to over do the cast or it will backlash. If you have wind, just adjust the man brake to balance it out. Also, if you just bought the reel, take the oil that comes with the reel and add a drop to each spool bearing, I find it helped the performance a bit.
  7. If this helps, I tend to put a drop of oil that is supplied with the reels on the spool bearings right from the start. I think they are a little dry for me. For oiling points, the spool bearing take most of the beating, so always keep them in the back of your mind as that spool is turning at very high RPMs on every cast you make. I always carry a cleaning kit or at least some reel oil with me no matter what. Breaking the reel down and cleaning, I do once a yyear. I mark for January to be the month that they are all cleaned out. I soak my bearings in Acetone to get all the old lube and oils out. Non chlorinated brake cleaner to spray out the spool bearing that is retained by the pin. The rest of the reel parts use a degreaser and a toothbrush to clean, and then grease and oil where manufacturer suggests. Keep the schematics by you, also a little plano box to put parts in so you dont lose them. I know people say dont over do the oil, but I put my bearings in one of the box compartments and put 1 drp on each side of the bearing and let them sit while I clean the rest of the reel, and then 1 drop after I reinstall, never had a problem. Be very neat and organized and thorough in the process, and you should be ok. PS Ardent makes a nice little kit.
  8. Stop........Webertime (insert MC Hammer dance)
  9. Cita-rado? Do tell, you have my upmost attention.
  10. Well, if your gonna talk about what I own as what 2 I would keep.... The first one is my Shimano Curado 200E7 on my 7 ft Berkley Lightning Shock rod and 65# Spiderwire for wrenching out pigs in the grass with a frog. The other being my Abu Garcia Revo SX on 7 ft Vendetta rod and 65# Wire for casting my plastics and swim baits. These are my 2 faves.
  11. For reels around $100 you could go with BPS Pro Qual, Extreme, Shimano Citica, Ceanan, an Abu Orra series, all well rounded reels. Rod choices could be Berkley Lightning Shock, Abu Vendetta, Daiwa has some. I would try to aim for a 6.# gear ratio on the reel to keep the setup versitile. All options are good for braid/flouro/mono. Smooze around on BPS website, they are gonna be having their Spring Classic sale soon.
  12. Awaiting production to put that baby to the test and get some more cranking power out of this little beast.
  13. I say we take all of these stupid things and ship them back to GREENBOW ALABAMA!!!!!!
  14. Thats awesome! I love his show, he makes me laugh, and my wife will actually watch it. Looks like a good time, did they say when it is gonna air on TV?
  15. I liked the feel of yours that you showed me with the handle, thats what inspired me to buy one.
  16. you can get a Curado 50E on Ebay. I just picked one up for $120, its 2x the reel the Citica is. Might even be a ble to get a 200E if you can get a good deal. These reels are bullet proof.
  17. I tie straight braid to all my baits, no problems, treble hooks or not.
  18. And how many doesnt she know about? Lol
  19. Just got my Curado 50E in the mail the other day. Spooled it up, and too it out for a trial run yesterday. Why I didnt buy one of these a long time ago boggles my mind. I love my 200E7, and now I have the best of both worlds. Now I can use my E7 for my frog rod so I can muscle those pigs out of the weeds and grass. Caught 5 bass yesterday around 2.5 lbs each, and had a blast with this little reel. Perfect to use for my plastic swim baits (paddle tails, flapping worms, lizards). Best $120 I spent yet. Everything in the box was brand new, I found a good deal I think. Why someone would want to sell this thing I have no idea, but I know I benefited.
  20. d**n sorry to hear that. I know the wind up there yesterday was rough. I know a few people that were at that tournament, my fiances uncle Jonathan. I was fishing in Cocoonut Creek with her grandpa and we were having a hard time just casting off the banks with the wind, an dall I could think about was that you guys up there were getting pounded with 1-2 ft waves. Good to hear you guys are OK, live to fish another day.
  21. Haha, I dont know what hapened there. Sure you could say Im 3 times as strong about it, lol.
  22. 65# Spiderwire on all my rigs. Not what you call a finese fisherman. No problems with crankbaits, spooks, or worms. You have to get used to handling braid to know how to set hooks depending on what your using.
