  1. +1 for the Lightning Rod. I just sold 2 reels to a guy from NH on here. If you want to have a good setup, I will sell you my Abu Cardinal thats only about 2 years old. Its in the original box with the spare spool. I take very good care of my equipment. Its yours for $50 shipped. I paid $115 new. Its an amazingly smooth durable reel, I just dont use it because I prefer baitcasters.
  2. Snakeheads are more in the Coral Springs, Tamarac, Margate regions. The C-14 canal is a hot canal to fish for them. Other than that, looks like you did pretty good out here. Next time, try fishing the canal that runs along the Sawgrass and 75. You can launch out of Markham Park to access it. That canal is loaded with Snakeheads. They are all along the edges of the canals, and swimming for food around 5-6 in the afternoon.
  3. I find I do good with those colors when there is an overcast, and the sun is gone.
  4. I wasnt crazy for the way they covered it. I think they should have done some more "show me some fishing action" than "lets get the crowed pumped up".
  5. I know they are in the canal that runs along sawgrass to 27
  6. a drop of superglue on the line.
  7. Citica and a 17# dia line should be a good start. Shimanos braking system is a cut above the rest for simplicity and function.
  8. Tell you the truth, I always fish braid and never had any good outcomes with mono or fluoro. I just so happened to give this line a chance to prove that there is something that I can use other than braid to be strong enough for me, and its awesome! I use the 20# due to I like to fish for snakeheads often down here, and this stuff is TOUGH! I recommend it, you wont regret it.
  9. Watermelon seed Zoom Lizards kill down here. Find yourself a grassy area and fish a topwater hollow frog. Red shad colored worms. Gambler EZ Swimmers.
  10. The BPS Enigma reel is a good one to start learning on due to its dual braking system. Once you get the hang of it you can purchase a better reel to use and keep the Enigma for backup. My opinion anyway.
  11. Jerk baits are getting some good action down here lately.
  12. PQ over the Enigma all day. I own both, so personal experience, Im for the PQ. Have you tried going online for a Curado 201E? Might find a good deal. Ive heard amazing things about that Smoke reel.
  13. Looks like it may go the same route as Shimano did with the Curado. Looks like we are gonna have another collectable.
  14. I took the SX for a little study break, head clear 30 minute fishing break in my canal. For 20# its really smooth, an I have no troubles casting it, even with wind. Im an avid braid fisherman, and have always gotten fustrated fishing mono and fluoro. This Yozuri stuff has won me over. to tell you the truth POPRG, I was gonna go 15#, but the diameter difference was so minute, I just took the 5# for the .01# difference. I caught 2 bass, both about the 4# range, and was very satisfied with the way the line handled. Its almost the closest thing I can get to braid like quality in a fluoro style line. Sensitivity is great, and even when the fish tried to take me under some cover and rocks, it held up very well. AND ITS SOO CHEAP!
  15. I dont want to be a product wh@re, but im gonna.......Shimano.
  16. Good choice! Nice piece, would look wild with a white Abu rod. Storm trooper!
  17. Heres the trick: when the fish jumps, pull that fish as hard as you can to slingshot it to you. While its on its way, reach down, grab the net, and catch it.
  18. Think about how funny it would be to follow them around like golfers, and cheer them on with every cast! Lol
  19. Abu with YoZuri (large bore, haha), Extreme 17lb Mono
  20. I got lucky. My wife came with me to BPS (I did all I could to convince her not to), and she was actually OK with my reel purchase (although not a Shimano). I wouldnt be able to get away with another Shimano myself either, shes catching on to the names and brands (its a undercover plan I believe to keep tabs on this stuff). The new rod comes next week with the rod trade in. Next week she will not be going due to the vendors (and I told her I was going to be there for several hours checking out EVERYTHING! HAHAHA)
  21. I was thinking of getting the 15lb, but then realized its .01 for 5 more lbs. I fish a lot of heavy cover down here, and a lot of snakeheads too. I usually use 65# braid, so I figured the 20 should be OK. I havent casted the Extreme yet, but the Pro Qual has similar braking to it, so we shall see if its decent. Heck, for the money I actually paid for it, cant be that bad, its replacing a ProLite that was garbage.
  22. Well, now Im really not going to be allowed to go there by myself.
  23. Chronarch, Curado, Citica-$30 Rebate................GET SOME!!!!!!!!!!
  24. So going to the Classic sale at BPS this weekend, I was originally looking for the Shimano Caenan. Since posting of the possible purchase, some have made valid points of not purchasing due to the frame. While looking at the other reels that were on sale, came across the new BPS Extreme reel. Seen it, but never really checked it out. My wife has the older model, and what a vast improvement on design and quality in this thing. Sale was from $79.95 to $59.95, also has a reel trade in that saved $10, and a $25 gift card, and about $20 in BPS points. Not a bad deal. So since I had a few extra $$ from making that good deal (the wife was very pleased, since we are cutting budgets a bit), I was able to pick up some Mono to put on my new Spook reel. I decided to go with Spiderwire mono (I just like their braid, so stuck with it). Also, since we are trying to keep expenses down, on my regular user, Revo SX, was going to not use braid anymore (since I use it soo much, I go thru it like crazy). I figured Id go with a Flouro, and picked up the YoZuri Hybrid in 20lb test. This should be strong enough, since this rig is mostly used around town in local canals. Ive heard some good things about this line, has anyone ever used it before? It was a really good price for the amount of line. Tried it out today, and it didnt give me any backlash issues. For being 20b, it was still able to cast a 6" Zoom lizard, on a 3/0 widegap, and a 1/32oz weight very far, and very effortlessly.
