  1. Belle Glade and Clewiston areas are pretty good. West wall flats are pretty prductive right now. Jig for pigs, otherise run some swim baits through the grass for ome crazy hitting 2-4 lbers
  2. It deffinately is a tactical way of fishing, and when masterd it is very usefull. My opinion, use what you are comfortable with.
  3. BPS Pro Qualifier, Berkley Lightning Rod.
  4. My Curado 200E7 on Berkley Lightning Shock Rod and 65# Spiderwire. Abu Garcia Revo SX on Vendetta rod and 65# Spiderwire.
  5. No, BPS, they let me trade back in my Daiwa. Only ended up costing me a few more dollars, but well worth it. Im righty though, so I cant use it anyway. d**n good price, thats half, makes you wonder what the markup is on these things?
  6. Depends on what the inserts are made of
  7. Just picked up a Revo SX and put iton a Vendetta, AMAZING! Love it, its a 7 ft M, and feels soo good.
  8. Just my opinon, but I think flouro casts better and better strength against abrasion
  9. Well I have only 1 complaint with this setup. It casts soo smooth and soo far, its hard for me to keep from not chucking the bait as far as I can try to every cast, haha.
  10. I personally use braid on all my rigs, but nothing thin like 10#, all mine are 65#. What you are setting up sounds like an UL style set up, I think you would be happier using a 8-10# flouro and get a nice fight out of the little fish. Unless you are fishing really heavy cover, you dont need the braid. Tune the reel right and get some KVD line conditioner (someone recommended it to me on this site for my mono rig i keep in the car and it works great).
  11. 65# Spiderwire=12# dia. Thats why I like it. I never have problems with it.
  12. When I looked at it at Bass Pro I thought it was pretty neat looking. Its definately very different, and the way the hood pops up when you push the thumb-bar down is just innovative. I just would like to ba able to use one before I bought one to see if its worth the $$$.
  13. You fish different types than me. Im in the swamp here in the Everglades where mono and flouro dont stand a chance against the cover that is in our waters. We dont fish most those baits you mentioned, its mostly frogs, lizards, toads, shads, traps, jerks, spooks, some jigs (mostly swimming through heavy grass), big worms and snakes. I see your point, being from GA, he may have heavy cover, he may not, all I know is that unless you are fishing a clean lake down here, flouro and mono dont cut it. You want to drag a pig out of the grassy flats, you better be at least 50# braid or better.
  14. I have no such mentioned problems except for maybe some tip wrap every once in a while, but thats the nature of the beast. Never broke, I can fish fine in the wind, casts better that flouro or mono, and if you let the line slack too much thats your own fault. Tune your equipment and get used to braid and it will be your best friend, but everyone has their own opinion.
  15. Open water you can do a 17lb flouro. You just have to remember that each type of line has its own characteristics. Flouro can be damaged easier than braid, but is stronger than mono. I think braid is a lot easier to cast than mono or flouro. All my rigs are spooled with 65# Spiderwire, and it serves me good whether I fish local canals, or the thick grassy flats in the Everglades. Also, braid is a zero stretch, so hooksets are a +, but it takes some getting used to. The only way your gonna know is to try it. I fish with all baitcasters, maybe you use spinners, so there are some variables to the equation.
  16. Heavy cover=Heavy line. 65# should be good. Braid all day long
  17. A little too much $$ for me. My next reel on the hit list is gonna be the T3 Ballistic.
  18. I like having different reels for different purposes. Its kind of collecting/fishing.
  19. In a recent note, I decided to return the Diawa TDPro and rod. I decided to try out the Abu Garcia Revo SX on a Vendetta rod. After Sundays scouting at the Lake, I decided the Diawa just wasnt to the "T" of what I need. Not to say the reel wasnt good, it was, after I lubed the reel myself due to the lack of lubing from the factory, it worked a lot better, just not good enough for me. It could cast a country mile after tuning, but it was just missing the smoothness I was used to being a Shimano man. The Revo SX is in my opinion, a much smoother reel from the box, and seems to be built much better for the extra money. It casts awesome, smooth retrieve, and paired with the Vandetta rod, it just feels "right". The best thing about it, its all black and red colors (my favorite combination). Gambler tournament on Saturday, its gonna get abused pretty bad, lets see how it does compared to my Curado E7, and Citica G6.
  20. I fish straight braid on all my rigs, but I fish HEAVY cover.
  21. The wedding is on St Patricks Day, right after we ae headed to Disney. The trip to Boston is a trip after I graduate my Paramedics course. Its gonna be a post honeymoon you could say. Anyway, I couldnt help myself but buy a reel the other day when picking up some baits at Bass Pro for next weeks tournament at Lake Okeechobee. So since Ive been looking for aa new reel, my eye caught a glimpse of a reel I dont remember ever being there before. Looked, played, bought. Diawa TDPro 7:1. Used the hell out of it yesterday, amazing! Ifvyou purchase one, tear it down and lube it first. I dont thmink they do a good job from the factory. After I did the lubing it worked soo much better. Matched it to a Team Diawa rod, new favorite! P.S. Still need a travel rod, haha.
  22. Well I tried to post Google and apparently it got deleated. Seriously though you would be amazed at how much you can find it helps. Some of my old reels that I would take appart, and need to find stuff fo them, just Google the model and soo much stuff comes up that will help you. Other people may post videos of the reel on youtube and it will help answer any questions if no one can. Thats my input, go ahead and bully, but it does help.
  23. Bps Pro Qualifier, Berkley Ligjtning Shock rod. $150 on the dot!
  24. Ah men, braid is way more sensative. All my rigs are Spiderwire spooled.
