Awesome fish!!! I love it!! Now was that caught at the dam or the rip-rap?? Cause if it was the dam, it doesn't count. Just shows how different it can play out day to day. End of story that is a beautiful fish and I'm jealous :-).

Here are our two big fish of the day. Both caught on the Ned rig. I was using 8 lb nanofil with a yo-zuri 10lb liter, outkast money jig1/16 with a zero PB&J. Our strategy was to attack the dam bc we knew that's where we would have the best opportunity to get our limit quickly and add bigger fish as the day unfolded. It paid off as we put two nice fish in the boat early. All we needed was to add 3 good 15-17". After pre fishing we realized that any other area of the lake did not offer what we were fishing for. Along the other banks while there are still good smallies, the numbers weren't there and the number of other species that you catch slow down what we wanted to accomplish. Had a blast and look forward to the next tourney.

I apologize I didn't read this and I didn't bring buns today. Had fun out there today, it was nice meeting all the new participants that weren't out last time, and hope to see you back again. I will be sure to bring the fish cookies again, everyone seem to like them (props to the GF).

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Hit Pleasanton and Miami today. I went to try out the new trolling motor so it's good to go on Saturday, and that's what I ended up doing all day, just riding around. Had one bite the whole day, and broke off on the set. When I pulled up bassresource tonight, the video "Secrets to bass fishing success", came up. I guess I should of watched that before I left today. I have never had a day that bad, it was really frustrating. There was one other boat on Miami, and I didn't see them get anything either, it was like the twilight zone.

Oh uh you let the secret out by posting your mix match color trailer on your jigs. Also a little word of advice to AllDay that I'm sure you already know. I wouldn't bother with the west side of west Pleasanton, it was super shallow when I fished it before the drought and I caught 3 people's lines and gave up over there. So many kids and people fish those piers and areas to the west, I don't think it's worth it, unless there is a lucky craft at the end of one of those lines.

Fished pleasanton east yesterday evening for about an hour and a half. Caught that one on a square bill, it was right around 5. Caught a nice keeper walleye as well. This was my first time fishing there and have to say I liked it a lot.

Curt and I battled the wind today at Melvern, and that is pretty much all we battled. Hard to fish some of the spots we wanted too, bc of the wind and water level has dropped significantly since we last fished there. I did manage to bat for the cycle catching white bass, LM, SM, bluegill, walleye, catfish, and a drum, all on square bills. Picked the wrong lake to try out my new nanofil, broke off on a hook set on first bite. The zebra mussels just tear up any line out there, lots of retying. Highlight of the day....a white bass double-up, or me not falling overboard.

Did you have to rub it in by posting my picture, haha...hey I accomplished my goal today, DINKMASTER!!!!! It seems to be a trend. I am beginning to wonder if Clayton and you bring me for my photography skills. Yeah that fish today was a great ending to a slow day, when you said you got one, you didn't imply like it was a fish of any size. So I'm watching you reel it in and as soon as I saw its mouth come out of the water and head shake, I about shat my pants. So yeah I was excited, didn't know how good she was hooked bc you said you didn't get a full set on her. It will be interesting to fish that spot some more.

Hey what type of boat do you have? Might have seen you out there today. I was the one with his motor cover off trying to get his flooded motor to start for 2 hours lol. Finally got her going but the fishing went like the rest of the day, frustrating.

I am down for the 10/20 thingamabobber. My vote is no hillsdale and I think bone creek would be a great spot for this event. Lake has plenty of area for us all to spread out, definitely catch lots of fish and there is a healthy number of keepers. There are also 7 motels/hotels in fort Scott.

Yeah your buddy that I bought the boat from had the permit on the boat. So I am assuming that the 2012 permit sticker on the boat will be sufficient. If not I will have to buy one because we're coming for the top dog once he returns for Wednesday night tourneys.

Hit the state lake this AM, and I'm already home. Caught a few dinks off square bills and a few off shakey/worm. Oh and a catfish on a square bill, got excited for a minute. Had one break off, that sums it up. Figured I go home and make some jigs. Probably hit Wyandotte sun evening, and bone creek Monday.

Hit my new favorite honey hole this evening. The fishing was great. Everything I caught was over 2 lbs. my two biggest were 4.16 and 5.73. I caught the 4 pounder on a havoc black/blue fluke. The 5.73 I caught on a Havoc 4" pit boss junebug. I don't know if it's the cool temperatures and don't want to get too excited but maybe the bigger fish are starting to bite.

Anyone Make A Wide Gap Shakyhead?
Hey It looks like it is possible to make the #38109BLN work. You just have to hone out a little area where the hook meets the bottom of the head so the mold can close completely. I guess you have to widen it just below the lead head. I'll PM you the link.

Fished Miami Co. yesterday evening. Steady fishing from 5-9 pm. Caught on shad swim bait, square bills, Missouri craw jig, and a sexy mouse spinner caught the biggest of the day. I think I had the most fun during about a 20 minute window late in the evening when the bass were just annihilating shad top water. The amount of bait in that lake is just crazy. They liked the smaller swimbait during this time, wouldn't touch a 5" or 6" swim shad. Overall I thought it was great fishing for the heat.

Where To Find The Pond Monster In The Summer Heat
I have been running into the same problem on my pond, just catching dinks and 2 pounders. It's been 100 degrees everyday, but what I have found to get the bigger fish is to go big with the baits. I can normally land big ones with a 5" sticko but now they won't touch it. I have been throwing on 7 1/4" big fat worms and those have been drawing out the big guys. I guess if they are going to expend any energy they want a bigger meal lol. I have caught them on a slow retrieve or if you have a bunch or weeds/grass running the worm fast along the top. Also having luck with the 4" havoc pit boss and running it like a top water frog. I haven't had a bite in a month on a top water frog but they hit the pit boss like crazy.

Fishing Injury
Last year I was trying to remove a crankbait where the bottom treble was partially swallowed. Forgetting my pliers, I decided I would stick my hand down its mouth and try to free the hook. About 8 seconds into this the fish decides to have a violent shake episode sending the top treble hook into my thumb. So I am now in a panic bc i have my hand in its mouth attached to a hook which is attached to him. I decide to just pull the crank as hard as I could and it finally came out without any more violent shaking episodes . I then proceeded to try and pull the hook out of my finger for about an hour but couldn't get it to budge. Had to go to the ER and have it taken out. The worst part was having to walk away knowing the fishing day was over, one of the best 3 hours of fishing I've ever experienced, so it was worth it.

What Is The Meaning Behind Your Screen Name?
"Wachati" is actually a verb, created on a fishing trip in the keys by my saltwater partner in crime, Capt. Jim Sullivan. I was unable to make this trip but that didn't keep me from hijacking the term as my username . The fishing had been great during this trip and one day before heading out, my friend announced to everyone "Let's go Wachati some fish today!" The phrase caught on down there and everyone was saying it. When you got a fish on, yell wachati!! So since I am a bass guy I figured it was alright to claim rights to this in the freshwater world, and so I did... Wachati - "It is what it is".

Boat Loan
I love this. Yeah you might want to work on that emergency fund first, lol. I think Dave calls that the debt snowball. My motto is if you can't pay cash, the only exception being a house, than you can't afford it. Especially recreational vehicles...BUT if there is one item going into debt over, I would definetly recommend a BASS BOAT!! I am not here to preach....just saying "It is what it is", somehow I will work that into every post if possible.
