A rod does NOT HAVE to be cut in the middle. It is less strain on the joint, if cut 2' from the tip.

I dropped Michelin Tires long ago because they wanted to increase life of the tire. By making them harder said a representative. Soft, smooth riding, quiet, tires are out. Hard compounds are in. I checked lots of companies & there were none available. 40 ? years ago.

bulldog1935 I am very lucky to be alive in this Long Rod time period. I am 1937. So as I age. The longer rods keep me casting the same distance with the same pain level. ? I just started trying out a 9' light saltwater rod with a Mitchell 300 spin and 6# braid............. LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN........... THe only real problem with long rods is they SOAK UP all of the fish motion. even at 20 to 30' away. The tip isjumping a lot but very little BUTT action. I am always complaining. But very happy to bring the fish into the boat myself.

There is 1 VERY odd important check to HAVE DONE by any marina. Before they ever crank the starter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU TOO if you start your own engine first. Remove the engine enough to CLEARLY see the engine INTAKE OPENINGS !!!!!!!!!!! Last year I noticed my engine sounded a little quieter ?? after fishing & restarting 6 ? times I removed the cover. O M G !!!!!!!!!!!! The whole front & intakes were filled with white seat cushion stuffing. I just sagged into the seat bench. Moral Check for animal squatters before cranking !! Got it out. Continued fishing.

Why I have crushed and or grind off ALL barbs.............. If I can not keep the line tight enough ? The fish should win !!

I can be very consistent, not catching fish, in all types of weather.
