  1. I call it the " Tsunami effect ". Very common in water with BIG freighters. Very common all along the St. Lawrence River & in the Great Lakes near the shipping channels. I had a near disaster from the unseen bow / hull pressure wave 1 mile away. NEVER be in shallow water where freighters go by. Keep island between them & you for preventing silent " Blind sided". By 8' & higher waves. Been there with wife in a deep hulled Chaparral 19' bow rider. LUCK always beat skill again. 8' and foam breaking. Spaced 20' apart will bury a little yak. My 19' was going straight down & took water up to top of the windshield. Bow canvas covers held !!
  2. Only another 6 weeks Until my opening day in N Y.
  3. I can catch a LOT of bass if a hungry school is slowly passing in range. I have NEVER caught any, if the school leaves or never stops by.
  4. I had 1 of those long + 15' cane poles for decades. All I needed as the sundown shift came to docks & shoreline. Way back time. Loads of all fish all the time. I lived in the good years.
  5. You can hold your pole in your hand any way that is comfortable.
  6. Any fishline sold with a U V protective cover is always fine with me. I have never had a bad refill roll in my lifetime.
  7. Call the state police. They get calls from me every summer about SNOTS. 1 even fired a 22 bullet at me. Police stopped that in a hurry.
  8. With out a boat LOADED with every gadget. It takes a lot of shore casting to learn the right spots each day & light conditions.
  9. ALL the TV video experts use those long whippy WHITE rods. You can now make & sell videos.
  10. Saltwater fish are always hungry and moving for food. They bite fast and hang on. Just the way it is.
  11. I have C & R the same fish in my bay for at least 40 years. So they know what the sound, shape & outline of my boat is. Suzuki is right on on their intelligence about lines. 12# braided is really small. Bass can see green color very well. I really should find out what color they DO NOT see well. I have too much advantage as it is.
  12. That is a fantastic " Breakfast pie. Add the works ! We need Proteins all morning. " ?
  13. duuuh DO I have the right to unhook my bass lure from a boat cover in a marina ??????? ?
  14. IF the fish are just not interested ? Come back when they are hungry. Works every time with animals.
  15. IN-n N Y the super SNOTS post & yell. ALL waters are public property. But the LAND under water might be owned. SOO Do not anchor. A check with STATE POLICE usually gets the correct answer. PRIVATE PONDS are just that in most cases.
  16. I totally agree with.............When they are biting? Anything will work. WITHIN REASON. I have seen th SMB in a feeding school REPEATIDLY hit my NO HOOKS LURE.......endlessly right to the boat. Pretty neat sight. Like a bunch of BIG piranhas. The kids then start getting hook ups fast.
  17. Thankfully my cottage bedroom has 2 easy accesses corners. And dinning room has 1 corner. All no direct sunlight on them. 8' ceilings.
  18. Thank you Catt for deleting the money guys on my question. I am not interested in the guy with 68 rods. Obviously needs a lot of excuses for a slow day. I just accept the slow days. I go back & forth between Casting & trolling in a boat or shore / docks with children. I was surprised by the one person using different line weights to get a lure down to different depths. Have to see about my 6# & 60# pulling my small floaters down with no weights. Great point.
  19. 13 should be fine............IF IF ...........it stays at 13 when you operate the poles or several items at the same time................Do NOT try the starter with no water covering the the lower unit water inlet !! can wear out the pump impellor quickly.
  20. Thanks everyone. I have enough bass rods for different conditions. 4 alone are for trolling in very different waters. Geezeritis rules in old age.
  21. After sundown is best on the surface.
