  1. I went with lefty b/c of ur exact reasoning...but they feel natural to me. don't force it...take it back for a righty. i wouldn't attribute 'lost fish' to righty or lefty (if bite detection is the issue..probably too much slack in the line).
  2. all you need is on the world wide web. google it.. youtube it..grab ur spec's (glasses).. and ur spec's (specifications/schematics).. and get to it! it will probably cost you less than a dollar to replace any parts u lost.
  3. oh yea. being superstitious is actually healthy as long as its not causing you anxiety. Foxman says there is a positive placebo effect -- if you think something will help you, it may do just that. "There is a tremendous amount of power in belief," he says. If the outcome is a matter of pure luck, beliefs don't really have any impact, however, when your performance is a key factor in an outcome, superstitious thinking might give you an extra boost. "There can be a real psychological effect of superstitious thoughts," says Vyse. If you've done well before when you had a particular shirt on, for example, it might prove wise to wear the shirt again, if it helps to relieve anxiety and promotes positive thoughts. But this way of thinking can also hinder your performance, if say, you lose your lucky object. http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/features/psychology-of-superstition?page=2
  4. be aware that a chemical reaction usually occurs between nail polish/sharpie (less with markers) and soft plastics. you can ruin a bag of worms quick by melting them together with a nail polish covered rattletrap now i either buy them painted or just use bare lead. i'm getting to the point when i'm on a mission to catch fish i don't really care whats on the end of my line..i'll make it work
  5. x2. if you use a small box w/ light packaging it will stay under 13oz. print the label online and you'll get free delivery confirmation. it will be $5.04 total (that includes $50 worth of insurance for $1.65).
  6. if weeds getting stuck in the blades is ur problem...try a chatterbait. the vibration and action of the blade shakes weeds right off. i abandon willow blades around heavy weeds and only throw a chatter.
  7. I need to get online/mobile with my laptop. Does anyone have a plan and/or experiences? Seems like Comcast,Verizon,Clear,T-Mobile all have USB air cards. I primarily need it for emails and less than 300 site pages a month (so I don't need a ton of gigs). That might even put me in a pre-paid category. Tks
  8. Replaced? Do you work in the health care industry!? IF that is what it is, 2 pinion yokes springs cost under $1.
  9. you gotta open that bad boy up. did you ever do it before? there are tons of great youtube vids.
  10. great thread. if i had other productive water available close by, i would prefer it. however like others i would still have an itch to master that lake and hook a lunker. i would focus on early AM during the spawn and cast jigs and anything that vibrates. second best would be AM anytime of year. i would serious downsize to 1/16-1/8oz soft plastics and drop shot the rest of day/summer. it sounds like the lake has a very stable environment so small is better when trying to 'figure them out'. once you have a consistent clue, up size again. i have a similar pond near me and tossing a 5" weightless senko is like throwing a 5lb rock. just too much for the heavy pressured, scarce cover, stable environment. your lake has a feeder stream. it brings oxygen and food. find the feeder stream and you'll find fish.
  11. is spot on. i can tell by the sentence structure that English isn't their first language. "In case you won't like the boat". In case you don't like the boat Nigerian !!! I can completely solve this problem. Just deposit the funds into MY account and I'll oversee the transaction!
  12. When the last time it was running? Leaks? Hope she doesn't fumble around the answers. Can you meet on the water for a test drive? Or hitch to ur truck and drive together? (If she is nervous ask her to have one of her male friends present). If ur going for it I'd line the notary up in advance too. Sometimes they close early on Saturday's etc. Ask her the name of a local one she uses and call for their hours to make sure their open. Hope it works out well. Keep us posted
  13. zip ties and a hose clamp will probably run ya $5 and 10min to install. why not try that first? save the drilling and epoxy for 2nd
  14. ouch~ for you guys that don't wear sunglasses...get some.
  15. i flip the spool every 10-15 handel rotations. works great
  16. i've heard of guys getting interference from the TM so I'm just building a bracket out of 2x4' and mounting to the transom. tons of good youtube vids
  17. great advice. i fish smaller lakes and ponds with very stable environments, and clear water. a 1oz jig diving down would be the equivalent of a 1000lb anchor crashing to bottom. granted they might want that 7 days of the year but for me its 1/4-3/8oz 90% of the time. i would def use 1oz if i was fishing 'big water' with 30-40-60ft drops
  18. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/114909-tubeswhat-is-your-favorite-flavor/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/111340-tubes/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/107444-favorite-river-smallie-bait/ type "favorite tube" or smallie tube in the search. lots of good info. depends on how ur rigging them. some tubes have a solid head which work much better for screw lock hooks. some all hollow. some very thin plastic.
  19. lighten your load? i hold 3 rods comfortably in one hand. other hand is for balance b/c i hike up/down some pretty crazy banks. school style back pack with everything else. i know guys that think i take 2 rods too many.
  20. small window of opportunity but they are great in July and August. the water is just too cold in our neck of the woods most of the year. a kayak will get you far more bang for ur buck. you can really cover water in a yak vs a tube. plus you can stay dry and fish a solid 9 months. if you have a car you will most likely upgrade to a kayak or canoe quickly
  21. btw welcome to the forums. there is no such thing as a stupid question...even if some people here try to make you feel that way. lots of guys are here to help, share knowledge and even hit the water with ya
  22. spent toilet paper rolls. get one every 2-3 weeks (or every 2-3 days if you live with a woman). honestly you won't have surplus line being moved around the more you fish. you'll get better organize, understand ur rod/reel combos, and dedicate them for specific purposes. you'll only add line
