  1. Skunked at the 'Dotte again today. Tried jerkbaits, jigs, shakeyhead, dreamshot, and wiggle wart. Will probably be out there again tomorrow if it's not raining too hard. Only fish I marked were in 30+ feet, which is probably where I'll focus tomorrow. They weren't interested in the drop shot, so maybe a spoon tomorrow...water temp 41-44 degrees.
  2. Already have a non-boater. No spot available.
  3. Blue, I'm planning on being there. I've got a boat and will bring a non-boater. Thanks for putting this together.
  4. Went to wyco with sizzle-man today for about 2 hours. Miserable weather, but quite a few boats out for opening day. He had the audacity to out-fish me from the back of the boat. Tried for green or brown fish on a jerkbait, but nothing happening. Sizzle caught a couple trout in the marina cove that I'll take the credit for because I suggested we fish there. Overall a lot of fun. Hope to see others out there this spring when it warms up.
  5. I'm getting ready to head that way. Looks like the weather should hold off for at least a couple of hours.
  6. Anybody still planning to head out there tomorrow with the rain forecast? I'm on the fence right now...
  7. Mostly a lurker on the forum...mainly because I didn't catch a lot of bass last year and can't get out much, but I'm planning to fish the dotte regularly this year. I'm going to try and make it out for opening day, so hope to see some of you guys there. Will be out in a white and red procraft, so if you see me, come on over and say hello (or share some of your secret baits). We'll probably be huntin' bass as I'm kind of sick of trout already after all that we've caught this winter over at Lake Henry in Lawrence.
  8. I actually wouldn't recommend US Boatworks. They had my ProCraft at their shop for a couple of weeks while they did diagnostics on a carb issue I was having. They took it to the river and then forgot to take the plug out afterwards. The remnants of the hurricane came through that next weekend, and my boat sat literally overflowing with water for several days. They didn't even realize it until I came to pick it up in the middle of the next week. Needless to say, I haven't been back. I had decent experiences with their mechanics, but the management is terrible in my opinion. Bass pro or cabelas for me.
  9. pbrussel - I had the same experience on Saturday at Perry. Fished from 3 p.m to 7:30 p.m. and caught whites, drum, catfish, crappie, and three largemouth. As you know, you can catch whites at will under the rock creek bridge, and it sounds like we fished a lot of the same areas. I had a crankbait get smashed on the bank north of the last docks in rock creek, but immediately broke off. Was hoping for more green and brown fish, but it was nice to catch something for a change. Used a variety of baits, but mostly finesse plastics...got sick of whites trying to impale my crankbait into my finger.
  10. I've fished Middle Creek once with some success. This was last summer, and I found all of my fish either in the coves along the weedlines or on the chunk rock just south of the dam. Caught the ones in the chunk rock off of crankbaits, and the ones in the coves off of flukes and weightless worms. Most everything I caught was non-keeper size, but I haven't had enough experience to make a judgement on the overall quality of the fishery. Did you try any creek channels or other deeper structure or did you beat the shallows?
