For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
We'd throw up shallow and usually get bit before we got halfway back to the boat. Very specific riprap bank that we found that held fish. We didn't land any monsters (might have hooked into one or two), but we probably only caught 2 dinks all day. There's a lot of good structure in that lake if you like that kind of stuff. Road beds, points, islands, etc. There's also usually some nice current that helps position some of the fish. The plant is shut down right now for some issue, so that didn't come into play yesterday. The water was 56 degrees.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Hey guys, Coffey County/Wolf Creek is way too much hassle. Don't worry about going down there. It was super-foggy, I had to wear a device from the 90s on my belt, and it's way farther than Melvern. I'd just stick to fishing a ned rig on the dam at Melvern alongside several of your closest Melvern friends. Sizzle was exaggerating about how many fish we caught. I don't remember us catching anything. I took some pictures of the scenery and photoshopped some fish in them so it would look cool. Enjoy! Cool pic of the water and the fog. I was thinking of taking tomorrow off and would have an empty backseat. Coffey County is the target (melvern as backup if it is closed for some reason). Any takers?

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Depth is on right side of scale on first image. It's right on a break that goes from 10 to 30.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Fished Wyandotte today. I didn't fare well. Caught a couple that were just short of being keepers on jerkbait and tube. Talked to one other that said he had caught about 10. I was really wanting them to bite a moving bait, and they really wouldn't do it. This brush is tough to get pictured right. I can only really get it when I hit it from one angle. This would be the pile that you are talking about.

Soft swimbait was the ticket for me. 3/16 oz strike king swim bait jig head and strike king swim'n caffeine shad. Mine were on the bank directly opposite from the west eisenhower ramp. The point on the edge of that little pocket was money. Good luck! http://www.tacklecenter.com/strike-king/strike-king-kvd-swimn-caffeine-shad-28143?gclid=CP2ArZy7sroCFY9FMgoddh8AMw

Plastic swim bait worked good for me. Caught dinks on ned rig and tube. I'd try shallow points, flats with some wind on them.

Was a darn cold morning and it didn't warm up that much. I think it took the whole drive home for my hands to thaw out. I couldn't get bit in the normal places early in the morning, so I started cruising around. Found a bank where the white bass were just on fire. Was throwing a strike king caffeine shad, and getting the rod ripped out of my hands. Those were in the back of a large creek, and about halfway out of that creek I got my best fish of the day in about a 18" of water. A 3.5 lb largemouth on the caffeine shad on a flat near a secondary point. Caught several dinks after that on ned rig and tube. I flew solo today, so my pictures aren't great. Blue might have one of me with my big fish.

I've still got an open back seat as well. 60 hp...four-stroke. I can't believe Sizzle isn't all over one of these seats...where is that guy?

Alright, I'm in and will be there by 8:30. May have a spot on the back if somebody is interested. Somebody pick a ramp. I'm familiar with the marina one, but wouldn't mind using the state ramp since it would be free.

Now, I'm thinking about taking the day off. What time are you guys heading out there?

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
I didn't spend much time up by the dam, although I did spend some time throwing a deep diving crankbait at Clayton's pile. The little time I was up there, I did not see anything. Honestly, the only fish I marked were in Wilson's cove on some deep rock piles. We should have fished there, but didn't even stop to do so. I could still see the thermocline on the main lake, but towards the end of the evening, the whole marina cove was turning over. The sonar was going nuts. I think the lake is probably in that fall transition period right now especially with the cool weather last night and today.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
It sucked. After being skunked for 2.5 hours and it starting to get dark, I finally broke down and started throwing a ned rig. Caught a nice white and a couple dink largemouth. My brother put one on and hooked a "leaf". Turned out to be a fish that was seriously smaller than the ned rig he was throwing. There was a massive bug hatch going on, which is why I think the ned rig worked when nothing else did.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
A little embarassed to post the results from yesterday at DSFL. Caught fish pretty consistently early on the wacky rig, then bite seemed to die off as the north wind picked up. Dam didn't produce that well, but the rocky piers held most of our fish. Only put 10 fish in the boat between three of us. My nine year old nephew boated four and my wife and I each boated three. He had fun, so mission accomplished. If I were to go back tomorrow, I would throw a frog or buzzbait across the shallow weeds. Had a couple of nice bites, and then broke my really nice buzz bait off on this same rod that I must've lost $50 worth of baits on this year. Something is catching the line and causing it to break when I cast that I need to figure out. Marked a ton of brush and rock piles?? that were put in on that one bank before they refilled it. Caught a single crappie trolling off of those with crappie jigs.

Thinking of taking my 9 year old nephew tomorrow to Douglas just to get on some numbers. What baits did you use that were easy for a five year old? Any areas better than others?

Catchin' The Bigguns In La Cygne
I don't have much to add, as la cygne usually kicks my butt. We've caught a few decent bass on plastic worms north of the outlet, on the rocky bank with the river channel. I've caught fish on jerk baits near the outlet. My best trips to la cygne have been catching wiper on the road bed (look at the lake with google maps and it is obvious) with vertically jigged rattle traps or spoons and fishing for crappie on the south end near the dam.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Blue - Ok, I know the one you are talking about. I marked it Sunday and punched a waypoint but wasn't recording at the time. I'll get you and sizzle some good pics next time. Salenity - Lowrance hds 7 gen 2. Got an hds 5 on the way for the bow. Had humminbirds on my last boat and now trying lowrance. Pros and cons to each brand.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Yes. I found a small piece of brush on the dam, but it was too shallow to be the one you were talking about. There's lots of interesting stuff in that area that I found, but I'm still searching for that pile.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
I bet some of you will know what this is...I'm curious if anybody knows for sure. I don't want to post where, so if the answer gives away the location send me a pm.

Scrogg, I need live updates throughout the day. Stuck at work...

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Cool. I'll try to remember to find it next time out and post an image. I know of about three others on a certain bank that I need to mark. I'm not sure many know about the one that I graphed above. It's on an underwater point and it's off the bank a little ways. There's lots of good boulders around the area too in 15-25' of water. I've fished the brush a few times without much luck, but I need to spend some more time on the rest of the area.
