Lake Olathe does not require any special permits. It is not like the Jackson County Lakes. There is a speed limit of 10mph, which you'll want to watch out for in that kayak!

Based on chatter over on another board it looks like the Kansas State Record LM has fallen. 13.29lb fish caught at Clark State Fishing Lake. Fisherman was from OK. Still think there is a 10+ fish or two in La Cygne, but I'm not sure I know where to go to find another 13+ in Kansas.

Yeah, it was fun to actually weigh fish. I didn't have a good culling system, so we tried culling once and then just gave up and tried to catch a really big one. Those little suckers are almost impossible to get out of a full livewell. Should have brought a minnow net... I would appreciate a quicker weigh in next time. It was tough enough to get the time off from wife and baby and spending an extra hour at the ramp didn't help my cause to be able to do this again soon. I know having only one ramp made it tough to get everybody out (especially in the dark). Just my two cents.

2.79 lbs won with big bass coming in at a whopping .99lbs . Most everybody weighed in their limit of sub 13" fish, and not a single fish over 18" was caught. Not sure if any of us even caught any slot (13-18") fish that we had to throw back...

There's usually one or more spring and fall get-togethers where we have a tourney for fun. There are two coming up this fall. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/140979-2014-fall-strip-pitt-classic/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/140246-kc-area-bass-resource-fall-meet-up/ Rumors of a tourney series next year on local lakes on a weeknight if there's enough interest...

I use these almost exclusively now. 1/16th oz unless I'm fishing real deep, and then I go to 1/8th. http://mondotackle.com/item/P012000320001240.html

So, the report from Perry was pretty so-so. We tried docks, both marinas, and some other places in between. Saw RJ986 out there, and he had a good one when we pulled up. He couldn't get his scale out of kilograms, so The best spot turned out to be a main lake point with a shallow, somewhat offshore ridge. Blue got a 3.57 lb smallmouth there on a shakeyhead, while I was just happy to catch a mess of whites and a decent largemouth from the same spot. We had to leave once Blue started getting giddy after he caught two drum on back to back casts with the ned. Later on, Blue lost what appeared to be a 5-6lb class largemouth on a shakeyhead in a marina, which would have really capped off the trip. Final score...SuperFluke zero drum, Bluebasser86 two drum, so I win.

Grand prize will be awarded to he who catches the fewest drum. Should be a good one.

This sounds exactly like one of my boat projects. What better way to test whether you have power or not to something than minor electrocution? Good luck! Hopefully the pros can figure it out quickly and cheaply. I'm not a fan of US Boatworks either but that's a whole other story for a future get together.

Sounds like my kind of project. I'd grab a voltimeter and start testing stuff. I'd start at one of the pumps or at one of your lowrance/humminbird units and work backwards towards the battery to see if I could find a common point of failure. Could be a bad connection at the battery or something along the way between the battery and the board. If you're getting power to the board, then you can check the switches individually. Each switch usually has its own breaker that you might check. My lowrances are wired directly to the battery with a fuse in between so that I don't have to go through the accessory switch. If your's is the same, then you've got something going on either at the battery connections or with the battery itself.

Which electronics? Your gauges or your humminbird/lowrance?

Good times at the Mondo today. Blue looked like he was selling some baits. I got to meet Lake and Grace got to meet Brent.

Welcome! That was my pic of the rock crusher. When you catch that big one, get a pic for the board.

I fished perry last Wed. It wasn't hot and heavy, but you could catch a few lm and sm in the usual places identified on here. The private docks in rock creek, the manmade riprap around the big marinas, the manmade point guarding the rock creek marina are all solid producers and close by if you put in at the state ramp. The drum were all over the dam. I tried one offshore hump that had some rock, but only caught one white bass on a deep crank. I know a couple years ago perry was discussed pretty heavily by those on the board, and there's some good info back in those posts that I always look back on before I go out there. I'll always pick Melvern over most any other lake around KC just because you can usually catch good numbers of sm with occasional 3+ lb fish thrown in. If you run into a lm out there, it's usually a good one. It's also much less crowded than perry, clinton, hillsdale, etc. The reports lately haven't been encouraging, but I can almost guarantee you'll catch fish if you go down the dam for awhile.

Blue with nothing but a john boat. That's just sad. Hope you can save up and get something better soon. The bass in kansas are getting off easy this summer.

Fished NEBO and Perry today with a couple brothers. Didn't do that great at either one but still put a few in the boat. Shallow crank at nebo did most all our damage and shakeyhead or tube at Perry. Biggest was 2.8lbs on a shakeyhead in rock creek arm. My brother had a 4 or 5 lb'er inhale his shallow crank near a dock in rock creek, but a "reel malfunction" prevented him from setting the hook. Fun day regardless. Side note...talked to a local fishing the bank at nebo. Guy said he caught a 23" lm on a beetle spin and catches fish in the pads on a frog all the time. We tried frogging the pads for a bit bit never had a single strike.

Weightless texas rig..like this. More here - http://zoombait.com/2009/08/how-to-rig-zoom-super-fluke/ I will sometimes put a snap swivel in front to help add a little weight.
