  1. I've got a quick question for all you guys. I've got a 17ft bass tracker with a 50hp merc. It runs great but when I first get on the throttle the bow rises and then at full throttle the bow comes back down to about 1 foot off the water running about 30mph. It doesn't feel as if it is on plane. The motor also as a "dol-fin" on it. I feel that it just pushes the water instead of getting on top of it. I have the motor trimed all the way down. Do I need to trim up the motor to help get the bow up a little. It just doesn't feel right at full throttle, the bow's height from the water is the same when the boat it just sitting in the water and at full throttle. Just wondering what you guys think I could do to help get the bow up a little. Thanks.
  2. That is awesome! I've the the 50hp Merc. Good luck with the project and have fun with it.
  3. Has anyone ever rhino lined the bottom of their aluminium boat? I know that LBH had tried it with limited success? Just wondering if anyone has done this and how they went about doing so. Do you have it professionally done or can you do it yourself? Thanks for the input.
  4. Sweet Project! Is that a 17ft tracker? If it is that is the exact same boat I just go about 4 months ago. The previous owner had redone everything a lot what you are going to do. Tons of storage with a rod locker that will hold a 7'6" rod. Can't wait to see what it looks like when you done with it.
  5. That kota 30 will have no problem. I used mine all last year on our 12ft jon, in a 35 acre lake. No ploblems at all. We also use a 50# minn kota to push our 22ft long (12 FOOT beam) ; party barge ;D on the same lake. No gas on the lake and that minn kota pushes it with ease.
  6. Just wondering what you guys thinks about using your cruise control while pulling your boats. I have a 2004 F-150 5.4l v-8 and my dealer said that it wouldn't be a problem. But on my last fishing trip my buddy said that he never uses it and that it not good for the truck to use your cruise while towing. Just wondering what you guys think and do while towing your rigs. Thanks for the input. -late
  7. Thanks for the info, I did get the lid off the motor. The release was really stuck though.
  8. Yeah I too have seen that info thing on tv and it does seem pretty amazing. It seems like a no-brainer, but it does seem too good to be true. They even cut to oil line off to the motor and ran the motor and it did just fine to get you back safe. I guess it goes into "safe" mode and idles to get you back without hurting the motor. They either hit a home run with this new motor or their marketing department deserves a HUGE raise. Either way, they have me sold on the idea.
  9. This is probably a dumb question but I can't figure it out and I'm looking for some help. Just got an '82 17' bass tracker with an '82 50hp Merc on it and I can't seem to find the release to pop the motor cover off to get at the engine. Its the taller OB and it looks like the cover is a "wrap" around kind. Any advice would be wonderful!!!
  10. Nice start! Looks like your heading in the right direction. Be sure to keep us updated.
  11. Thanks for all your comments. Can't wait for spring!! ;D
  12. Hello everyone! I just joined and enjoy reading everything this site has to offer! I have read a lot about the different types of jon boat conversions on these message boards and have seriously given them some thought as of late. I guess you could say I was "inspired" on how creative one can get with a jon boat. My question is this: How stable is 1436 jon? I want something that I am able to stand up in to fish. Is a 1436 jon reasonable for this or should I be looking for something at least a 1444 or 1448? (also, i'm 6'7" tall, just thought I would toss that in) Any help would be wonderful.
