  1. I don't think it is necessary to spool 1/3 of your spool though. I may use 10-15 yds at most. Mike
  2. I was told by a salesperson in a specialty sunglass shop, that Maui Jim and Costa (580 G) have the same lens tech. Everyone seems to say that the Costa's have the best lenses for fishing purposes. This is just what I've heard. Mike
  3. The Mojo compared to an LTB is not fair. But when it comes to the Avid, I actually like them more than the Legends without even considering the price. Mike
  4. I never understand all the debate about gear ration. At 6.4:1 you are right in the middle. Reel faster or reel slower Mike
  5. Get a round Abu Garcia (Made in Sweden), hard to find a stronger reel for under a hundie. If they can handle muskie fishing, they can handle bass swimbaits. Mike
  6. Nonetheless, the laws of supply and demand set the price. If noone would pay 65,000 for a boat, there would not be a boat that cost $65,000. Mike
  7. With all due respect, if this is the case, why does TX "collect" bass over 13 lbs to use for breeding/stocking. Also why did CA stock FL Strain largemouth? Mike
  8. How does a spinning reel help with depth perception? I have more control with bc reels. Mike
  9. 160 acres and 90 acres are ponds??? Count your blessings. I am in no way an expert in this subject, but at some point, genetics takes over no matter what they eat. I would assume this is the basis behind the TX program. Just like when people raise deer, they don't keep feeding spikes hoping they grow, they remove them from breeding. Mike
  10. NCLifetimer knows a thing or two about Economics. Good answer. Mike
  11. Stay single and fish more. Mike
  12. In my opinion In-Fisherman , Anglers Edge, The Bass Pros and Joe Bucher have the best shows. My ears bleed when they tell me about catching bass in the winter when they are fishing in Mexico in short sleeves and getting a sunburn. Excuse me, I live in PA, that AIN'T winter. If they don't give water temp, depth and month they are fishing, the rest is useless. Just like with everything else a baseline is needed. I also like the tournament coverage shows, but I don't group them the same as informational shows. I may have left out good shows that my cable system doesn't carry. Mike
  13. Get a 1/4 ounce black buzzbait reel it in steadily so it churns on top. Fish a black jitterbug with a slow retrieve at dusk. Keep using the worm rig as described, use 4"-6" worms, any type of purple, green pumpkin, watermelon. Read the articles on using a senko. If you do not catch a bass using these techniques switch ponds. Mike
  14. Not until St.Croix is buying my Avids for me. Mike
  15. Gander Mountain will have combos under or slightly over $100 that will serve you well. Mike
  16. Take the braid off the spool, DO NOT THROW AWAY. PUT 20-30 yds of mono backing on spool (similiar line diameter). Tie the braid directly to the mono and spool up. Mike
  17. I've mentioned this before, but in the muskie fishing world, anglers live and die by the moonrise, moonset, and sunset. Any given day can be horible fishing but hese are the best times of the worst days. If the muskies react positively at these times, bass should react likewise. Mike
  18. I know exactly what you mean by this and I totally agree. I agree with those that say the line makes the most differnce in feeling the bite. Mike
  19. You will do much better with new equipment. Send me the old rods and I will dispose of them for you. Mike
  20. Good retort, but it isn't necessarily that easy. The times should be given in the Solunar Tables. Mike
  21. He handled that waaaaaaay better than I would have. Mike
