  1. I thought he was already using a Shimano. I just assumed...OK, first buy a Shimano, then watch "How to Adjust a Baitcaster". Mike Just kidding Lews' guys.
  2. Go to the Fishing Rods, REELS, and Line forum and watch the video on "How to Setup a Baitcaster". Mike
  3. Fish it often, going tommorrow morning. Have caught some smallies the past month. Where I am fishing it is a first light type of topwater bite. We are done about 830. Fishing shallow water by wading, no boat. There are some good fish in the river, they are tough to catch no doubt. A good place to start is below the damns. There are plenty of shallow flats in the river. There are spots where you can wade 50-100 yds into the river. Mike
  4. Send me a pm let me know where you live, I am around the PIT Airport. Mike
  5. Whatever rod you pick, I would go with a medium rather than a medium heavy. Mike
  6. guitarkid you beat me to it, these are durable as well. There are probably many different bags for different needs in army surplus. Mike
  7. I use an older style turkey vest with big pockets. I can easily carry five or six 3600 I believe and a 3700 or two in the back pouch. In the snall front pockets I keep my bags of worms and spinner/buzz baits. Mike
  8. Congrats. Mike
  9. No offense, but I believe there are better choices than an Ugly Stik. For a few dollars more, I would go with a Tech Spec from Dick's. Get a medium power fast action. There are many other choices, just one that comes to mind. Mike
  10. I don't want to make anyone angry, just give good advice. Check out tinboats.net. You will get the information you need. Mike
  11. But if Shimano made shakey head jigs, they would be way better than the Lew's shakey heads!!! Mike
  12. If you keep your reels on your rods, MAKE SURE to leave enough room. Mike
  13. BassinNY, With all due respect, at almost 4 times the price of a PQ, the Core better d**n well blow you away. Mike
  14. Buzzbaits across deeper riffles. Mike
  15. Great stuff. Mike
  16. In the Pittsburgh Craigslist as well. I report it everytime. I looked up the basic NADA value and I think it was $11,500. Mike
  17. I worked at one for ten years. This is true at least at the store I worked. The individual stores have very little control over what they stock. Mike
  18. Same here, where in PA? Mike
  19. You almost can't fish them wrong as long as they are in the water. Mike
  20. I have been scoring lately on the Pop-R. This is on the flats of the Ohio River (BIG) at first light and at dusk. I also throw 1/8 oz buzzbaits. If you are fishing smaller rivers(riffles/pools), try fishing a buzzbait through the deeper riffles, they whack it. Mike
  21. Don't give up, that is why it is called "fishing" and not "catching". If it is hot, try to fish at dusk, (jitterbug and buzzbait). Also try to fish the **** crack of dawn. Mike
  22. When casting straight overhead, it is easy to rotate the spool too quickly. It is much easier to cast from the side or at 1000 and 200 positions. Many times if a really long cast is not needed, I cast inderhand almost like a long pitch. Mike
  23. That fish must have been a Yankees fan. Mike
  24. Sure some anglers like more refined gear. But, if someone is asking what they should buy without any qualifiers, then they have no business spending over $200 per outfit. Seriously, you can't get much of an outfit for $200???? C'mon stop teasing. : ) Mike
