  1. Agree with both Long Mike and Fishing Rhino, but the points from Fishing Rhino can be followed by all. Some of us don't have the luxury to observe boating safety. But seriously great points by both. What causes my eyes to bleed is seeing huge bass with their jaws bent in all different directions or big muskies cradled against the chest or arms of the lucky angler. The fish might need their jaws or that slime on their body to survive... just sayin'. Mike
  2. Most of my fishing is done with a medium fast action be it my Avid or any number of other rods. I usually fish from shore and use one rod. This power/action combo handles the largest diversity of baits. Mike
  3. K-Mac, that was strong good post. I realize that you don't want to buy them, but keep an eye open at DSG, they have trebles on clearance all the time for under $1 for five or six trebles. Mike
  4. It didn't take too long, maybe the second or third trip and it felt like I was always casting lefty. Like when I switched from a compound to a longbow, don't try to do both. Leave the righty's at home solely use the lefty. You will get it, don't give up. My next goal is to cast my righty reels with my left hand and reeling with my right, so I don't have to switch hands with the righty's. Good Luck, Mike
  5. From someone who does not have a boat, I would make it work. Beats the heck out of fishing from shore. Think of it this way, you better not buy the boat because it might be too windy on the lake for that size. You better hold out for a 20 ft Ranger that will handle the wind better. If it fits your budget, buy it and just fish. There is always something bigger and better. Just the opinion of someone who would fish the heck out of that boat and trolling motor. Mike
  6. Same twisted humor here. Mike
  7. Uh, I believe it is a well-oiled machine. : ) Mike
  8. I wouldn't waste my money. I would get an Abu Garcia 4600 or 5500 and you should be comfortably under a hundie. Mike
  9. I would buy two Curados and send them to DVT. Mike
  10. Defimitly backup what LMG said a 3/16 spinnerbait is no problem with a Curado 201E. Something like a small PopR is no problem either. In fact I am going to go throw a few PopR's right now. Mike
  11. I don't have a link but the knot that PowerPro shows in their brochure is very strong and very easy to tie. Mike
  12. You may want to think about putting the trolling motor in front. I have read plenty of posts that said they work better in front. Just giving an idea. Mike
  13. If it ain't broke...you know the rest. Mike
  14. More viewers??? I thought the coverage was horrible. The coverage for the PGH Classic was one of the best. You could have had the PGH Classic during the spawn you wouldn't get FLA weights. It is the prespawn, the fish are the heaviest. Plus I think they are kinda copying NASCAR with the "Super Bowl" at the beginning of the season. Mike
  15. Although I am not a bait tester, I would say that a good command of the English language, both written and verbal, would be a bonus. Also, being able to give a speech, or presentation in front of a larger number of people should be mastered. Mike
  16. I along with my kids went to the FWC when it was in PGH. It was awesome. The pros were great with requests for pictures with the kids. There were free games and giveaways for the kids too. There was not much for sale in PGH, enough to be interesting though. I had a great time. I also went to the dock where they launched on the last day. We were right above the boats on a long concrete dock. The final 10 pros were talking freely with people. There were plenty of pros that didn't make the top 10 that were talking. I must have talked to JT Kinney (sp?) for an hour on general fishing and the specific Three Rivers. He is a cool dude. It was a great time, go. Mike
  17. Sounds good, I can understand that.Mike
  18. Count me in the posse', two Calcutta's, 2 Curado's, and a Citica. This is not a have v. have not question. I want a Chronarch to see how good it is, since it is a level above the Curado. My question is: What does the Core offer that it is basically twice as much as the Chronarch. Is it a durability thing, the lighter weight or just knowing you have the top Shimano? I understand it has more expensive components, but does it fish that much better? I was strictly an Abu guy until I made my first cast with a Calcutta. Mike
  19. I always thought chine walking was when the boat "slid" across the water when trying to go straight. Learn something new everyday. Mike
  20. Don't believe those guys, that is not a good reel. I feel badly that you've been taken for your hard-earned $50. Send the reel to me and I will send you $50 and "dispose" of the reel properly. Mike
  21. I love my Avids, this sounds dumb, but Ilike them better than my Legends. The Legends seem tip heavy to me. Mike
  22. 1. I don't fish for money. 2. I can cut it with my teeth if I forget my scissors. 3. I fish from shore and wade with ONE rod. I need a rod for all techniques. 4. If I snag 50 lbs. braid at the beginning of the cast 30 yds out, what do I do? 5. I fish probably 50% topwater. 6. Very affordable. 7. I break off very few fish. Mike
  23. Very nice boat. Goodluck and Godspeed Mike
  24. I fish these same places in SW PA. My favorit stik is a 7' M-F Avid (St. croix with a Curado 201. This outfit can get you by with a lot of different baits. I wish the rod would be a 7'6" model. I like a stiffer medium because I can still throw a weightless stickworm as far as I care too or a 3/16 spinnerbait. The MH-F is a good option too but it will cut you short and be harder to throw the light baits. If you throw more 3/4 spinnerbaits than 3/16 spinnerbaits get the MH. But for SW PA I lean more to the smaller baits. Hope this helps. Although I prefer the Curado I have a Citica that I am just as happy with and will allow you to save a few bucs. Go Buccos Mike
  25. Great info. Thanks, Mike
