  1. He deserves whatever beating he got. Mike
  2. I just watched my first Lunkerville a few days ago, great show. Loved the Doors since college, they are in my top 5. Mike
  3. Stasher1, What is wrong with the Abu Garcia 4600? I love the Calcutta's, I think that is what you meant but really the 4600 is awesome. Mike
  4. I don't bother with a trailer or trailer hook. i will use a piece of floating worm on the hook on small buzzbaits to give a little more weight to cast. This is not long enough to be a trailer and should keep it on top easier. Mike
  5. I've been looking at knots because everyone loves the Palomar and I hate it. Anyway I realized that I don't think I tie a named knot, or else I can't find it. I tie it like an improved clinch but I go through the eye twice. When finishing I don't do the "improved" part. what is this a double clinch knot??? I don't use this for braid. The best knot I have used is the one PowerPro suggests for their braid. I don't use this for mono because it takes a little longer to tie. I can tie the first knot I mentioned in the dark. Mike
  6. For spimmerbaits, Trilene XT 17 lbs green. Mike
  7. I am surprised that so many like/use the Palomar knot. I find it hard to tie and I never felt confidence in the knot. Mike
  8. Make sure you wet the knot (any knot) befoe you tighten down. Mike
  9. Hey, what's wrong with a big, black Jitterbug??? It's my favorite too! What's the deal with these Cavitrons, why are they everyone's favorite? Mike
  10. Your line should not touch the water when properly working the buzzbait. Mike
  11. Very carefully. Seriously though, I prefer to backreel with a spinning reel rather than trust the drag. Mike
  12. You are certainly 100% on the money with your last statement. Mike
  13. That was a pretty cheap shot. I talked to DVT on the phone and he gave me waaay more time out of his workday than I expected and he was very helpful. He will be getting a bunch of my reels end o' season and one that needs fixed shortly. I would recommend him. Mike
  14. St. Croix Premiere and any spinning reel you want. i think spinning reels are waaaay overpriced and besides being lighter I don't see how they are better. The spool is stationary an expensive one can't help you cast farther. oops I forgot about the triple platinum-gold plated cryogenically hardened spool lip. But seriously a St. Croix Premiere is probably a good mix of durability and quality. Mike
  15. I love fishing buzzbaits followed closely by spooks. Mike
  16. Watch Glenn's video, he is always right on the $$$$$. Mike
  17. I fish from shore, I can't stand having to carry another rod. I keep a spare in the car in case of disaster. I am usually wading or walking, never in one spot. I would hate carrying a couple rods with me on shore. I do carry an extra reel in case I ever get one of those, what are they called backlashes? Never had one yet but I gear they are bad??? I read an article by Rick Clunn about getting used to one rod for all techniques, it was interesting. I grab my 7' M or MH Avid and can fish just about everything with it. I would not know what to do with 12 different rod actions. Mike
  18. I think your selection of rod/reel is ok, but I think a lighter action rod would be better for Pop Rs and the like. Mike
  19. I meant something a little smaller than a car, maybe I should have qualified that. Again be safe and get home to buy her the SUV.
  20. It sounds like her only health problem is the blindness. If this is correct I would not have her put down for this necessarily. I am not a cat person, but could you try to provide a litter box close to where she spends the most time, her "secure" room. Also, if the dog can be lept away from her so as to not startle her. If she is eating and drinking and doing 1 and 2 regularly she still sounds healthy. Good luck with her. Mike
  21. X2 much easier to show than to explain how. Mike
  22. Skoal Fine Cut Wintergreen Mike
  23. You have found a very important piece to the puzzle. Minor bottom variations/depth changes within cover are the spots on spots. Don't confuse cover (weeds/logs) with structure (points/creek beds). Mike
  24. I think Books-A-Million has the best selection. Mike
