  1. Made the 2 hr drive to bps for the ever popular reel trade in, wanting a 7.1:1 Johnny Morris Signature reel for Carolina Rig and Jigging. With coupon in hand, was disappointed to find out the store only had 6.4:1 in stock, which I ended up buying, but am now questioning my decision. The line recovery is 28", which I think should be plenty, but I guess I just need some re-assurance on my decision... What do u think???
  2. I'm actually struggling with this same question currently... I'm looking for a carolina, and jig setup and am 99.9% set on a 7.1:1 for faster pickup, but worry about the power for some of the beasts that dwell down there. For the baits you listed, 7.1:1 seems to be the right choice like f and p mentioned. Good luck and congrats on the new rig ;-)
  3. After reading a few posts, I guess I'm a bit perplexed. I live in NH, and my wife and I fished many tournaments last yr with 3 different clubs, and we never saw anything like what is described here. We were welcomed, respected, and asked to come back by every one of the clubs. As a matter of fact, every tournament we fished had at least 3, sometimes more, women in the tourney. Bass fishing is bass fishing. There is absolutely nothing in bass fishing that a man can do any more effectively than a woman, other than perhaps relieving themselves with a bit less hassle (large dunkin donuts cup works well for my wife here lol). Perhaps I am just one of the lucky few, but I am sure that just about every man on the lake wishes they could look over and see their woman out there with them, adding to the livewell.
  4. Another vote for XPS here...
  5. So the time has come to spoil myself, and buy myself a top of the line rod for Carolina rigging and jigging. Looking for feedback on falcon and kistler rods to help with the decision making process...
