  1. you should be able to get a pair of bocas for $20
  2. I like 6'8 length for dropshot. Ive used a dobyns champion, cumara, and phenix m1. All great rods and very sensitive. I prefer 1000 size reels, there lighter, and there is no problems with line twist if you use braid & flouro leaders. At the moment I have a 6'8 cumara, 1000 size ci4, and 10lb power pro/6lb leader as my dedicated drop shot setup.
  3. I started using braid a few years ago and was tying straight to the hook. When i heard about tying flouro leaders two years ago i started doing it and ive had great results. I think im going to start trying full braid again, and only tie leaders for dropshot.
  4. I think i said shimano core back on page 1 or 2, im going to retract that and say the daiwa pxl-r i just got is better. Im loving this reel....
  5. Id go for the 51e, i like the smaller profile reel.
  6. Vagabond airbait
  7. Im using a 6'8 cumara medium x-fast rod with no complaints, i can haul them out of the pads
  8. My TW order came in, got a gg colored pop-x, wanted one for a while now... Some mist green flouroclear, two bags of owner shakeyheads, and some vagabond airworms to try for shakeyhead. I love the 4.5 inch for dropshot. Also picked up a used chronarch 51mg lastnight, pretty excited for that reel to come in
  9. I agree with kicker, i just picked up my first two daiwas, the px type r, and an alphas 103f and there amazing reels. Id look for used alphas/sol's...
  10. My favorites are pline flouroclear, yozuri hybrid ultra soft, and hi-seas grand slam...
  11. Nice fish man, theres huge bass in jersey, just gotta find em.....
  12. try out a wacky rigged 4 inch senko bud
  13. i use the zoom horny toad hook and also have trouble hooking up, most of the time ill tie on a hollow body frog on instead with a lake fork trailer hook then i dont have a worries....
  14. i have a core 51 and curado 51 and the only difference for me is weight and the gear ratio... I love light weight, but a supertuned curado sounds like the way to go bud.
  15. ^ that was a good read, thanks for the link.
  16. Speaking of that reel, i had it out for the first time today and it was a pleasure to fish with. I also had my core 51 out as well comparing them and i couldnt find which one i liked better, both amazing reels... On the downside, the tdz 103 i picked up was a let down. I open the box and the handle cover is missing, then i look at the spool and theres a hairline crack in it. Not sure if im going to be fixing this one up or hoping i can send it back for a refund....
  17. I put the orange seals in my core and curado, heres the number Boca Spool Bearing Kit ABEC 7 Orange Seal FR-008C-OS LD
  18. Thanks kicker, I think in all my hobbies I go on a buying spree until I figure what I like best... Right now I've got it down to shimano rods, shimano spinning reels, and daiwa baitcasters. When the money recoups it might be nrx time
  19. I caught 11 pickerel today on shakeyhead, lol My 3 steups i use is 6'5 cumulus with sustain 1000 fg 6lb 6'8 cumara with ci4 1000 6lb 6'8 cumara with curado 51 8-10lb
  20. I had a lews tourney pro and thought it was a great reel, but after ive had shimanos and daiwas in my hand theres no going back.... Nice review though
