Guys I Am Super Bummed Out :-(
Long story short my 1989 Cajun bass boat had to be sold. The acronym boat was holding true for bust out another thousand. It was turning into one problem after another and I had to sell it. The good news is spring 2016 I will be getting another boat. The bad news is I will not have a boat until then and I will be forced to bank fish which I have not done in about two years. Has anyone else had this issue before?

I used to use those Walmart $1 spinner baits. Then I got tired after each day of fishing when the skirts fell off.

What Is This Mystery Lever?
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreDo newer boats have a fast idle lever?

What Is This Mystery Lever?
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreI had a loose wire for the electronic choke. ;-) That lever is basically a mechanism that raises the RPMs. Could possibly be beneficial in cold conditions.

What Is This Mystery Lever?
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreSo my electronic choke doesn't work anymore. I now have to remove engine cover, switch it by hand up, crank it, then switch it off, then replace the cover, then start the motor. Rather than chase wire issues, can I just use this new found lever and save me the troubles????

What Is This Mystery Lever?
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreI did some more research and it looks to be a "fast idle lever". People say when it is engaged it doesn't allow the throttle to move out of the neutral position to either forward or reverse which is the case with mine. I'm still not sure if the functionality of it??? Some people on the web said that they use it as a "choke" method and others say it is used to help the cold motor warm up faster. I'm not sure on the choke issue because the electric choke o have now will "close" the three carburetor ports and if you use the fast idle lever it will "open" them. This is two different things. Unless like when starting an older car you would "pump" the gas pedal to help start the older car. Any ideas or input???

What Is This Mystery Lever?
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreI don't think it's a choke unless it's an auxiliary one. I have an electric choke already (push the key in before you crank it and you hear a "click" at the motor).

What Is This Mystery Lever?
I was working on painting the control box yesterday when I accidentally stumbled across this lever. I never noticed it before. It lifts almost straight up and then goes back flush when you push it back down. When I crank the boat up and leave it in idle neutral, I lift the lever up and the RPM's go up. But once the lever is engaged the regular throttle handle does not move. What is this? On a 1989 Cajun with a Johnson 70 two stroke.

Cost Of Being A Pro
It depends on how bad you want it. Some people enjoy spending that money and are rewarded more than monetarily for the BASS wins. I don't see many of the pros dropping out because of the cost. Some may have other jobs, some may invest money elsewhere so that they can have a cushion in the bank, others have a different situation. Fact is to each his own. Yes the sport may be expensive but if you can make more than you owe then you are ahead. If it isn't enough to compensate for the "job" of being a pro, then that line is drawn from person to person. If I'm good, have the money, have the gear, and a family that supports me, then I'm in. Just my .02. Joe

Break Action 12 Gauge
My father in law have it to me. It's about 20 years old. I want to learn with it. I just don't want to feel like a nerd out there lol. I guess a better question would've been "do people still hunt with these?" :-)

Break Action 12 Gauge
I'm just starting bird hunting for duck, dove, etc. Maybe deer and other game in the future. All I have right now to start is a single shot break action 12 gauge. Is this way old? Time to upgrade? Or do people still use these?

Weird Motor Issue
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreAnd I'm not knowledgable?? How do you know who I talked to here in NC at engine repair shops? How do you know that I myself have not been working on motors for a few dozen years? How do you know what I know? Here's YOUR sign. I also don't appreciate the way you're talking about me. You need to learn some respect.

Weird Motor Issue
5 Dollar Fishing Game replied to 5 Dollar Fishing Game's topic in Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks and moreSure it can. If the 1989-1995 engine configuration doesn't work well with the ethanol in the mixture then it can cause surging. Also, I've run the boat many times since the change and not only has the issue stayed gone, but it runs better. Try diesel fuel in a car that calls for gas and run it. Then change back to gasoline (if it still runs) and see if the change works. I've talked to guys at the tourney Ramos and all of them concur with the same issue and resolution. The ethanol powered fuel here can cause intermittent plug fouling and other fuel burning issues.
