  1. Not picky. I've caught toads on the Walmart specials.
  2. Braid does not do well with the San Diego jam. I always use Palomar for braid!!!
  3. Im hoping it just stays normal lol. Power packs sound expensive. Are they the 3 coil packs with the spark plug wires attached to them? Almost like coil packs on a newer model car.
  4. It gradually died out like it was losing fuel. I'm hoping it just sucked up some junk. :-)
  5. That sounds like a possibility. The motor is usually extremely smooth non issue. I'm glad it stopped after that. :-)
  6. My 1995 Johnson 70 two stroke did something strange today. Took my wife and daughter to the lake today. No fishing. Just cruising around. We ran wide open for about 5 minutes 3 different times. Then all of a sudden it started bogging like it was running out of gas. Lurched about 3 times. I backed off the throttle, and slowed it down to about half. Did fine for a minute. Then the same. Then I put it to the floor to see if it would do anything. The motor seemed like it was idling. Then it cut off. I checked the tank. Half full. We sat in the middle of the lake and are for about five minutes. Let the mirror relax. Cracked it up. Perfect. Ran wide open rest of the day at different times. No issues. This never happened before since January when I had it. Pee hole was working fun. New NGK plugs about a month ago. Fuel filter replaced in January. Could the filter have been stopped up by something or does it need replacing again? I use the boat about once a week. Also, I have been using the same fuel and oil mix. Thanks! Joe
  7. Yep. Now tell me the winning lotto numbers. ;-)
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I've said it before.
  9. Over $330 for the unit. I spent under $10 and tightened the unit myself. Painted it too and looks and functions new. :-)
  10. Also, will the unit come with a new key? Or does it use the internals of my existing ignition cylinder?
  11. I think it is called an ignition box. It is the "box" looking thingy that the key goes into on my 1989 Cajun. I have a Johnon 70 two stroke on it. Anyway, the box is raggedy looking and the electronic choke is hit or miss, cables feel like they "stretch" at the point of the box. Boat runs great but now the ignition key base on the box is loose. Basically I need to replace the box. Do I match the box to the boat or the motor when I'm searching around? And is this a pretty simple job? Or do I need a pro tech to do the job? I have years of auto tech experience and tons of tools. Didn't know how much of a job this is. Thanks! Joe

  13. Buy a new one..........
  14. I understand where the OP is coming from. Pressure is on for me also. I am now fishing with BPS team here in NC as a local pro. I need to keep my game up to par a lot more. I have to learn and utilize new lures and tactics almost daily. Sometimes when the bite isn't on or the fish are dinks I feel like I am losing a battle. I feel burned out. I feel like I've wasted time. Then I try to take a step back and look at the big picture. I want to fish to relax and have fun. If it ever seems like it's time to take a break then I've done something wrong. I could be too hard on myself or try to hard to fish and lose the enjoyment. Like A-Jay said, try some new waters, new lures, techniques, ETC.
  15. Treble hooks on a frog defeat its' purpose. Don't believe me? Throw it one time on a bed of grass muck....... You'll be an instant believer in the top two hooks only.
  16. From the sportsman banquet last night in NC. They were really nice. Talked for a while. Jimmy told me to wear my shades indoors so I can look as cool as him lol
  17. thanks again for all of the support guys !!!!
  18. So is the suggestion here that rather than paint a hook at all it is better to add a third hook?
  19. You could do that too. :-)
  20. It is in Cary. About 2.5 hours from Concord. Cmon down!!! :-)
