  1. I will be out on dworshak April 10-14th, curious on what I should be looking for pattern wise and certain lures to use. In the past a standard swim jig and dropshot was good but seeing if I'm missing out on using certain lures. Thanks a bunch!
  2. Fished south center in lindstrom yesterday. Only cought a few fish but two were over 4lbs and both were already healing up from the spawn. Sunfish were thick on their old beds too
  3. How has everyone been doing lately?
  4. personally i would use at least a medium heavy to a heavy with a fast tip, not an extra fast tip, 7ft + rod with almost any jigging style. thats also my style too.thats what iget my best hooksets and can pick up on bites better. - matt
  5. Eagle, What kind of set up are you using for your jigging?
  6. I'm over in siren wi area and it is the toughest opener ive had up here. Saturday water temps were between 38-42 and we cought four fish all day. Sunday was a really nice day some lakes had 50 degree water and we didn't catch a single fish! We tried three lakes and on the last one I had one on a rat-l-trap and lost it near the boat. I think this high pressure system is really hurting the fishing more than the water temps are.
  7. I'm from Minnesota and will be in Houston for a few months working and was wondering if there are any good lakes in the Houston area? Any info would be great. Thank you!
  8. Bassclub meeting just north of Stillwater Friday February14th if anyone is interested. A bunch of the oldtimers who have fished a million tournaments on Tonka and everywhere else. If anyone wants to go just message me, we are looking for more people and a bigger group for opener! Let me know! Thanks, Matt.
  9. Sounds good, thanks guys! I have a good feeling its the fuel pump now. I bought the boat from my father and he ran premium ethanol through it for a few years before I got it so I'm sure its fuel related. That ethanol is bad stuff...
  10. I have been having hole shot issues and top speed problems lately. I had my injectors cleaned and balanced by Brucato and it made a big difference, but it still isn't running like it used to. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!
  11. I run mine as deep as I possibly can in water deeper than like 4 foot . On a 20' ranger, seems like the deeper it is the more torque it has. The closer to the surface and its gone ( like when you get bogged down in weeds and whatnot and have to pull it to the surface).
  12. Personally I'm a huge fan of g Loomis and falcon rods, I have a couple shimano rods I really like. I haven't used any dukett or Powell's yet but I hear they are really good too. Nowadays it seems like if you spend $100 plus, your getting a pretty good rod.
  13. I personally don't think you would need over a 2500 size class reel while freshwater fishing. But, on some rods I will go a bit larger just for balancing the setup. Otherwise the line capacity on a 2500 is plenty.
  14. I like trilene big game #15 for spinnerbaits but I pretty much just throw a swim jig wherever I would have thrown a spinnerbait in the past years. But for the money you can't beat trilene big game in my opinion...
  15. Would anyone know if that would fit a 20' ranger Comanche? Or would it not work with the extra foot?
  16. Here's my baby! 97 ranger 487 with 200 mariner efi absolutely love this boat!
  17. Look up the difference between a high end o/u and a lower end one. For instance take a browning citori o/u and a perazzi MX-10RS. The difference is so incredible! So are the prices but. Im glad I own the perazzi! Don't get me wrong though a citori is an awesome gun, but there is no contest between the two. Its like boats, my ranger vs my 10' Jon boat, there are obvious differences/ reasons for the two. Just my opinion too.
  18. When does the season open in va? Ill be working on a retail store in Alexandria for 5 weeks and was hoping to get a line wet while out here.
  19. The rod I use for rattle traps is a 5/8 oz rod, I always throw 3/4-1 ouncers on them all the time. I found that if you go over the "limit" the reel handles everything better with heavier line but if your still using line you would for 1/2 oz lures it will most likely result in more backlashes than if you went up a few sizes. I use 17lb line for 3/4 and 20lb for 1oz.
  20. I don't use spinning gear too often but I have saharas and they are awesome in my opinion.
  21. For a frog rod I really like my skeet Reese 8' heavy rod. I have a st.Croix legend 7'6" heavy/ fast tip and I prefer the cheaper skeet Reese rod. I think I Payed $80 for it at dicks sporting goods. Never had problems with hook sets, literally non whatsoever.
  22. Revo s is what I would purchase. I have a few of them and I like them more than my shimano bantam curado, and I've always been a shimano guy but for the money the revo s is amazing!
