  1. lol sorry about that, i wasn't sure where start this thread.
  2. Hey guys, Im thinking about upgrading my Lowrance X50 ds Fish Finder/Depth Finder that came as a package with my Bass Tracker. Looking at DSI models Lowrance has to offer. Really considering the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI. Does anyone have any experience with this model? Pros/Cons? Easy to install? Do I need to buy anything extra to install it? I'm looking for some advice. Also, is the Hummingbird Models comparable with Lowrance? Hummingbird has the Side Imaging, but the price is pretty high. Thank you guys -Zildjian
  3. Thanks guys! Is there a list of IPT for reels around?
  4. Which Lews do you consider tournament or tournament pro?
  5. My plan is to take my Skeet Reese Revo off my Powell Endurance rod and put that on my shallow crank setup. And buy the Shimano Curado 201E7 and put that on that Powell Rod and use that as my frogging/Top Water setup. Also, buy the Daiwa Zillion CC Reel for my deep crank rod setup. Just wanted to make sure that Revo Skeet Reese would be ok for shallow cranking and if the Zillion CC was a good match for my deep Cranking Setup. Because if the Revo Skeet Reese wasnt good for shallow crankin I was going to buy a Lews Tournament Reel.
  6. Lol yeah! Well thanks to all you guys!
  7. Ok I'm thinking about going with the Daiwa Zillion CC 4:9.1 on my Dobyns 765 CB RM for my deep diving crank setup. Do you think this would be a good setup? If anyone has any other opinions about another reel to put on this rod, which is only going to be used strictly for deep cranking let me know! As for my Dobyns 705 CB which is going to only be used for shallow cranking, I'm thinking about either buying the Lews Tournament Speed Spool 6:4.1 Or Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spool 6:4.1 or just buy the Shimano Curado 201E7 7:1.1 to put on my Powell Endurance rod and use that as a frog/top water setup and take the Revo Skeet Reese reel I have 6:4.1 and put that on the Dobyns 705CB to use for just shallow cranking. Decisions Decisions Decisions.... Tell me what you think I should do! Thanks again everyone! -Zildjian
  8. Well here's the thing. As of right now, I have two cranking rods with no reels. I want a reel for just my shallow cranks and another for my deep divers. And the Diawa Zillion CC might be the reel for my deep diver setup. What reel does everyone like for their shallow divers?
  9. Thank you guys for all your posts! Really appricate it! So I can use the zillion on both of my cranking rods for shallow and deep runners?
  10. Ok so slower gear ratio make the cranks dive deeper. So the zillion 4:9.1 will be great for my 765CB RM Rod because I can use that setup for my cranks that dive 15-20ft. What reel do you recommend for shallow crankin like 3' - 6'?
  11. I basically want to buy two crankbait reels. One for shallow running cranks and another for deep runners.
  12. Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a reel for my crankbait rods. I have a Dobyns 705 CB and the 765 CB RM for deep running crankbaits. My question now, is I want good gear ratio crankbait reels for them. But I didn't want to buy anything without doing research first. I hear a lot about the Diawa Zillion CC (Crazy Cranker) gear ratio of 4:9.1 and the Revo Winch. Gear ratio 5:4.1 is the winch model better for the deeper diving cranks, while the slower gear ratio Zillion is more suitable for shallower running cranks? I just wanted to hear some opinions, and personal preferences of reel choices for my two rods for crankin. Thanks! -Zildjian
  13. I just picked up the 764 CB RM
  14. Thanks guys for the comments!
  15. Hey guys, I just bought a new bass boat and I wanted to start fishing crankbaits more. My 6'9" MH isn't cutting it lol I want to get a rod that i can fish mid shallow/deep water while running my crank baits. Wasn't sure if you guys prefer any specific rod company's, size and action for this type of all around cranking rod. I've been doing research and checking various forums, and I noticed most people suggest around 7'6" MH cranking rod with a slower gear ratio reel like 5:1's. Then I noticed a huge debate on Glass cranking rods vs Graphite Rods. Not sure which would be better or not. But I know lots of people were talking about the Dobyns line of cranking rods. Also, as a new boat owner, I'm so happy to actually be out on the lake and start to fish for real, but once I get out there I have no idea what I'm doing. I've been just trolling the shorelines, but the water is so deep. Everywhere is like 15-20ft so spots are really shallow. But I'm having a hard time finding fish properly and I'm not sure what to throw and where. I know crankbaits are great lures and especially around this season (summer) but I never throw them while shoreline fishing. But now I'm on the water and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm fishing lots of visual cover too, but everywhere is so deep. Any help would be awesome! Thank you guys! -Zildjian
  16. That's awesome. Sucks the rod broke though! Thanks for the comment!
  17. Hey guys, I'm looking into buying one of these Baitcasting rods. I do mostly jigging and Bigger Worm fishing, and wanted to know which rods you guys recommend. These rods are highly recommend and I wanted to give one a try. They have these series of rods for Baitcasting. Savvy Champion Extreme Champion Thanks, -Zildjian
  18. awesome man! thanks for the tips! love bill dance show by the way!
  19. lol whats the deal with hybrid line? whats the difference from that and fluoro, braid mono?
  20. Thanks for all the help guys! I'm going to buy a couple different ones and try them all for my self to see what I like best. Thanks again
  21. What do you guys look for when trying new fluorocarbon line? I keep reading the The Trilene 100%, Sunline Super FC Sniper, Bass Pro Shops XPS, and the Seaguar lines are the top lines everyone keeps bringing up in the forums. What makes any one of these lines better over eachother? I'm mostly jig and heavy worm fishing.
  22. Thanks guys for the comments! i'm currently looking at these lines of Fluoro... not sure which to choose yet. any help narrowing it down? 1.Berkley Trilene 100% Fluoro 2.BPS 3.Seaguar Red Lable 4.Seaguar Abraz X 5.Seaguar Invis X 6.Sunline FC Sniper
  23. Hey guys, I'm thinking about making the switch over from Mono to Fluro. I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. I've never fished fluro line, but heard great things. Right now I'm currently fishing 6'9" MH Duckett with Shimano Curado 201G with Berkley Trilene XL Smooth Casting Mono line in 14lb test in Green. I do mostly Jig and worm fishing. Not sure about the pros and cons of fluro over mono and vise versa. But if I do switch over what is a good brand of fluro to use? And Is the diameter the same as mono and also in lbs for line test? What about color of line? I didnt want to buy any random fluro line you see at Dicks or Walmart. What do you guys recommend? Especially for jigging? Thanks in advance!
  24. Had a great time fishing that north star jig!!! Can't wait to go back! All I have in my box of jigs is all North Star. They are a huge hit everywhere I go fishing people are always asking me where to buy them. So I send them your way.. Thanks again!
