  1. Thank You!! That's exactly what I wanted to hear before I made a purchase. Thank you! Last question lol Do you recommend just mounting the power pole to the back of the transom or buying the jackplate and having it installed? I feel weird having something between my transom and motor. But I guess they do it for a reason.. What's your take on this?
  2. Ohhh, so any power pole will fit my tracker, no matter which model I choose. Glenn, if I go with the 8ft Pro Series 2 model, is there anything else that I need to get this thing up and running out of the box? I'm going to buy the jackplate for it, and I guess I'll have my local marine shop install it for me. But I just wanted to make sure I don't need anything else. Especially another battery, because I can't fit a third in my compartment. Also, do you recommend any model or size? Or have any pros and cons I should know about on size or model before I make my purchase? I'm going to call them, and see which jackplate they recommend for 2010 Merc 90HP Optimax for Starboard Side. Thanks again Glenn!
  3. Ok I'm finally cracking down and buying a powerpole. Now I was reading a thread about the power pole being added to someone's boat, but they couldn't get the one they originally wanted because it was to big for the bass boat. How do you know if a model is to big to fit your bass boat? My boat is 18'7". Does that mean I can't put a 8ft power pole on it? Or a 10ft? It's between the sportsman 2 model in 8ft or Pro Series model in 6ft or 8ft. Plus i need to buy the jackplate for it. How do you know if a model is too big for your boat? The height or weight vs your boat? Any ideas??

  7. Yeah I think I might do the 7'6" MH, are the new micro magic guide rods out yet with the stronger guides? I seen an icast video from 2011 from Boyd's Booth talking about this years new upgrade to the micro magic series. Talks about how he was listening to the pros and wanted to make the guides of the micro magic rods stronger compared to his first run of the micro guide series. When you buy the rod now, especially online, how can you tell if the rod is the old series or new? And what to look for?
  8. Ok awesome, so the 7'3" MH can def handle a 3/4oz spinnerbait with no problem? Just want to make sure before I buy the rod. Because my 3/4oz spinnerbaits were fighting my rod pretty hard on my 6'9" MH. Will 6" more really do that much better? Thanks!
  9. Looking for some advice for which Duckett Micro Magic Rod for throwing 3/4oz Spinnerbaits. My 6'9" Medium Heavy Duckett doesn't handle it too well. Do I still stay in the Medium/heavy range and just go bigger with rod length? Or do I up it to a Heavy Action? I was looking at the 7'3" M/H and the 7'6" Heavy. Which one is more suitable for the 3/4oz spinnerbaits? Thank you guys!
  10. this 1lber hit my spinnerbait... biggest one i've ever caught

  15. i see i see. goes from $1,000 and some change for the 798 si to $1,499 for the 898 si. for $500 extra is all you get is 2" bigger screen? is there anything different from those two units thats worth the added $500? an for mounting and running all the wires, is it easy to do yourself, or have a professional do it? i have a cheap fish finder on right now, that actually came with my boat, but i only use it for water depth and temp. i really want to upgrade to a DI or SI unit that i can actually see structure and fish! but not sure if its worth the money... i really want to stay under $1,000. but having a hard time narrowing the best units down for the money. for mounting the transducer, what happen with yours? you said if you mount it improperly you will get false readings or not true readings. how do you know when its set correctly? thanks!
  16. thanks guys for the comments. i didn't realize the SI unit had DI too. the screen is too small huh? what other unit would you consider in the humminbird series?
  17. I'm thinking about buying this unit. Does anyone have any experience with this unit? If so i'd love to read your pros or cons for it. Is it easy to setup? Is this worth the money? I'm still undecided on the whole DI vs SI. Thank you! -Zildjian
  18. Great points! Thank you guys!!!
  19. Hey Guys, I just bought a couple marker buoys from *** to try out for the first time. I've been watching a lot of bass tournaments on tv lately and notice when fishing offshore structure they cast to their marker buoys. So I wanted to pick some up and use them on my home lake. I just wanted to see if anyone had any tips for me as of Do's and Don'ts while marking spots and fishing them. Thanks, -Zildjian
