Lure Confidence...
North Star Jig and Paca Chunk Trialer.... weather condition: Cloudy and raining on and off water condition: clear water about 1ft deep went fishing today with my buddie to a new lake with clear water and sand bottom with lots of vegetation. fished after work for 3 hrs with crankbaits, spinner baits, worms, frogs, and poppers. and nothing... so i switched to one of my new jigs i ordered from North Star that i had never thrown. it's the Flip and Swim Jig in Pumpkinseed color and 3/8oz. and for the trailer i put a NetBait Paca Chunk in Craw Fish Color. The weather was so crapy out! cloudy and gray with off and on rain showers. and on my first cast... felt Tap Tap and i set the hook and this bass had that whole jig in her mouth! she was 2lbs even on my field and stream spring scale. and in the next couple of casts this 1lb 4oz Bass hit next... small but still fun! and after about 9 more casts i went with a fast retrieve and hops and another bass slammed it! i was reeling her in and she surfaced twice! looked no smaller than 2lbs. the head was huge! but on the 2nd time she came out of the water she through my jig! i was so mad! worst feeling... sucks when you physicaly watch it happen right in front of you. so i fished all day and nothing, and i change to my jig and hook up 3 bass within 30mins. so much fun! Thank You North Star Baits! -Zildjian

Color Lure For Clear Water?
Thanks for the help! I have so many crank baits but I never throw them, because I never knew where, when and what color for what condition. Plus had zero confidence. But I want to learn now, because I actually caught one on a crank! What's everyone's favorite shallow diving crank and color? Also what's the deal with lipless cranks? I have a bunch red eye KVDs and others, but again never knew when and where to fish them. Open water? Everytime I tried to fish them off the banks here they just pick up grass and stuff on the trebels. I never fish anything other than worms, and now jigs. I want to expand and catch fish on other lures other than my go to lures. Thanks again to everyone for all your help!!!

Color Lure For Clear Water?
hey guys, my buddy took me to a new lake today, and this lake had sand bottom and crystal clear water. i never seen anything like it before. he said it was a lake back in the day that when they use to dig they hit a natural spring water? im not sure what its called but its awesome. this lake had some really deep spots and it starts to get deep about 7' from the sandy shoreline and the deep areas also have great green vegetation underwater. so i wasn;t sure what to throw her at this lake with all sand bottom and with such clear water like this, so instead of throwing my go to worms, and jigs id figure here... a bright crank bait, spinner bait, or jerkbait would shine. so i throw this shallow diving squarebill. kvd? and i caught my first bass on a crankbait on the 2nd cast!!! small only 1lb 80z largemouth but still fun! my question i have is what lure should you throw in clear water and more importantly what color? i just took a guess with bright and it worked. well only for that bass, because i didn't catch another after that. i throw the crank bait from the shoreline into the deep and retrieved it back into the shallow, and he hit it mid crank in the deep. catching a bass on a new type of lure just opened a new door to lures for me lol but im still not sure what i did was correct or just a fluke catch because this lure is so far out from looking natural and it still caught me this bass. any help would be great! Thanks guys! -Zildjian

Overruns On Baitcaster
hey guys, ive been using my baitcasting reels since the beginning of the season and love them! i don't get birdsnests or big backlashes. but i get these tiny little overruns on my spool while casting. like loose loops. just enough to annoy me after each cast to put into free spool and pullout the line until the loops are gone. i mean i know how to set each lure weight for my tension knob and i have my breaks set the way i like them. but i just don't get why i have these tiny loose loops around my spool more times than not when i cast. is it just my breaks? do i need to ride my thumb over the spool with a little bit more feathering? please let me know what you guys think to help me out. again its not a birdsnest or big backlash just on some casts i more likly than not get these tiny overruns where its only one or two spool turns that i have to pull out to make my line on my spool even again. thanks, -zildjian

Chatterbaits And Trailers
Hey guys, Want to start to learn to throw chatterbaits. I'm just not sure how to fish them? Like a jig? Spinnerbait? Slow retrieve with twitches? I have a 6'9" MH Duckett with Shianno Curado and 14lb mono. What size should I throw? 3/8oz? Thanks

Spot Fishing
I couldn't believe how hard it was for them to hit it. And they are big bass! I just walked the banks, and I found 3 beds each with one big bass on them. Everytime I walked over to one, the bass would swim off, then make a turn back and just stare at the bed. And when I would throw my trick worm or jig and walk on the bed or right in front of the bass's mouth it still wouldn't hit it. I was getting so frustrated. I couldn't believe that I couldn't land any of them. Very shocked.

Spot Fishing
Hey guys, My buddy took me to his local lake today in jersey and there was so much hydrillia from the banks going out into the lake. It was like un fishable. I couldn't throw not one lure without have globs of grass, but the water was crystal clear!! And you can see bass everywhere up in the shallows of the banks. You can see big bass sitting on beds. And everytime I try to spot fish them, they didn't hit nothing. Why is that? I through all sizes and color worms and jigs. And even frogs. And they were not interested at all. What's your guys thoughts spot fishing and what works? Thanks Zildjian

Magnum Shakey Head
I have the zoom's magnum shaky head worm, but haven't thrown it yet, because I do very well with the zoom's magnum trick worm. Also when I first started out I threw the original Shaky head worm and trick worm and get lots of bass of all sizes. I just rig the orignal size worms with Gamagatzu EWG Offset Shank Worm Hook in 2/0 Red or black and for the magnum worms 3/0. Usually in Green Punpkin Worms with Red hooks works best for me. -zildjian

Lure Confidence...
i finally listened to your guys! no more just fishing worms.. i put them away and just fished my jigs. well today was a very cloudy, rained all last night and some today also water condition was stained to dark today. so i looked up whats the best color, and i read black, or black and blue is very good for these conditions. so last night i rigged up my Strike King's hack attack 3/8oz black and blue jig with Yum's Craw Papi green pumpkin/blue specs. and it worked! i couldn't believe it! i just fished it all day and after about 30 casts i felt a nice SMACK! and i just set the hook without even thinking about what it was or could be. and bam this 1lb 15oz Bass surfaced. then after about 30mins later this pig hit me! 3lbs 5oz! just wanted to post and thank you guys for helping me get away from using just one lure!!! Thanks! -Zildjian
