  1. I use the 7'6 MH F Veritas for my frog fishing. It works awesome and I fish some pretty nasty slop. I put a Pro Max on mine.
  2. I just stopped at bass pro to pick up a few things during the classic and the reel trade in, and came across this bag and ended up buying it. Its grey, black, and lime green. For $60 I think it is an awesome deal and I just wanted to give everyone a heads up because I did not see it in the add. It comes with 3 3750 boxes, 2 3705 boxes, a speed bag, and a 3601 box. It has room for another box on the inside, theres extra pockets and built in handles too. Plus a sturdy hard bottom for mor rigidity and it makes the bottom waterproof. Just thought everyone should know incase you need a new bag plus some storage boxes too. Christian
  3. I have always used left handed reels. Its more comfortable for me even though im right handed. I would rather reel left handed than have to switch hands every time I cast or cast left handed.
  4. My frog see up is a Abu Garcia Veritas 7'6 MH F with an Abu Garcia Pro Max Reel. 7.1:1 Ratio. I frogged a ton last season and it both worked and help up very well. With discounts at the time I got the combo within your budget.
  5. If that name is stamped on it you cant go wrong.
  6. Way more time than I should be, In the morning, between classes, at lunch, after school, before practice, after practice, and before bed. So a lot basically Lol. I love it though.
  7. I bought a Cabelas brand backpack that I have been using for the past few years, I can fit 5 360 boxes in the bottom, load up with plastics, tools, reels, food, basically anything Ion the top, sunglasses case built it, an insulated spot for my water bottle, and a few extra pockets for storage of line, more plastics, band aids, whatever you need. There is even a built in rod holder for when you are walking. I love it. And if you really want to fit some 370 size boxes you can unzip the inside and make it one big space to accommodate this boxes. For $60 I love it. They dont make mine anymore, well they do its just an updated version that differs a little in design and what not. It still looks great for the price though. 8. If I was only worrying about the reel ratios I think that's what I would do too. But ergonomically I think setting it up the other way will be more comfortable.
  9. On the way to the ramp in the morning I always stop at Tim Hortons, then I have a cooler with Powerade or Gatorade, Power Bars, a bag of chips, and if im staying out for a long time I will make sandwiches.
  10. The Revo is 6.3 or 6.4 and the T3 is 7.1:1. Thanks for all the Input guys.
  11. I just got in two new rods, a 7'2 MH XF Shimano Crucial, and a 7'3 M F *** Black. For reels I have a Gen 2 Revo SX and a Diawa T3 Ballistic. So far im thinking the Revo on the shimano because its a little heavier, so it may balance a little better. I plan on using the Shimano for jigs, but Im thinking I could throw flukes and other soft plastics on the ***? I figured the smaller profile and lightness of the T3 would work better with the ***, and may cast the lighter baits better. Any input is apreciated, what would you pick?
  12. My last Shimano Spinning reel I bought was a Sahara, and I love it, run into BPS and play around with some of the stuff we have mentioned and see what you like. In the end it is what you like the most and feel most confident in. Let us know what you end up with! Christian
  13. No personal experience with Carbonlight rods from me, but ive owned multiple BPS rods, and have only heard awesome things about the Carbonlight. As for reels I love Shimano spinning reels, but more so in the $80+ range, for $60 I dont think the president has any competition. I love that reel also, I own both brands, but for $60 I dont know if you can beat it unless you find a reel on sale or used.
  14. Oh right, size wise, I like a 2500 size reel, and a 6'6-7' MF rod for general purpose spinning gear.
  15. If you want to go the Bps route, the Carbonlight is a great rod for the money, and will be even better for your money if you get an employee discounts. I havent used any of their spinning reels, but if you put a pflueger president o it, which is a great bang for your buck reel, you will have an awesome set up and still have money for a little line and tackle. Best of luck! Christian
  16. That is a mono rating not a braid rating, #20 braid will be fine, no worries.
  17. Great questions,You will get better casting distance and performance of you fill the spool up to about 1/8 of an inch from the brim. So that is up to you. When it comes to the rod, look at the lure ratings and what lures you plan on throwing. I own a St. Croix, and you will hear from many, like me, that they tend to be a tad over rated. So a medium may work for you in the St. Croix line. Make sure to double check if St. Croix offers the 7' 2 piece MH rod you want, they may not, or the retailed your looking at doesn't carry it. Christian
  18. When we fish for pike and musky, we call them "toothy's." I dont know if its just a northern thing but thats what we call 'em.
  19. I double the suggestion on the 2500 size reel, I dont think you'll need a ton of line capacity. If it makes you more comfortable jump up to #30 braid, with a 12-17 pound leader. Great choice on the rod, depending on how you fish you could bump up to 7' to cast a little further, but rod length is more personal preference than anything.
  20. We have some amazing fishing here in Michigan, I think its a little under rated. Lake St. Clair is one of the best Smallmouth lakes ever, you can fish the channels and rivers, or the lake itself. There are some great Smallmouth guides, and musky too. Theres a plethora of smallmouth, largemouth, silver bass, and many other fish species too. I highly recommend it. Theres also great swimming spots when you want to take a break, areas to shop, and local tackle shops. If you come up here just let me know and il point you the right direction! Traverse City is a great place too, I love it there. As is grand haven on the west side of the state, and little towns like Lincoln and Alpena in the north east. Plenty of options! Christian
  21. Every time, "FISH ON!" And at the end of the day, "One more cast, ok wait maybe just one more."
  22. A great rod in your price range, especially for that technique is a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth. Pair that with something like a Shimano Sahara and you have a great set up.
  23. Thanks guys, I'm sure I could always use my 7'6 v eritas for jigs too. Right now its my frog rod.
  24. I asked because I was offered a 6'9 MH Zillion for 140 in the flea market.
