Small Profile Bass Plastics
I was just able to take a trip to bass pro friday and picked up some of the new Strike King Dream Shots. Action on them is amazing. Smallies on the river really liked them.

Line Conditioner:worth It Or A Gimmick ?
Read the bottle of reel magic again...you misread that fluorocarbon. Thing.

St. Croix Rod Bargain -- Steel Steel Steel!!
The recoils are very nice and reduce weight on the rod. I prefer them but I also use fluorocarbon on my extreme casting rods so there is no noise. Only use braid in my 69mlxf spinning. I have not used or held the 2013 extreme and don't plan to because I like cork personally. There is a performance difference between the ltb and extreme but that's due to the blank. There are a few ltb I use over extremes due to the length and tapper offered in ltb. Both are very fine lines of rods. lines like suffix performance braid sound like q chainsaw in recoils. Use 832 or super 8 if you go braid.

St. Croix Rod Bargain -- Steel Steel Steel!!
I use 6/2 832 and 10/2 super 8 on my extreme spinning rod and there's no noise at all. Larger braids tend to make more noise in the 40#+

Flouro Problems
There really isnt a fix for that issue unless you go up in price a ways which isnt for everyone. Those kinks in fluoro will just happen and its something you will just get better at by knowing when to pick out certain areas. I use red label for shallow cranks and had the same issues except i casted the kink out and and off went the bait. Line conditioner will help a little with kinks but not the end all for it. Getting more proficient with your brakes will help more than anything.

St. Croix Rod Bargain -- Steel Steel Steel!!
It would do fine. I use the 69mlxf xtreme for 1-16 to 3/16 shakey heads and it performs flawlessly

Best Line For Baitcasters
After I attach the fluoro to the backing i usually crank in some line, spray, let it fill up about an 1/8 or an inch or so, spray a little more, repeat. If you sprayed every few handle cranks you would probably be out of conditioner after one reel. It isn't critical to do it while spooling but it's something I'm just accustomed to doing. If you don't do it while spooling, just go somewhere and make a super long cast, let the line out a little, spray it down and reel in and spray when it gets back to you and you should be set.

Best Line For Baitcasters
it's not a "true" fluorocarbon. it's a copoly/hybrid. if you are looking for all 3 of the characteristics you mentioned bundled together in one line then you will be paying a nice price tag for it. Fluorocarbon is definitely a line you get what you pay for. (I've never used BPS fluoro so I can't comment on that but i think it's inexpensive and works)Tatsu is probably the "best" fluorocarbon but isn't needed at all. it does fish like a dream but cheaper fluorocarbons suffice. finding an inexpensive fluorocarbon that has great knot strength, low memory and great performance will be a little tough but it depends on your price range. i've use tatsu but only because I won a spool of it and if it weren't for the 40-50$ price tag it'd use it all the time. Seaguar InvizX is a very nice line but has a lot more stretch than I prefer. Red Label has much less stretch and manages very easily. It isn't very abrasion resistant though. Knot stretch is something that more times than not is user error. Sunlines fluorocarbons are my favorite and the price tag isn't the worst. There are some extremely awful lines out there but for the most part as long as you stay away from Vanish and strens fluorocast or w/e it is called you should be fine. If you are new to fluorocarbon then please make sure to buy either Reel Magic or KVD line and lure and spray it on while spooling and before you go fishing and occasionally during the day depending on the line. you will save your self a lot of headaches. If you are using one rod/reel then get some yo-zuri hybrid.

St. Croix Rod Bargain -- Steel Steel Steel!!
WOW! thanks for pointing out the new rods in there. How aren't those prices great? they are all over 100+$ off last years model...I wonder how long their 7' M/F and MH/F xtremes will be in stock in their bargain area. I love that rod and am tempted to get another for the price of a legend tournament.

your video on TW is what got me thinking more about head designs.

Secret Lures Shaky Head
i personally just don't like the ball head for the amount of rock i fish. it sure does work but it's just a personal preference of mine to have a football(ish) head

Secret Lures Shaky Head
wow...didn't think they made ones with a hook like that. Are these available at bass pro/cabelas at all? I'd be more than willing to try these asap. do these come in 1/8 and 3/16? how thick is that hook in comparison to say the pumpkin ed? i may have just found the perfect shaky head if true.

Line For Baitcaster And Distance
this is good advice too. ease your way into making longer casts.

Line For Baitcaster And Distance
use a line conditioner on the CXX. I used it minimally on the line when i used it and it behaved very well. the problem most likely isn't your line. as said before, i used that line/rod for a while and was able to cast it easily a long ways with that same rod and kvd 1.0 cranks (1/4oz) w/o backlashes or overruns. you're experience with memory and CXX is normal. it can get a lot of memory but just spray some line conditioner on it prior to going out or the night before and you will be fine. your reel might needs it's bearings cleaned and you may just have to adjust the settings differently. speed spools can cast a long ways if adjusted correctly. Braid /w a leader will be easier to use if you are having trouble with CXX but just a word of warning the guides on the mojo (this is based on a personal experience) were awful for me. i had 5 guide inserts fall out an the top guide groove over a year or use. other than the guides, the rod was a fine shallow crank rod. had the guides not fell out, i'd probably still be using it instead of my legend tourney cranking rod.

New Shakeyhead Setup Recommendations
i wasn't aware the smoke weighed that much. i thought it was on the patriarch/ci4 scale. my mistake. the 25 smoke should be fine. Some st. croixs are tip heavy (namely their lower end split grips but that's really the same with a lot of companies) once you move up in the series the tip heaviness isn't as drastic but it's still there a little bit but is very easy to counter/balance. again, most are though.

New Shakeyhead Setup Recommendations
I used thst rod a couple yeats ago for vertical jigging walleye. Wasnt a bad rod st all. It seemed to shine in the 1/4-5/16 range for sensitivity. Good backbone. I would use either a larger reel than a 25 size or use some sort of chaircap withlead on the butt of the rod to balance it. Its a little tip heavy. And the smoke is very lightweight. 1000 stradic would balance much better.

Favorite Shakey Head
I am a fan of the jeff kriet shaky head. The hook is light but you hardly miss fish with it. Unless i like secret lures head i ordered these are my favorite. I shaky head fieh a lot and have used a lot of different heads and hooks. SK pro heads arent bad. Hate spot locks. I really like the akward football head kriets shaky head has and the hook is very nice.

Swimbait In Ponds
This is great advice when pond fishing.

Rip Rap Early In The Morning
The pools i fish have lots of rip rap amd almost always produce fish in one way oranother. Shallow cranks and jigs/shaky heads are a go to around me.

Line For Baitcaster And Distance
The lews are great reels. Mag breaks are something that takes a bit more adjudting to.

Secret Lures Shaky Head
Thanks but as i said id prefer an ewg hook.

Line For Baitcaster And Distance
try adjusting your breaks differently. i had that rod years ago and was able to launch baits a country mile with that same line.

Secret Lures Shaky Head
I doo too but the smallest they come /n is 3/16 now and the hook is a bit heavy.
