Yum Crawbug
jjs majic or spike it work to color the tips of the claws. generally chart. color. Those little crawbugs are small mouth killers...if you can find them. I have a hard time finding them in stores. I much prefer the older yum crawbug green pumpkin color over the new one. I believe (not 100%) the new one is more of a watermelon/green pumpkin. the older one was more along the lines of rage craws green pumpkin. Big bite baits makes a craw that is basically identical to the larger version of the Yum crawbug but with an extra few inches on the top of the bait that can just be cut off. I use to fish these on tube jigs for the smaller ones but have found that the larger ones produce better in my area. I've found these produce better in rocks than anything else so losing tube jigs got old quick. I thread the line through the tail and use a 1/8 oz weight(usually tungsten due to the smaller profile) and then snell knot a 1/0 EWG hook to the end. Pull the craw back over the weight and hook and just t-rig the hook through the very tip of the nose and you hardly get hung up in rocks. Hooks ups are really easy. With the larger ones you can add rattles in them too with the rig I just described if needed.

Jigging Lines
Heavy would be more suitable for you then.
-
Jigging Lines
Heavy rating varies from company to company but unless uou are using the rod for thick stuff then most rod manufactures MH rod will do just great.

Jigging Lines
What works best for me may not work for you. Trial amd error is the only way you will find out. Personally i like 12-15lb fluoro /w a 7:x reel.

Stradic Fj
i just bought the 1000fj. I was a little hesitant at first using it but after a couple drops of oil in the oil port the reel works flawlessly and it so incredibly smooth. Great great reel. It seems there's a little bit of a break in period with the reel. I think mine was one trip.

How Do You Keep Your Hands Warm?
Somebody offered me this little gem last year on the river walleye fishing. wearing them under gloves helps keep hands warm ten fold.

California Swim Jig Alternatives!
B-fish-n tackle pulse-r is a good swimming jig trailer. Can work it incredibly slow and the tail moves a lot.

New Shimano Cumara You Say?
I saw these probably the same place you did but I like the color. I'm curious about the lengths in M power but they have my attention enough that I am thinking about getting one.

Strike King River Bugs
I hate you. I cant find these anywhere anymore. Good find. Great bait.

St Croix Legend Xtreme
very comparable. the GLX balances better than the older xtremes but the newer ones would be on par with the GLX. GLX does offer more in the length department.

St Croix Legend Xtreme
I've used quite a few of their rods in both spinning and casting. The "older" (last years model) were a bit tip heavy. Not as bad as some of the legend tournaments but still just a little. I was able to play with the new Xtremes (the one with the new black grip) in cabelas last weekend in 7mf spinning and 7'MHF casting and both of the rods balance A LOT better than the older ones. I was a bit apprehensive about the new style at first but I think these rods were definitely built with a less tip heavy feel. The grip was very comfortable as well. Felt nothing like the rage series.

Tungsten Weight Questions
I personally use tungsten and find it works a lot better than standard lead. However, if i had genes specific weight id use it over tungsten (i think) because it looks skinny and narrow. It wouldnt hurt to use it ovrr lead fishing your grass areas. I use it every time i fish any grass. As for using tungsten being the equivalent of a rod upgrade (avid to legend), i dont have any avids to compare to any of my legends but i think that would saying an avid with tungsten is equivilant to a legend with lead is a bit of a stretch.

Berkley Shaky Worms
those worms are some excellent flick shake/shaky head worms.

Tungsten Weight Questions
x2. and definitely agree with 5. You do "feel" the "clank" of the bottom contour a little better but using tungsten vs a led weight isn't going to increase sensitivity a dramatic amount that you will want to use it over lead all the time. The biggest benefit of using these weights, personally, is using them to punch grass as the weight is such a reduced size and it comes through grass so much easier.

Suspending Rapala Help

Line To Deal With Zebra Mussels
Pline cxx didnt give me any issues as long as it was trested with a conditioner. The stuff does have a lot of memory and would be flat out awful without line and lure.

St.croix Mojo Bass Spinning Rod? What Are Your Thoughts?
And here I was buying lengths and actions that I prefer and work the best for me when the premiere "will do ". I don't understand was I thinking.....

Line To Deal With Zebra Mussels
Auto correct is stupid. Tarsus is tatsu.
-
Line To Deal With Zebra Mussels
I fish the Mississippi so zebra muscles are everywhere. Tarsus is good for jigs. I don't use cxx anymore but it was easily the most abrasion resistant for everything. The drought has helped with the infestation so I'm using red label for cranks. I won the tarsus so I'm using it for jigs and trite with no breakoffs yet. Not sure what I'm going to use after it runs out. Stuff is pricey

Do Oils/chemicals From Your Hands Affect Baits While Pitching?
While I haven't done any scientific research on the matter, I do the same thing Sam does. I always hold the bait above the head or on the head. I'm not sure if it matters much but I've read a lot of people saying that chemicals on your hand can deter a bass from biting so I just always try to avoid over handling a plastic and it seems to work.

St.croix Mojo Bass Spinning Rod? What Are Your Thoughts?
a few years ago i had the 7' MHM. I would still be using it as my shallow crank rod instead of my legend but i had 5 guide inserts fall out within a week. Ran 10-12# fluoro on it. Aside from that I actually liked the rod quite a bit.

Explain Tip Heavy
While you guys are correct that the added weight of a lure does counter the balance point that isnt what people mean when they refer to a rod being tip heavy. Tip heavy is when the rod and reel combo are being held on its own without a lure at the point you grip the fishing reel/rod during a retrieve/deadstick/w/e. If the rod tip has a feeling that is is almost being forced down or it feels like there is a lot of weight at the tip, that is a tip heavy rod. A non tip heavy rod is obviously more comfortable to fish with but it isnt necessary.

Rod Or Reel, Where Should You Put Your Money?
I also dont know why people spend hundreds of dollars on reels and spend a fraction of that on rods.
