  1. Haha god that picture is funny. Love the face there.
  2. If you are on that budget, i would get the elite tech small mouth 69m and a size 25 pflueger or 1000 shimano. Should keep you under 200 and you will love the rod based on reviews people on here rave about them.
  3. I cant comment on his prior posts ww2farmer but im pretty sure he was just womdering because he got this rod for 8$.....
  4. i was going to give you the same advice on what to throw on your limited arsenal. 12-15lb fluoro or copoly would suit you fine on the st. croix. the abu set up i would put 30-50 lb braid on it and use it for jigs/plastics/spinner baits. haven't used an ugly stick on ages so i don't know what to tell you there.
  5. on my UL trout rod, i use 4lb stren magnathin. line is super strong and very manageable. crestliners lure suggestions are spot on for small stream smallies. you by all means can use braid fishing with your UL but i would most definitely drop down to a much smaller braid in around the 4/1# test. you could try nanofil. i toyed with it on my an UL small stream set up for spinners but preferred mono after using it. i personally get more enjoyment fishing mono on UL.
  6. Definitely give zoom a try. I love wacky rigging them on a drop shot. I,personally, dont like gulp. The smell is awful and it just doesnt seem to outfish trick worms or flukes in the rivers i frequent.
  7. I would argue there would be quite the difference in the fishability of a 68mxf vs a 65mxf missing 3 inches but if it works for you more power to ya. Good luck with it.
  8. Sorry i forgot to type something that would have made my post make sense. You may have to pay the 10% per year depreciation value since that is the old style of the legend tournament. I liked the old reel seats (not as much as the new extreme ones). Changing a grip is extremely easy you could do it yourself. Unless you dont like legends old foregrip.
  9. I could be wrong but i think trimming down a st. Croix and adding a tip voids the warranty. Also trading up a rod that isnt yours (or a broken one you bought) will cost you the difference of the rod (the 160 something) and 75$ for the gold star program and 20$ shipping. Hope it works for you. I would not have had the balls to do that.
  10. Ive tried the braid/leader and just didnt like it on casting set ups. I use straight fluoro for most things and braid for the rest. I do use a fluoro leader drop shotting and shakey head fishing though.
  11. I use booyah pad crashers (on sale at dicks 2 for 9$ right now) spro bronzeeyes and a few live targets in a certain color. Been meaning to try kvd sexy frogs but havent found a need to yet.
  12. I use to use the palomar knot. I've since switched to the san diego jam and have yet to have a break off.
  13. Dinger just for price. Our walmart has a decent color selection and are only 3$ for 5"
  14. Been using them in blk/blue and green pmpkn on my homemade jika rigs. Works very well near weedlines and in cover so far.
  15. When i was looking for an ultra light a while ago i picked one up in the store a put it back down in 10 seconds of handling it. Rod was too heavy and felt like a thick wet noodle with no backbone. It may be OKAY for very small trout/panfish but didnt feel like it could do anything great. I picked up the 6'6 ultra lite in these. Love this rod to death. Super sensitive and has handled a few 4lb browns so far. http://www.norsemenoutdoors.com/shop/category/esp-rods
  16. You dont need to but theres something about being out really early when its quoet and nothing going on makes getting their before dawn worth it.
  17. Those are 3d renders of the rods. Not actual pictures. Looks like a legend xtreme blank with a new eva foam grip and the legend tpurnament reel seat. No thanks. Ill stick with my cork xtremes.
  18. The powell max/endurance rods would be worth a look. They are only 30-40$ more than the lamiglass and (personally) are a much better balanced/sensitive rod. Never liked the veritas. Seem too stiff but to each their own.
  19. Well he said he read reviews about UL setups where people had snapped them or they had broke in im assuming the price range he was looking at. I thought i was clear on saying "you get what you pay for in low end ul". Guess i wasn't. My mistake. Recommending an ugly stick lite (might be what they are called) for ugly sticks durability i guess was off topic.... To be i guess a little more clear, if you are looking for something durable and cheap in that 30$ range for a set up try the ugly stick lite from walmart. You may have to replace the reel on it after time as its not going to have the longevity as the rod with an abundence of plastic parts.
  20. Well for 30$ you really get what you pay for. The quality wont be there if thats what you are wondering about. You could probably get an ugly stick lite or w/e they are called for around that price. May last a while too being an ugly stick.
  21. I like the spiderwire bag for a co angler. Fits 4 large size boxes and then a med size in the next pocket. Lots of extra storage in the "lid" that folds up amd tue back/sides.
  22. I was under the impression we were talking about xship..not the intricacies of each reel.
  23. Well it kind of did but was given to the sustain. The rarenium and the sustain are the same pricepoint.
