I Love Working At Gander Mtn
I hate gander mountain. I went in to one in to pick up a stradic fi1000 and they only jad the display. Looked it over and there wasnt anything wrong. Told the kid ill take it amd he turned around and said im sorry we dont have a box for it so i cant sell it. We can notify you if we get more in. I told him its discountinued and the new model was right next to it. He got his manager and he told me the same thing. I was astonished to say the least. I just laughed and said okay...havent been in to one since.

The CI4 has already been updated in 2012 with xship. Ci4 rarenium. The old rarenium does not have it.

High End Spinning Reels
i don't use spinning reels often this time of year but i use them 95% of the time for walleye during the spring/fall so i'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to using them as i want them to feel perfectly balanced with my rod for pitching light jigs. use to have a stradic ci4 1000 on a legend extreme 69mlxf and i really wanted to like the reel but it just didn't feel smooth enough. toyed with a few new stradic FJ' 1000's. same thing. they are "smooth" by all means but not effortless smooth. found the plflueger patriarch 9530 and fell in love. the pinion gear on the reel is a thing of beauty and it's extremely smooth, very light weight (6.3oz for a little bigger than a 1000 stradic but smaller than a 2500) and the drag is great. that would get my vote until you go up to the Shimano Sustain +. Then those would be my choice. if you are staying in the 200$ ballpark you really won't be disappointed in the patriarch of the ci4/fj. don't go with the XT. it's a nice reel but for 50$ more the patriarch would be a much better choice. these are retail prices. i'm sure you can find them cheaper on amazon or ebay.

Anyone Use The Pfluegar Supreme Xt Spinning Reel?
just traded in a stradic ci-4 1000 for the new patriarch mg 9530. it is the smoothest (spinning reel) i've ever used. hope you find a good one. this is the first pfleuger i've owned(all reels are shimano) and it's a winner.

Best Small Pond Bait
Casting a drop shot near weeds, small 1/4 red eye shads and swim jigs would be worth a shot.

Anyone Ever Wacky Rig A Finesse Worm?
I do it a lot casting a drop shot with good success. Favorite bait is the zoom finesse worm.

"most Durable" Craw Plastic?
z-mans seem to be very durable to me but aren't readily available to me all the time so i use the papa chunk a lot. the papa chunk seems to always lose a pincher or two every couple fish with can be discouraging because they are very productive but cheap.

Retireing Rod...help Me Pick A New One
69mlxf legend extreme with stradic 1000 ci4. Most sensitive combo i know and a dream for me to fish with. If you dont want to break the bank, look at these rods below in a link i will post. I bought the 6'6 ul strictly for small stream trout in NE iowa. Tennessee grip feels great with a 1000 shimano and light as a feather. Ive had 4.5lb browns with this rod amd it was a blast. SUPER sensitive with the handle technology they use. http://www.norsemenoutdoors.com/shop/category/esp-rods

Knots
For braid i use a palomar but for fluoro/mono i 100% of the time use a san diego jam.

Spinnerbait Love
I must say fishing spinnerbaits doesnt consume much of my fishing time anymore but if there is a hot spinnerbaot bite its hard to put it down. Always have the spinnerbait rig as a reminder because it can be darn fun throwing in tight quarters.

Big Bite Bait's Wacky Sticks
- Strictly Spinning Reel Users
You can definitely do about anything but as a personal preference most using baitcasters is much more enjoyable to me.- Strictly Spinning Reel Users
There are times of the year ( spring/fall) where im strictly walleye fishing and use spinning rods 99% of the time. Aside from that i use baitcasting gear the rest of the year for bass. I personally prefer casting with a casting reel much more for the majority of applications. I just love the way it feels casting and retrieving. That in turn has made me more proficient with accuracy and working baits correctly. Not to say uoucamt with spinning gear, i just enjoy casting gear and have more confidence with it.- Lews Speed Spool Vs. Shimano Curado
Last year i sent in an avid that i snapped the tip off of but was planning to upgrade to an extreme. Sent the rod fed ex after talking to harry on monday afternoon. Rod arrived their tuesday morning and the new rod wss at my door when i was off work friday late afternoon. This was during the fall. Most upgrades i make are in the spring and usually have the rod in a weeks time.(i do only live 6 hours from park falls though). Dan is by no means hard to deal with but ive personally just found harry to be faster in returning emails or calling me.- Lews Speed Spool Vs. Shimano Curado
Okay well its not "bs". If you read or ask around you will fimdd their customer service is better than most if not one of the best. They are also very busy right now as its that time of year where most are upgrading or trading in rods. I just traded up a legend tournament to extreme and it took a week in a half to get it to my door. That may not sound long but their turnaround is incredibly fast most of the time. Call st.croix ans use extension 120 and not 139. Harry is much more helpful than dan. Emailing them gets you a faster response than calling.- Lews Speed Spool Vs. Shimano Curado
st. croix customer service is second to none in my book. i've sent in rods on a monday and had them an upgrade or replacement friday.- Crankbait Reels?
Chronarh 200e in 6:4 or 6:5 cant recall is my favorite shallow crank reel.- Sensitivity Issues
What size bait were you using or how heavy of a jig. At first glance id assume its the rod but if youre using a tiny bait on a mh rod that could be it too.- St Croix Crankbait Rod
I use the st. Croix legend tournament 7'MHM. Ive used a lot of crank rods and this one is second to none.- Anyone Else Love Rooster Tails?
I personally dont. However the only times i used in-line spinner baits is stream teout fishing and the spinner of choice goes to panther martin over roostertails each time.- Dobyns Rods
If you have the option of all 3 and no price point then any mh extreme will suit you fantastic.- ? For Guys That Have Used St Croix Trade Up
Ive used it a few times and the turn around is always less than a week for me from day i send in to day it arrives at my house.- 6Lb Sufix 832
nanofil is coming out with high vis lines in a few weeks. i think the colors are green/yellow/blue maybe? and the clear mist is staying. super 8 does defiantly need to be broken in. after that period it's my favorite but i've only used it in lighter # tests.- Bps New Extreme Xps Rod?
forgot about this post. anybody? - Strictly Spinning Reel Users
