I recently did the same thing. At the begining of the year I got some jigs and some spinnerbaits. Tried them both, now that spawn is starting up the spinnerbait is getting bit and my confidence is growing. Jigs are harder so far. I feel they are going to take more time to catch fish period, lot more to learn in way of where to throw, how to work, sublty of changing trailer size/shape/action. weigh of fall, type of jig etc. Just my personal experience for you to think about my observations.

I hear great things about the energy pt's and the older models are hard to come or pretty pricey used. New models I would go smoke, energy, kinetic. the hell cat looks interesting. But I won't budge off my pflueger spinning reels. Only quantum I buy are BC reels unless I get a deal on a smoke inshore spinner.

I forgot to mention I own the older model energy PT. I know friends that have them as well. Also friends that use the quantum code. It is probably the cheapest alum frame reel out there. It ain't the fanciest or prettiest but they say it gets it done. Couple of buddies I talk to use lews, nothing but good things about those as well. Pm bassnlou he owns a couple different models he probably can give u the run down.

Dude I hear good things about the accurist and at $120 ish the catalyst is there too. Check out this site called Reds Gear it has some decent deals. It is ok if you don't like shimano. I don't either, they will get over it lol If you feel like hunting around look for the older model Energy PT. some place discount and some have yet to, but you should be able to pick one up for around a 100.
