  1. The medium heavy goes up to 5/8oz. With 1/4oz bullet weights, I'd go medium heavy over the medium. With your plastic and hook, you should be right in the rod's sweet spot 3/8-1/2oz.
  2. 7 foot medium power fast action is what I have. The 6'6" and the 7' model are the same 1/8-1/2oz, I just prefer 7' rods
  3. Keitechs, Swimming Flukes, Swimsenkos, Grasspigs, Subwoofers, Grubs, SpeedCraws, PacaCraws and RageCraws are some that I use.
  4. I have 3 rods at the $100 price point: 7' M St.Croix Mojo, 7' M Abu Veritas, and the 7' M Carbonlite. I prefer the Carbonlite and use it for soft plastics.
  5. No experience with the BPS spinning reels, sorry. This is my spinning reel rule: If I have alot of extra $ - Daiwa/ Shimano, not a lot of $ - Pflueger.
  6. Yes 1 year warranty. I'd be all over that 40% BPS discount if I were you!!
  7. I have a Johnny Morris sig series II and a Carbonlite, I'm pretty sure it's the same rod blank 85 million modulus. Sig series uses better guides has a carbon cloth material in the handle for added strength. Unless the sig series is on sale I would just get the Carbonlite. I also have a Sustain FE, 2 Stradic Ci-4's, Saros FA, and 2 Pflueger Presidents. I like my Shimanos but in all honesty, the Presidents are hard to beat for the price. And... I forgot to mention, my "fishing buddy" threw my tackle bag from a boat on to a dock right on top of a BPS Bionic Blade, snapped it like a twig right in half. No receipt, BPS did an exchange no questions asked!
  8. Pop Max is awesome! It has 2 slits in the cup of the mouth that spit water out the gills on the side. Feather rear treble, sticky hooks, and sweet colors!
  9. Mike D Favorite moment season 8.......6 or 7 two liters a day!!!?!?...
  10. ^ x2 on what Catt said
  11. Downsize and slow down
  12. Are you talking about casting or spinning reels?
  13. rods: (TW prices) Dobyns Champion 703/704 - $249.99 Dobyns Extreme 703 - $299.99 Croix LTB MF MH/F - $249.99 Croix Xtreme MF MH/F - $400 Loomis GLX 853 MH/XF- $455 I have an NRX 852, it's kinda on the lighter side of things, lure rating 1/8-3/8oz. I wouldn't suggest it as all purpose rod. reels: Shimano Ci-4+ or Stradic FJ
  14. Im right handed, my baitcasters and spinning setups are righty. Retrieving with my left hand feels wrong after so many years reeling with my right hand. Tried to go lefty, couldn't do it.
  15. Welcome to Bass Resource. Abu Garcia Veritas and a Revo S is a nice combo close to your price range. BPS Carbonlites are nice rods for $100. medium/fast or medium heavy/fast
  16. I have two presidents, wood handle & new version. Super smooth & a great reel for the price!
  17. Geez..Well at least you got that sucker out of your face and are ok for the most part, but hey at least you got your red eye back! You and that thing have a "closer" relationship now! I still have my x-rap that went in my leg in one of my 360 boxes.
  18. What power and action are you using? I think it's more of a personal preference thing and people will suggest different things, but I like more of a stiffer rod with a fast tip. But If it feels like your reeling a fish in the entire time, your rod might be under powered. I throw 3/8oz on rods rated at at least 5/8oz, I've thrown 3/8oz on 1/2oz rated rods and it didn't feel right to me.
  19. I've hooked myself in the leg one time, no fun! Ever since then, I rip my snags to the side if I can.
  20. Paca Craws or Rage Craws mostly, but I use others... Single tail/ twin tail grubs, Havoc Subwoofer, Zoom assorted craws, RI beavers/SK rodents/PitBoss, many brands of creatures & swimbaits w/ boot tails.
  21. Thank God it wasn't your eye!!
  22. I use a medium heavy casting rod, War Eagle 3/8oz spinnerbait with a colorodo and willow blade in white or white/chart most of the time. Usually for me, when they bite it, they kill it. But if the blades stop or it feels heavy, set the hook. I guess you can drag it on the bottom and fish it like a jig, but I usually slow roll it close to the bottom. You gotta experiment with your retrieve fast, slow, steady, reel and stop, few jerks here and there. The fish will let you know!!
  23. I use InvizX 6-10lb, kvd line & lure helps with memory, close the bail with your hand, and I raise my rod tip slightly to take out extra slack in the line before reeling.
