  1. Awesome cheap bait, but for some reason I was missing fish somehow on pitbosses using gamakatsu 3/0 ewg's, had to switch to trokar 3/0 ewg to get better hook up percentage...weird. If you tex-pose with trokars, it ruins the skin hooked part of the bait quicker than gamakatsus though.
  2. I have the 853, bought it for jigs. It's alright but a little heavy, I agree that it's not worth $200. Also have 852 NRX for lighter rigs... amazing rod.
  3. I use 6-10 pound InvizX on all spinning set ups. I throw every bait/lure there is on them (but top water gets mono). I usually use 6 lbs for weightless senkos & flukes, 8 lbs for light t-rigs & 1/4 oz jigs, 10 lbs for anything 3/8 oz and up. I have 2 presidents, great reels super super smooth! but sometimes the line would jump off. I started to close the bail with my hand and made sure there was no slack before reeling. I also tried to put a little less line when spooling and using KVD line & lure while spooling. It helped alot. Moving to Shimano spinning reels pretty much ended any problems i had experienced with my Quantums & Pfluegers, especially line twists that eventually ended up turning into knots (the worst problem!!)
  4. This kils me everytime!!! "Hey guys, you just want to hop in my boat?" When bank fishing... it's ten times worse when this happens!!
  5. That's my goal every year, crack that d**n 5lbs. Can catch a couple 4's every year but can't seem to trick the big mama's. So far this year I'm stuck on 3lbs 10oz caught on swim jig/ paca craw. It's still early tho, with this messed spring I think everything got pushed back a few weeks. I'm in the Plainfield area and I'm catching pre-spawners. Usually It would be post spawn by now.
  6. Most of the biggest bass I've caught on soft stick baits (senko type baits) including my p.b. 4lbs 9oz, there was a very light tap or no tap at all, just felt different when I did the "pressure test" (raising the rod tip a little to see if anything was on the other end). You always gotta be a line watcher fishing soft plastics and can't wait too long to set the hook, they're gonna spit it or swallow it!

  8. x2- I picked up a Megabass Pop X, Pop Max, X Pod Jr., and Giant Dog X for some new top water action! Also picked up a Megabass Knuckle 60 crank & Megabass FX9 Strobe jerk. Now just waiting for some non-freezing weather to try these bad boys out!!
  9. "It's a start"?? Geez, I'd be satisfied for the rest of the year if I could lip a big momma like that!! Congrats on the hog!!
  10. Will it bite again? Broke off on something, re-rigged my hook and senko casted to same spot, fish on! Double gut hooked in 5 minutes, removed both hooks and saved this little guy! Obviously didn't learn his lesson.
  11. Well... we shouldn't get the question "Do you think this bait is too big?" anymore!!
  12. Yep, I have the wild cards for the NRX and GL2.

  14. Great customer service. They replaced a damaged NRX no questions asked.
  15. I own a Pflueger President 6730 and for $60, I'm impressed because it's still silky smooth after 3 years of abuse. But I was at BPS yesterday playing around with the new Symetre and Saros, both were very nice.
  16. I think I saw Joe playing with Clapton on some TV show one time, he's a younger guy but he was awesome!
  17. Watch your line and set the hook ASAP, try to keep the pressure on 'em, and you can't wait to set like soft plastics because they'll spit it IMO.
  18. What about some braid and a flouro leader, and try to get similar line diameters. Used to use uni to uni to tie it but thanks to bassresource, I've been using the alberto and I'm not going back, It's just easier to tie for me.
  19. I got a CI4 this year too, I actually like it better then my Sustain FE. I have the CI4 2500 on a JM Sig Series, it's feels so light! I had the President 6730 and it was alright, but to me Shimano is better.
  20. Dang, that second papermouth is a slab!!
  21. Nice job on another big mama!!
  22. Best thing was just fishing in general with my grandfather when I was a kid on Bull Shoals in Arkansas before he passed away.
