Good Luck Rvadog, I am done for July.

Florida Bragging Rights, Take 3, July 1St - 31St
Nice Andrew!! I guess that one seals the deal with you for July. Like I mentioned yesterday, I still want to compete to the very end, but my elbow really needs the rest. Unless, someone pulls off a hail mary of a day fishing. Andrew may be the King of the hill for July. I gotta give credit where credit is do. Andrew you had an awesome July.

South Fl Freshwater Fishing Is Like A Box Of Chocolate....
I tell you what. I work in Weston a couple days a week. I will scout the area and tell you which one. I only have about 2 weeks to try the spot because once school starts access I am sure will be limited. I will keep you posted Snook.

Caught A Big One Today On The Swimbait!(Pic Heavy)
Great fish. I am envious, of the hard swimbaiters. You guys have to endure several trips without catching one fish, but then when you guys do they are really nice. My hats off to your persistence.

That's cool. Too bad the frog bite was not on while you were there. I am sure your numbers for the contest would have jumped up.

Lost A Nice One This Morning!! Now Question On Drag Setting.
Losing a nice fish is always tough Fireguy. Proper drag, and solid hookset as you know are the keys to land a nice fish. I am not technical when it comes to drag setting. I do not take weight readings like other anglers. I simply over the years have learned what is the proper tension that works for me and the fish I catch, by pulling out line by hand. I basically look and feel by hand what the right tension should be. Once I have it dialed in, I leave it alone. If I come across a monster, and it loads up real good on the rod I manually start pulling out line while keeping good tension. With these new strong lines, the amount of give they have is close to nothing, so you run the risk of a nice fish pulling the hook if fish has a lot of fight in him close to the boat/bank.

20+ bass, sounds like you had a great day Martin. The spot you chose, the background looks great for frogging that grass, I see. The pond really looks like its pretty flooded. I could be wrong, I am basing it out of one pic. Also, it does not sound like you were run off by troopers. That's a plus too.

South Fl Freshwater Fishing Is Like A Box Of Chocolate....
Wow!! 15lbrs!! that fishing spot alone then technically holds several of the state records for peacocks. That isn't worth 50 mile drives if you have access to it Snook?

Not really, pea's are usually caught on fast moving lures. This particular fish, I was stalking for a while and it committed on lure.

Mike, I caught that pea on a yum 4 inch stick bait. It's unconventional for peacock fishing, but I was stalking this one for about 20mins.

I have decided, that I am done for the month. I know I have few days left, but I am going to end this month on a high note with that peacock. My elbow is really acting up with all of this fishing, and I am ignoring the warnings. If I continue I will be in trouble. Best of the luck to rest of the participants. Although it was slow, I had a good month. Caught a 6lb bass and beautiful peacock bass. Til next time.

We're To Fish
You are fortunate to fish such a pretty place. Looks peaceful. As far as fishing goes, all the techniques mentioned plus some other ones will work just fine there. Over time you will learn what pattern works best depending on the time of year. Great place to hone in your bass skills. Enjoy!!

Anyone Throwing A Lews?
I have had, my Lews MG for well over a year and I really like it. Last Sunday I caught a 6lbr in some decent cover and the reel did awesome cranking the bass out. Now I really love this reel.

Best Time For Topwater
Since I cannot, fish in the a.m. or p.m. evenings I do all my top water fishing during the day. I have had very good success fishing at the brightest part of the day. The key for me at least, is to find the right cover to fish. My main topwater bait is the frog, following that would be a swim bait. During the day I look for cover that bass would most likely flock to given the time day. If my hunch is correct and the bass are there, and "willing" to accept my offering, hold on because the strike is awesome.

I just got back in, and it sucked today. Not even a nibble. I am going to have to venture out further and find other areas that are similar to that retention pond. Man, I miss that place so much already. Time is running out.

AK, look at the pic I put up, where the red arrow is located, is where the 6lb exploded on my frog.

I like seeing AK and MCS getting outside their comfort zones and using B/C's. I am telling you, its going to change the way you approach fishing. Ever since that big one on Sunday, I have not been able to catch anything worth culling. I lost a nice one on Tues, that would have gotten me closer to AK but it got off. I will head out and try for an hour or so later. Yeah, AK, you would have gone crazy where I was on Sun. The pic does give the place justice.

Andrew, sounds like you guys have to do equipment checks. I am sure the reel you broke the other day, was showing signs of a crack somewhere you were not aware of. Your buddies rod must have been damaged already also. Remember, braid is very powerful and you have make sure your reel's drag is properly set at all times when handling braid or heavy lines for that matter.
