Has anyone been fishing the current line of Lews reels? What are your honest thoughts? I've been throwing the Tournament Pro and the Super Duty models for a while now - and I can't ever see me using something else again, EVER. I hear guys raving about the Revos and many other type reels, but I've also read a few articles where die-hard Abu and Shimano guys are making the switch as well. Its clear that Lews reels are back, but I'm personally curious to see how popular the current models will get. Has anyone had any bad experiences with this line? I throw 6"-9" Swimbaits on the Super Duty and have caught 10-20lb Striper, no problem. They're really great reels...

Just got a Speed Spool a couple of weeks ago, it's a great reel.

New to the forum - late to the Lews dance and I can't ever see myself going back to the Chronarch or Curado series, these two I've got are the real deal.

I have a Lew's Speed Spool on my spinnerbait rod. It was finicky to set it properly and backlashed a lot at first but now that I have it set right and rarely throw anything else on it I can cast it a mile and really like it. It's been a great reel for $100 but it has started making some noise on the cast recently after a couple years of use. I'm sure once I send it in to get cleaned this winter it will be good as new. 

How are their spinning reels? I was thinking about getting one they are a good price and I know they make good baitcasts

I had a really BAD experience with Lews. I bought one, and liked it SO MUCH, I bought 5 more....lol.

The MG only has magnetic breaks, get one with centrifical? breaks and thank me later.

I have a Tourney Pro and the older Speed Spool on a cheaper rod. Both are rock solid reels that cast a mile. The Tourney Pro is quite a bit lighter.

I know I hear their BC reels are great, don't want to hijack thread, but does anyone use their rods? Good or bad?

I have had, my Lews MG for well over a year and I really like it. Last Sunday I caught a 6lbr in some decent cover and the reel did awesome cranking the bass out. Now I really love this reel.

Bought 2 of their $80.00 Speed Sticks a couple years ago. They are okay, a little heavy, but after using Dobyns Champion, and G Loomis rods, everything seems heavy...lol.

I have a Lews tournament MG and my next baitcaster will be a Lews tournament pro. I love my MG. My next spinning reel is either going to be a Lews speed spin or the Mitchell 300PRO that's coming out.

I can't see myself going with any other brand of baitcaster. My only possible complaint would be the color. I'm not a big fan of that olive drab green the tourney pro comes in. It just looks out of place on the rods I like.

I just got the 7:1 BB1 and boy is it nice. It is super smooth, has great bearings in it (free spin spool for 20 seconds) and best of all is the price. 

 

 

I opened it up to clean some grease out and notice a beefy main drive gear. One negative about the reel is I noticed a lot of plastic parts. Not sure how that holds up over time. But out of the box, reel is solid!

To satisfy the fanboy's i'll just say two years ago I sold all the low profile reels I had used for years after trying the Tournament, (not the MG) when they started selling I started buying Lew's, the Tournament Pro was next, when I started using it I liked it even better than the Tournament, and they were the first reels I had ever used with dual braking, I loved em so much the next 4 I bought were 1 Team and 3 Team Gold, I could not believe the quality. Then I bought a BB1, I just wanted my own hands on opinion of the reel. I was so happy I decided to try a Super Duty for one of my pike rods,,,,,, a month later I sold the 400B Calcutta that I had on that rod. If the Super Duty had a bait clicker on it I would sell the other 400B and replace it with the Super Duty, it is on the 7'6" Extreme Musky rod I also use it for flipping heavy cover, it is sooooo ssmmmooooooothhh and small with as much drag as the 400B, it just has so much power with it's 5.4:1 gears and so smooth it's unbelievable. Regardless what model, DON'T BUY ONE,,,,,,  or be prepared to buy more, the more expensive reels do bring bigger smiles!!! Been there done that, and aint look'n back!!

 

As for the rods, I can only state what I have heard, and that is they are good rod's but not the performance the top end Loomis and Croix rods are. But as for the spinning reels I will say they are better than the bubble pack Shakespeare at wally world, probably about the same quality as the bubble pack Cardinals and Quantum's form there, there are better choices!

I have always said the TP is the best value out there especially if you are patient and look around.

Tournament Pro Speed spool here. Love it. Want to get another. Ebay was the cheapest.

I love my Lews Tournament MG. The reel is so smooth and it casts like a dream. I have had problems with other brands, but none with my Lews. I will be sticking with them.

You'll like it, but right now I can't find them anywhere for the price I got mine for,,,,,patience!! I think you will find, there is no more NYLON or DELRIN used in the Lew's reels than the other name brands,,,,,keeping with the spirit of the thread,,,,

Great reels.  You won't be disappointed with whatever one you choose.  They have a reel for every application, in every speed and for every technique. 

Had 6 of them. Enjoyed every one of them. I've recently sold them all and bought a jdm td-z and a steez. I like the customization part of Daiwas.
