  1. Buzzbait and big worms
  2. Be it high/low pressure, rain or no rain, hot or cold. Weather conditions will always play a factor in fishing. One of the keys I think, is to capitalize on these weather transitions. Identifying when its going to happen and fish if we have the opportunity to do so.
  3. I have had the Weber genesis now for more than 7yrs and still going strong. Great grill. Sturdy and heats up nicely. It can reach temps of +500 degrees.
  4. Fstr85, LOL, your last pic looks like its a proof of life photo with the paper underneath and the date put on it. Your modesty, is cool."I am only at 95 inches"? At least for me the fishing has been challenging lately. Then again I have only been out 5 times in the month of June.
  5. Hearing all these complaints is disappointing. I have two Gen 3 models and knock on wood so far, so good. I have had them for close to year and they have been great.
  6. Great baits, rig them just like the video instructed you. You have to be creative on the smallest size. Fish those on a size one hook, and reel them slowly. The tails are so small that if you over power them they will rollover. The bigger two sizes are not hard to fish at all. Again, just follow the rigging instructions of the video. Have fun.
  7. I know the fish is sandy, but no one said the fish were going to be cooperative to strike a pose.
  8. I caught this 16 incher a couple of hours ago. This one culls out my 15 incher. I know they are not monsters, but if I wait for those I will never get to post and play. We have 12 days left, to make something happen. My total is 81.5 inches.
  9. UNBELIEVABLE!! Thanks for sharing.
  10. MCS, good luck tomorrow. BTW I think I am in the lead, only until AK produces the proof of his catches!! (LOL, just messing with you AK. I know you are having technical issues.) I have not been able to go out much which is what I expected this month. The heat down here isn't helping either.
  11. Rvadog, imho, summer time is a bit more challenging to fish in canals. The heat is a big turn off. However, during this time of year is when we receive the highest amount of rainfall causing the water to flow in canals. Fishing around culverts during this time can be productive. Peacock fishing can be productive though. They spawn in the summer if I am not mistaken. Bass, try for them in the morning or late afternoon. Best of luck. I know it can be frustrating wanting to catch a fish and everywhere you try is a ghost town.
  12. Depending on what you are throwing, you may have to tweak it a little. Mainly the tension knob if your baits vary in weights. Other than that, sounds like you adjusted the reel just fine. Go have fun.
  13. Thanks bocabasser, I appreciate the info.
  14. To transport a fish less than 50 yards is not a big deal at all. You can place the fish in a cooler with enough water to keep its gills submerged. Walk over and place them in the new lake. Now, here is the warning. Find out what the laws are of your area. I know its not a big deal walking from one lake, walking 50 yards to the other lake, however your area could have laws against that. You never know.
  15. Largemouth Angler, your conviction is commendable. I do not know how much reading you do in regards to what it actually takes to produce "Big" bass. Off the top my head, the late Doug Hannon has a great book, and an easy read called "Big Bass Magic". The places you mentioned to me, although logical, cannot produce a world record. Yes, there is no denying there are bass in the teens in those waters. But a 20 + lbr!! Is not happening. I am sorry. Pls continue the hunt and prove us wrong. I will be the first guy here to say how wrong I was. Take an awesome pic and stand proud if you catch the next world record in FL.
  16. Tetanus shot is not bad at all. I got a treble hook deeply stuck into my thumb last year and had to go to the ER. They removed the hook gave me some antibiotics as a precaution, a tetanus shot and I was fine. I moved my arm just fine.
  17. Duh! you are absolutely right, you are the OP. my mistake.
  18. You have a nice spot picked out for yourself. Bocabasser, you always provide beautiful pics and some tips or advice will be found useful for many of us down here in South FL. Nice catches!!
  19. Good luck, hope you recover quickly.
  20. I am from Florida, and it would be great if Fl caught the next record, but its not happening. I hate to disagree with another Floridian, however our environment, although it produces big beautiful bass, is not conducive to hold a 20+ pounder. Trust me, I would love to be wrong.
  21. Pea's are active in the summer months. I think however, that OP question was geared more towards canal fishing in general.
  22. Keep it simple when canal fishing. All of the above baits will catch you fish. Also, there is an array of other soft plastics that will work also. For ex, trickworms, centipedes, finesses worms, flukes were mentioned, buzzing frogs, the options are endless. What I found in my experience, canal fishing is all about the gear and the approach you use. Use the lightest weight and line you can get away with, and your approach must be stealth like. Bass vision is unbelievable, and if you stomp your way to the bank and cast in front of you, game over. Keep your casts to the sides, walk slowly, and keep your rod tip down. Keep the color of your clothes to earth tones. Some may disagree to these extremes but these fish aren't dumb. Lastly, do not leave home without polarized glasses. Bass will be right in front of you and you will miss them.
  23. I have both the G3, S and STX and I have zero complaints. I will advise you however if you get the S, once you start fishing with it keep a close eye on the faceplate screw located on the right side of the reel. If not screwed tightly, it will loosen and cause your spool to lock during your cast. Not a big deal, just be aware of it.
  24. What's the power rating of the rod itself? That will determine if you have the backbone needed to stick and fight the fish. I personally will not use anything less MH. I use H for my frogging rod. If you have the right power rating, the weight of your bait should not be an issue.
