  1. AK-NJ, you make down here, and we will go out to the Glades together.
  2. Welcome Juan. Down here in S.FL, there are canals galore. Now fishing them and catching from them is a totally different ballgame. Nice catch, btw.
  3. If that reel is also used for your topwater applications, braid is going to present differently. You may or may not like it. I personally do not use braid for my topwater applications like jerkbaits, spooks, or flukes. For frogs and swimbaits I do use braid.
  4. Here is my tip. Throw all your new stuff, give them all 30 min or so, and then see which one produced for you, and stick with that one.
  5. Cool app, but do you really want to be reporting your actual spots?? LOL.
  6. That place SCREAMS FOR A FROG. Time of day does not matter with cover like that. That place looks awesome.
  7. Steve, listen to what Bluebasser86 posted. It's spot on. If you have the ability to make $$ here and there, look at small boats and good little trolling motors and your in business. When I was your age moons ago, a friend of mine lived on a 5 acre lake and he had an old aluminum 8ft boat. I bought a paddle, some rope, and cinder block for an anchor. I would fish in that little boat for hours. Didn't know much about how to really bass fish, but I had a blast. I have a bass boat now and I do not get to go out as often as I like, so the majority of my fishing is from the bank. Yes, bank fishing will produce you fish and sometimes trophy's but a boat provides with more opportunities and accessibility that you can not get from the bank.
  8. I can't even imagine fishing without my polarized glasses. My back pair of sunglasses are polarized. That's how serious I am about my eyewear. I get a kick when people come by to see me fish sometimes and they ask if those are those special "fishing glasses". I show them the special glasses and their mouths drop. I converted a buddy of mine who doesn't even fish. He would always question what the big deal was with these glasses until I let him try on my pair. From that day on every pair of sunglasses he owns have to be polarized.
  9. AK-NJ, you have one heck of a honey hole to produce the fish your catching. Would you say those fish are averaging 4lbs each or more? I went out yesterday to my spot thinking I had them dialed in, and nothing. My hats off to you with the numbers you are putting up.
  10. Wow!! 5 days in and you set the bar at 90inches already AK-NJ. YOU THE MAN!!
  11. Yeah, the entrance to the Holey Lands is right after the county border, you do your first U-turn and you will see the sign and entrance on the right off 27. It's 6 miles West from there to the ramp.
  12. Man AK-NJ you don't mess around. I like that. I am with MCS, pics?? I am going to my area today, weather keeps threatening though. MCS, good seeing you up on the board. Too bad you missed that big one.
  13. All that area is considered Everglades. If you have ever fished the glades its the same assortment of baits and techniques for this time of year. I fished that area years ago. I do not remember if the fish have access to marsh and flats out there. If they do, then their migration more than likely have begun.
  14. Thanks MiamiMike, I know the ramp you are talking about. I have not fished that area a lot this year. I do not know if you are aware of it or not but if you drive right over the county line you are referring to, the entrance to the Holey Lands is right there. The only thing is that the reports from there right now say that the fishing is slow.
  15. You have not updated your profile so I do not remember what part of town you live in. If you are thinking about blue lagoon, I would re-think it. You have limited bank accessibility. The only public area is the park, where the boat ramps are located, and even there you have to pay to enter during the weekend. Being its a 4th of July weekend, its going to be busy. My suggestion if you are that determine to catch peacocks, familiarize yourself with your area. I think you live in South Broward. I could be wrong. There is a strong population of pea's in South Broward. Save your gas, Miami-Dade County is a very big place, and unless you are willing to drive down and find "spots" then it might be worth your while. Sounds like your really determined to catch peacocks, maybe you should consider a half day guide trip to familiarize yourself with Miami-Dade waters. Just a thought. Good Luck

I trim mine sometimes just so that I can have a smaller profile.
  17. It's good to here 27 produced for you. Right now the hotspot is Lox. Many members on here have posted some nice catches from there recently.
  18. MiamiMike what side on 27 did you have success? Were you fishing the flats out of Sawgrass?
  19. I fish the live target frog exclusively, the only reason why your frog should have water inside of it, is when you miss a bass. Other than that if your frog is taking in water its because its damaged somewhere. Check it very carefully. Usually, its the hooks that may have pierced the body or after several good hooksets it tears around the nose line attachment. If that happens, unfortunately its time to get another one because they just do not function right after they start taking in water.
  20. Thanks, I was telling MCS, that that fish was in a wolf pack that kept passing thru every few minutes from where I was fishing. There were six of them that looked to be in the 3-5+ lb range. The cool thing about wolf packs if you convince one to bite the others will join in.
  21. AK-NJ, no I did not weigh the fish. I am getting so caught up on the length of the fish, that weight is an after thought. Unless its a PB, which in my case is 7.25lbr then I will take the scale out.
  22. I wish FSTR385. Just got lucky. After those two, they shut down. It's going to be a fun month. You guys know what your doing, and since everyone is stepping up their game I think its going to be a close one.
  23. Fstr385 and LgMouthG are nice guys to take you out. Best of luck this month, Mvorbrodt.
  24. Thanks, MCS. I am glad you are able to sneek out for a bit. How is that baby girl doing? Yeah, the last fish was a nice fatty. I was working a wolf pack and there were 6 of them I was working. I was able to land the smaller two. Go figure!!
