  1. Really?? Please explain yourself and maybe we can help.
  2. You are going to get various responses from a lot of good fisherman here. I personally started with a mag brake system and honestly I did not know any better. I didn't even know about braking systems. I adjusted the tension knob accordingly and time on the water and backyard took care of the rest. The Sx is a nice reel. I have a Gen 2 and compared to the new Gen 3 its heavy. I also have the Gen 3 Revo S this has a centri brake system and if you adjust properly and practice its one heck of a reel and its cheaper than the Sx. I have no experience with the garcia rods so I am out of that conversation. I have mine paired with a 7ft carbon lite MH and it weighs practically nothing.
  3. I keep it real simple. 1/8 oz on a size 1 EWG gamigatzu. They either hit on the drop or fish it lazily on the bottom. Caught 15 today, using that technique. The fishing were on today. I left after 2hrs of fishing and they were still hitting.
  4. I would have never believed it if I didn't see that video.
  5. Mine is to catch my LM PB at +8.
  6. From the bank or from a boat. Lakes from the bank you have tropical and amelia park. If you have access to residentials there are a ton of those. From a boat? You have the blue lagoon chain of lakes and access to canals. Hope that helps.
  7. I am happy to see you are keeping up with your BIG bass quota. Beautiful fish. I love your titles. Each of them has a theme.
  8. I am guilty as charged. d**n infomercials!!! I have not completely given up on them since I fish in the everglades, and I have seen little snakes swimming around sometimes. However I have not caught any monster bass yet. I have had more luck and monster strikes by simply using a hollow body frog.
  9. It's a heck of an initiation.
  10. That's one heck of a FWD. LOL
  11. Man... That trip looked and sounded AWESOME!!!! Bucket list scratcher for sure. Count your blessings my friend.
  12. No worries "Bassin is addicting" I get where you were coming from. You are right. Unless you have had one you cannot explain it. You can count on the fact that I will do everything necessary "not" and I repeat "not" get one of those stones again.
  13. I got the whole enchilada. I got the stent, the laser, and god knows what else.
  14. The last three threads have been very insightful. Bass fishing to me is an outlet. It grounds me in so many different levels. What amazes me about bass fishing is the fact that you meet someone and once you find out they bass fish you click almost right away.I guess that's why I enjoy this site so much.
  15. Well I can proudly say I am stone free. By the way, Mr. "Bassin is addicting" I read your post this morning. Although very detailed, you were correct on your description. I will spare all of you the details but let's just say after the procedure you are not out of the woods yet with recovery. Granted its been less than 24hrs post op, so as time passes I will recover and gradually feel more comfortable. Doc told me I had two stones that were lodged in my ureter that gave the appearance of one stone. Best advice I have received several times thus far is drink plenty of fluids. The equivalent of 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Thanks again for the all the kind words everybody. I never met any of you personally however I feel at home here at BR with all of you.
  16. I just wanted to thank everyone for the best wishes. I will keep you guys posted after the procedure.
  17. Fishing Rhino, thank you for the kind words. Only until they retrieve the stone, will they be able to identify its chemical make up and possibly determine the cause.
  18. Nice fish. You are right indeed. Bass fishing is going to pick up soon. Promising reports coming out of the glades already and we are still in late late november. Can't wait.
  19. Thanks man appreciate it.
  20. Right before thanksgiving my kidney decided to give me a present in the form of a kidney stone. I have never had one before nor do I care to have another. I cannot even begin to explain the pain. I had to go to ER and they confirmed it was a 3mm stone. I have had 3 consecutive episodes Tues-Thurs of last week and they have stopped. However no stone. Never passed it. Went to urologist yesterday and now I have to have a procedure done ( I will spare all of you the name of it) where they go thru you know where and try to find the stone and zap it with a laser. I am scheduled tomorrow for the procedure. Long story short . Not a happy camper. All I want to do is bass fish in peace, is that too much to ask for? . I have had fishermans elbow now for months I am recuperating ok from that and now kidney stone surgery. What a way to wrap up the year. Wish me luck.
  21. Congratulations!! The boat looks great. Sounds like you did your homework. Enjoy!!
  22. Great fish, jealous, have not caught one that size in a while.
  23. Great job, Those kids are "hooked". Pun intended.
  24. Welcome back to bass fishing!! The best advice I can give you it to utilize this website for the articles and videos. I have been bass fishing for a while and I am still learning and getting ideas from the videos and articles. Not to mention from fellow anglers on this website. Sorry, i could not be more specific, but you will see once you see what I am talking about.
  25. Cool Video. Did you just shoot video or did you also get to fish a little? The bass numbers in the vid did not look like they were scarce.
