  1. 4 or 5 times in a month. I could say it may be the weather in July and fishing on the shore at around noon but it might sound like an excuse lol.
  2. 6 or 8 lb Maxima ultragreen fishing line for throwing 1/32- 1/8 oz weights. I love the abrasion resistance of it and the casting is phenomenal. Right now it's on my Daiwa Steez 2508 ( close to a Shimano 2500) and no regrets on leaving it there. For braid I use 8 or 10 lb Berkley Fireline in smoke and that's on a Daiwa Exist, also a great line
  3. I use a very high grit sand paper like 450 and gently sand the grip until it feels smooth and put on some U40 cork sealant and your done! I did it to some of my Megabass rods and they still look new after 3-4 years of use.
  4. Welcome. I'm from Minnesota too! Lol
  5. So far last week 2 Daiwa Steez AGS rods and a Daiwa Zillion SV TWS 6.3:1 for 1251.22 and this week 52.00 on 1/4 oz Outcast swim jigs at Cabelas. Monkey gets me every year
  6. Nice catch! We have to wait until May 28 for all the lakes to open up for bass fishing here in Minnesota
  7. I would do go with a 703 if I wanted a quick hook set with a 6.3:1 reel. 733 if I wanted a longer distance casting pitch and more leverage when the fish is close to you with a 7.3:1 reel.
  8. I fished both 50 & 65 lb braid. I use 65 lb power pro on a 7'4 daiwa steez rod/ zillion reel and it casts pretty nice, but if you want to cast farther i would go 50 lb sunline braid!
  9. If its 8ft of water, the Rapala DT thugs works for me. Also love the rest of the DT series for cranks.
  10. I love using the 3" buzzjet also. pretty much the action is what catches the fish imo. The color I use is: real blue gill, jet black, and bone bass and ghost minnow in a 4". At 25.00 per lure I don't have much of them but they do catch fish and I use them pretty often in the summer!
  11. Jerk baits. 12+ Lucky Craft pointer (and that is just the 100sp). 6 MB Vision 110, 14+ X-rap in different sizes and more jerk baits I don't even remember buying.
  12. My first lucky craft sammy 100sp in chartreuse. I guess it's something that I can always count on in the summer if I see bait fish jumping in open water and because it was my first topwater lure that I learn "to walk the dog"
  13. I use my spinning outfit when the condition calls for it. So when i'm throwing light lures like 3/16,1/8oz shaky head, drop shot, or weightless, I would use a spinning gear. I'm using a G-Lommis NRX and a JDM Shimano sustain 3000 for spinning right now. I would like to throw lighter lures on my BC but I always tend to use heavier lines on it. It's hard to drop a BC when it's Steez 103HA and a CompileX combo IMO
  14. any bass over 2-3# is good for me lol. I think even a 3# smallmouth put up a good fight for me last year.
  15. Take your time and see what color lures/baits people are fishing in your lake. Also take note of the time of day and condition when you are really catching them!
  16. All Terrain senkos,Berkley power worms,Money Minnows, Skinny Dippers, Any Havoc baits, and trick worms... can't have enough trick wormss lol. oh and sweet beavers
  17. LOL +1 for a Steez set-up but I already have a 7'1 Compile-X on a Steez 103HA! Funny thing is my dream set-up would be the new Zillion J-Dream 7.9 ratio on a Steez 7'4 SBD frog rod and a 23# LMB hanging on all of it! haha
  18. Looks pretty good!
  19. Try a finnese jig around 1/4oz and a small paca chunk and it can do wonders around stumps. I actually use 1/2oz jigs with a 4-5" plastic swimbaits and it works too.
  20. Sure you can. Usually I would peg a 1/4-1/2 oz tungsten bullet weight to get through the grass. Also I would recommend a Med-heavy or Heavy action BC rod with braid or fluorocarbon line to get a "good feel" and to pull the bass out.
  21. Megabass orochi rattle viper 3/8oz Death Valley color or 4 blade lime chartreuse.
  22. Hey all, also from central MN here too. Looking forward to the opener but not really big on walleyes lol. I wish I can find a Daiwa dealer around here so I can hold a Zillion 6'9 med-heavy ex fast before buying it lol.
  23. X4. I think that would be my personal best as long I would live MN. Isn't the record here 8.15? that fish would be pretty close lol. Lake Minnetonka is still a favorite bass lake for me for catching quality and QTY bass. Pelican is also great for Pike! I also like the Rum river in Anoka for smallies.
  24. I like fishing with a bottom contact like with a 1/8 shaky head on a spinning outfit or jigs, usually dark (black/blue or red/black) with a rattle and trailer to match it.
  25. 10-16 days in one month. I try to go everyday on the weekend and put in more than 6hrs on one of them. Weekdays I try to go before going to work at night.
