I use the trilene knot and I have 8# test on my line, might even be 10# I forget which I put on this time. My knots are usually reliable so i guess the fish that take my hooks are monsters lol. But I am gonna try to learn a different knot

Funny MCS I was gonna ask him the same question I google Earthed the area and saw a couple ponds out that way and was wondering which one held the beasts he was talking about.

You talking about the one on the corner right before the light on racetrack and bartram? Me and my girlfriend saw someone and their son fishing there in a silver or white SUV could have been you? We were gonna check it out but we went to the Publix pond instead then went to grab some dinner. Today right before dinner around 8:20pm I was fishing my backyard and I hooked a HUGE one easily 6lbs and was well over 22 inches jumped straight out of the water and took my hook right off! I need to learn to tie better knots because this was at least the 3rd or 4th one i lost like that today. Yes it is man I didn't know I had fish this big right in my back yard and I have seen much bigger I think they are spawning or something because I see them close to shore and in groups of 2.

I usually get excited over anything over 2.5lbs. I caught 2 today that were over 4lbs. I just enjoy catching anything really. I moved to Jacksonville from NJ and EVERYTHING here I have caught has been bigger than the biggest I caught in NJ. I LOVE FLORIDA BASS FISHING!!!

All along since I have moved to Jacksonville, about 3 months ago, I have been searching for a lunker pond and it has been in my backyard this whole time.... Here are some of the fish I caught today. I was fishing for about 1 hour and a half and I caught 8 in total all over 2.5lbs. Should have been 9 because I caught one that was easily 4lbs and I brought him on land and was about to lip em to get the hook out and he jumped, hook popped out, and he rolled back into the lake and swam off!!! I also had a huge one jump out of the water and the hook flew right out of his mouth, easily bigger than any of the ones I have in these pictures. I caught them using spinner baits, black and pink power bait worm, and a lure that resembles a shiner. Here are some pics of the fish I caught....

I went to the pond behind publix for about a hour but I didn't catch anything. I was there from like 7:20 and left about 8:30. I fished in the little cove behind bonos didn't get a bite though.

I never fished in the pond by Batrum and race track but I have seen people fish there too. I am gonna try to get out tomorrow and Sunday and try some new spots. I went to those ponds on Batrum that you were talkin about by the old industrial place but I had no luck. I fished the last one that has the tall grass things around it and has a couple openings. I was driving through orange park today and there are a lot of nice ponds by developments that look decent I am probably going to check them out on Sunday. I haven't fished the pond behind publix yet either. I was there on Monday during the break in the weather but then it started to down pour so we left. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much this weekend so I can get out at fish

I went to my normal spot got there around 6:40am and landed my biggest at 7:00am The pond is on the right if you are heading towards San Jose Blvd from Racetrack in the Julington Creek Plantation the pond is right there once you turn into the development. I caught 2 fish this morning only stayed for about 45 mins because my girlfriend was complaining that she was tired. The first one weighed 1.5 lbs. Then I casted out and about 5 mins later I got a huge strike and I must have not tied my hook right and when I was reeling it in the hook snapped off, it was a monster by the way it hit the line. Then about 5 mins later after that I landed this beast...

Those are nice man where was this pond at? Me and my girlfriend are going to get up early around 5:45am and try a few ponds out. This weekend we are going to be fishing a lot since it is going to be sunny and hot. I tried some of the lakes over by the hospital in the business complex but I didn't get any bites. My spot on race track has seemed to die down a lot as well. We were pulling them out left and right but the past couple days we have only caught about 2 to 3 small ones.

Thats a nice one man was the lake you caught that in close to Race track? I am going to post some of the onces that I caught on here, I have a couple nice ones that I pulled out of my usual pond on race track where there is a rumored 11lb (IDK if i believe that) and a 5lb (more believable; that was landed last weekend) swimming around.

I just moved down to FL and I have a lake in my back yard and so far I have put 12 hogs in there, minimum of 2lbs. Starting my own fishing spot so I can wake up drop my line in and catch a big one.

Nice one man I have been fishing off of Racetrack road in Saint Johns County in Jacksonville and me and my girlfriend have caught a total of 12 fish (all around the same size and bigger as the one in my pic, that was the first fish i caught here since I moved to FL) with in 48 hours at this one lake off of Racetrack (and that is just the amount that we were able to net). We have had at least another 6 to 10 snap the line or get unhooked. I just got back a couple hours ago and this guy who was there said that his buddy landed a 11 pounder (IDK if i believe that) and he caught a 5 pounder there last week both were released back into the lake. So I will be there EVERY day tryng to get those 2 on my line.

I am 25 and looking for a fishing partner or a few. I just moved here from NJ with my pregnant girlfriend (she loves to fish too hopefully our son will too). I live off of race track road and fished a couple ponds around here. Today around 3pm I caught 5 bass within a 40 minute period with the smallest being 2 lbs. I am looking for a couple othe good spots and people to fish with. Also does anyone know of any bait shops around San Jose Blvd, Phillips Highway, or anywhere close that sell live bait? Thanks
