Just got one two weeks ago and have only been able to use it once, but it performed very well. Not much different from the previous model except for a different release for the sideplate. Casts a mile and is very smooth. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I were you.

I can't speak for the Daiwa but I just bought the LFS Speed Spool and it is a great little reel.

For anybody needing a cheap casting rod, I've got a 6'6" Med gen 1 abu Garcia vendetta with the tags still on it I'm trying to get rid of for $30. Bought it this summer and decided I didn't really need it, but then walmart would not take it back.

If $115 is your max price, see if you can find the new Tournament MB somewhere for around $120-125. I've seen a few on ebay for that price. I got one of these last week and it seems really solid. It's very light too at 6.7 oz.

Sorry for the confusion and causing this thread to stray off topic, but I wasn't talking about the PQ/Carbonlite combo. I love those and I have 3 of them. The PQ/PQ combo was what I was referring to.

Got you, just had to ask. They train us to positively extract and positively chamber, meaning you pretty much slam the slide forward when chambering the round. That could be something to try.

The only thing that comes to mind is that somehow the magazine is not seating properly. How do you grip the back of the slide when you charge it?

I can't really say yet as I've only shot it once. The Glock is one of the most reliable guns you can buy, but they dont make a single stack 9MM (yet) so I had to go another direction for concealed carry. We put about 50 rounds through it the other day I got it and we had no issues, but that's not much of a sample size.

The combo you got is good. It's the "Pro Qualifier Combo" that comes with the PQ rod that is garbage.

Academy has them for $399 everyday, Cabelas has them on sale right now for that price but they're regularly $449. The XDS is $579 at Academy. I got my Glock at officer pricing 4 years ago so I actually traded straight up without losing anything.

They're very similar, it was a tossup between those two weapons but the price was what swayed me toward the shield.

"The Hunting Rifle" was the name of it. I read it and really enjoyed it. I shoot a .270 for everything except varmint hunting. Granted all we have around here is whitetail but I would have no problem using it for Elk. And it would probably do a fine job on a mountain lion. I agree with the other posters though, for bear I would want something bigger for that SHTF moment.

I've been wanting to get a S&W M&P Shield 9MM for a long time, and I finally got one by trading a Glock 23 to one of our Lt's at work. It feels amazing on my hip and in my hand. The difference in thickness is amazing between this and a Glock. The 8 round mag with the extension is much needed for my gorilla hand as well. Got a Cover 6 hybrid IWB holster, but had to swap clips with my crossbreed as they were too long and very thin compared to the crossbreed.

While this may be a good deal, you're not getting the same reel as you would if you bought it from behind the counter. I got the combo a couple years ago at xmas time and took it back immeditately. The reel was not to the usual standards of the PQ. A few weeks ago I got to talking to an employee at BPS, and he stated that the reels they manufacture for the combo are not the same as the usual PQ and are not as good of quality.
