They got Cespedes at the July 31st trade deadline, so that would have been LONG before this injury to Stanton occurred.

Even if Oakland keeps tanking, if we keep playing this way we're going to fall behind regardless. You're right, we would go insane. I was 3 when they won it in '85 so I don't remember it. Been pouring my heart into this team for as long as I was old enough to understand the game, and this is really the only year we've been involved in the playoff chase in my lifetime, that I can remember (2003 doesn't count, that team was a fraud). It's been rough being a Royals fan but making the postseason this year would make it all worth it.

Unfortunately it looked like they both went, so I guess they technically got the call right. Although I think if they had ruled the other way there would not have been any objection by the Brewers. I had that happen to me in college, high fastball which I thought was a breaking ball so I didn't turn in like they teach us. All I could do was duck out of the way toward first base and as I did the bat crossed the plane. No way was I trying to swing but the umpire saw it differently.

Going to be a cold one tomorrow morning. Hopefully they're as active as they were yesterday. We had fish all over the place whenever we had one on. I had a PIG swipe at the ned when it was in the mouth of about a 12" fish. You would have thought a crank or spinnerbait would have caught some fish considering all the follows back to the boat we had. I even threw a jerkbait for a little while but didn't get anything.

Melvern was pretty good yesterday. Got there about 0600 and fished around the marina cove until the marina opened. We stopped so I could use the facilities and Mike dropped a jig in the water to get a birds nest out and had a pretty nice spot come up and grab it. Made our way to the dam and the sunken island on the north side by the dam. I threw everything I could think of at them without any luck. Finally gave up and started throwing Ned. Non stop is the only way to describe it. Nothing huge but that doesn't really matter with smallies. Can't even count how many 12-14" fish we caught. Our biggest 3 fish of the day were never seen. I had two really big fish just come undone and Mike had something huge break him off. I'd like to think it was a walleye or catfish but who knows. Didn't really see any shad but the wind had something to do with that. The fish did seem a little thicker than the last time we were there, hopefully they're fattening up on shad. We fished for about 4 hours and probably caught 60-75 between the two of us. Biggest of the day

Anyone interested in a 7' M/F BPS Carbonlite spinning rod? I traded a friend from work a couple micro-lite spinning rods but I really dont need the rod. Going to try to sell it on craigslist to fund a new casting reel but wanted to check on here before I posted it. Going to ask $50.

Two of the best days I've ever had fishing for smallies were consecutive days in April last year. Temps in the 40's combined with a steady rain made for a couple of the most miserable days on the water I've ever had........or at least it would have been if the fish weren't DESTROYING a jerkbait. The second day we easily caught 100 between two of us, and all except a couple were caught on a jerkbait.
