Agree 100%. I bought 2 baitcaster combo's last year and I hate them. I would buy a good rod and reel and pair them up. Combos like that are a waste of money IMO. Didnt see it this way at 1st, until I bought a Abu Garcia Revo STX.

I know the spawning is still going on at lake murray. Havent been to Lake Marion yet this year. Its most likely gar chasing baitfish thou. Alot of gar around here.

Mike, Try what Kyle has posted. Ever since I joined BR last year. This has worked everytime, although I've had to cut my line a few times to get the hook turned over through the gils on a smaller fish.

So the 5.4:1 is for deep driving cranks? With the 5.4:1, does it make the crankbaits dive quicker? Guessing you don't have to reel as fast with this 5.4:1 to keep it on the bottom? A little confused. Don't know much about what the gear ratio means. Anyone mind explaining lol. Also what would be the best rod size to use with a reel like this? M, MH or H? Thanks for the replys.

I know im probably gonna get a lot of different answers from everyone. Whats the best advice someone could give me on what reel gear ratio to use on what lures? Ex. Im using a topwater frog, would you use a 6.4:1 , 7.1:1 or 8.0:1? Ex. Fishing the bottom with a worm, What should I be using?

Haha I feel your pain. I thought catching 11 the other day in a pond with only fishing 2 hours was good. Not so much now.

Im wanting to try the Rage Tail anaconda worm in big tex. It looks like its a dark color bait on the worm body. I have a lot of dark muddy water here and would like to try that color.

Where are some good websites that sell fishing rods and reels and etc besides TW and BPS? I like TW but they dont have the colors I want in certain baits.

Thats probably 2-3 hours from orangeburg then. Maybe less than 2 hours to get to Lake Murray where i usually fish, well where I try to fish. Haha. Havent had much luck on the lake yet but im trying to figure it out.
