  1. Anyone ever tried out these AEP Recreation lakes?? They look good but I've never been there..
  2. Is there a decent place to find maps of these lakes? I can only find basic maps.. Want to give these a try
  3. Yo fell Ohioans! Want to get out on the lake for the first time but I am kind of limited this weekend, so I won't be able to make it out to Erie. Anyone been to Berlin or anywhere close? Having any luck?! Thanks in advance!
  4. Right now I have a Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 and I am thinking about buying the add on so I can use the I-pilot feature. I had some questions on how people liked it and what you don't like about it. Anything would be helpful, thanks!
  5. Awesome guys, thanks for the tips. I generally just fish Lake Erie, but sometimes there isn't enough time in the day and Ive been trying to find a good, close lake to substitute when things are hectic. Thanks again!
  6. Any of these you like more for largemouth/smallmouth? Thanks
  7. I think you posted a video about this recently and it was one of the best tips I've gotten about tackle setups, so thanks for that. That being said, I agree, tape prevents slip.
  8. Yeah mogadore can be good, at times lol. It's prob my favorite inland lake around here
  9. Yeah!! Ha. I'm from NE Ohio as well, can't wait. What's your favorite lake around here?
  10. Another one here who just bought the old at a great price.... Then immediately spent what I "saved" on lures lol. Go with the tried and true IMO.
  11. Agreed with the Alberto, I like it a lot. I've been researching this a lot and just did my spinning outfit with suffix 832 with a FC leader. Definitely look into the Alberto tho. Just my $.02
  12. Hey all, I was just wondering what the advantage is in the "smooth" braids like the power pro slick and the suffix 832? Is there a real advantage? If so, what exactly is it? As always, thanks!
  13. I know there are a few braid related threads going on right now, but I wanted to ask a more specific question. I think I am going to make the braid to flouro leader switch on my spinning setup. I really only have one spinning set tho, and was wondering if it is a disadvantage to use braid for all types of lures. Mainly it will be drop shot, tubes, shaky heads, senko. Also, what braid/size do you guys use for these setups? As always, thanks for the advice!!
  14. Veritas, love mine. Would buy another if I needed it.
  15. Good write up, very interesting. I've always been a FC user and have been thinking of changing, also curious what others will say.
  16. I just purchased a 6'6" MH avid today (not the split grip). The guy I was talking to at the local shop seemed like he knew his stuff, he was telling me that the split grip mayyyyyyybe might add some more sensitivity, maybe. But, as he explained, it's mainly just a newer and the more popular look. He told me to put both in my hands and whichever is more comfortable, buy. It was an easy decision for me, the split grip was too small in my hands and I was barely on any cork... I'd suggest trying them out and deciding that way. Good luck! P.s. The rod is sweet, very sweet lol.
  17. I say that as we are getting another 6" or so of snow today..... Ha!
  18. Just picked up my new rod/reel setup thanks to all of the helpful info from everyone here. I got a 6'6" St. Croix Avid spinning rod and a Pflueger Supreme spin reel (for an awesome price, I might add). Again, I just wanted to thank everyone who commented and helped me narrow down my choices. Now can't wait for all this ice to get off my lakes to go try it out!
  19. This seems to be a reoccurring thought throughout these posts. So I started looking at the president and the supreme and I really like them. Looks like there's sales on the last years supreme for a little more than the president right now because they just came out with their new supreme. Thank you for your opinion, it helps out a lot!
  20. It was on sale a few days ago, looks like it went back up yesterday.
  21. Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking as well. Thanks everyone for the input though! Time to start looking for more deals
  22. Interesting. It sounds like their BC are good but just kind of eh for their spinning models. That's kind of disappointing considering that they look very well built, online anyways.
  23. Good to know about their customer service. I went out to a local dicks sporting goods to see if I could mess around with one of these, of course they didn't have it.
  24. I've been looking for a good spinning reel for a St. Croix avid rod. I saw that cabelas has this reel on sale for $100, the SL30PTi model and it seems like a pretty good deal. Wondering if anybody has any experience with this reel. Thanks!
  25. Whoops.... Yes, that is exactly what I meant. That's why it pays to reread your posts! Ha Sorry for the confusion and thanks for catching that RW!
