  1. Last summer was abnormally cool with less humidity than I have ever experienced. If it's climate change I hope it stays like that. It was not a typical West Tn summer by any means.
  2. You are pretty much describing West Tenn weather 5-6 months a year. It gets hot 90-100+ and very humid here from May-sometimes Oct. Winter is hit or miss. One day 10 degrees and the next it may be 75. I had some of my best fishing ever last winter after 52 years living here.
  3. This is probably the answer. Ink dipping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmcdGmYexd8
  4. Happened just a few weeks ago while working on my boat at home. 52 y/o, first time for everything I guess
  5. If you use the suction cup make sure to have the camera tethered. My suction cup mount will not stay stuck to anything and it is brand new
  6. Also buy the longest boat you can afford and tow. Longer equals smoother ride.
  7. I have a very bad back now going on 20 years. I only have aluminum flatbottom and Mod V boats now so I try to avoid rough water when possible but that always isn't. I put some Tempress Navistyle Highbacks in both boats and am astounded at the difference they make with my back. Excellent support and they hold you snug to keep you from shifting around in the seat in rough water conditions. I can sit in these all day whereas the cheap Wallyworld seats I could only sit for 30 minutes before I had to get up and move around. Because of my legs not working well from my back injuries I usually sit while fishing.
  8. I have to chime in and repeat what others have already said. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING!!!! Your show is so unique and fun to watch. It is a refreshing breath of fresh air after sitting in my recliner and trying to watch all the Canook fishing shows that are also on that network . Really do enjoy getting to see the average everyday Joe trying to show you there little secret honey holes. Keep up the great work and wishing you many more seasons!!
  9. I've had back problems for about 20 years. Had surgery on L4-L5 in 1995 and was doing pretty well until I got rearended in 2001. After that accident my right leg would just collapse out from under me for no apparent reason and the doctors could never find the cause. Fished my first tournament of the season shortly after this happened and fell out of my 201 Stratos twice in a 30 minute span into 45 degree water. Rocking from large boat wakes. After that I came home and sold all 3 boats I had at the time and completely gave up fishing for 10 years (my only lifelong passion) until my leg finally started working halfway correct again in the spring of 2010. I no longer stand and fish for very long and mostly sit. The Tempress highbacks have been a godsend because of their comfort and support. They don't allow me to sway side to side like most seats when the boat gets to rocking. I have pain most every day but have learned to just bare it with only an occasional fist full of Motrin for pain relief.
  10. I think the biggest issue with Nitro boats is that in the early years they were much like the Bayliner brand. Built cheap and sold to large numbers of mostly beginner boaters that either could not afford or did not know how to properly maintain their vessels. Leave them out in the elements uncovered 24/7 365 days a year for years on end and stuff rots and breaks. Just because of the shear number of boats sold compared to other brands also gives the opportunity for more negative feedback. Their latest offering from around 2008 on up seem to be catching up with the competition in terms of both quality and also price. I would not hesitate purchasing a new Nitro if I could afford a new boat or needed one.
  11. They may be gone already, but Cabelas has the original Hero3 Black on sale today for $279 including the remote and battery and mounts! Free shipping available also plus $50 in reward points. EDIT All gone!!!!
  12. X3 My 1998 Dodge Quad cab with 5.2 V-8 only produces something like 200 Hp and towed a 201 Stratos for over 50k miles like it wasn't there.
  13. I have one from Northern Tool (same thing) that I built to use behind my Goldwing. Several thousand miles and no problems. Replace the grease they have the bearings packed in. It appears to be vasoline. Also at some point try to put some better quality tires on it just for peace of mind.
  14. Get a variable speed motor and problem solved. I have the same problem with my MK40 on my 8 ft BassHunter.
  15. Think you would be better off getting a stronger trolling motor rather than trying to run 2 at once. The additional drag created will offset much of the speed. Especially if you end up needing 2 batteries. Yeah more money but it is still a B.O.A.T. LOL
  16. Just my personal opinion, but during those years I am sure Skeeter built a better quality boat than Nitro. With their latest offerings though they are much closer together.
  17. Check out the Lowe - Crestliner Styker models. Similar bare bones boat but much higher quality IMHO. Priced similar.
  18. Gopro Hero3 Silver user here. I don't record continuous very often when fishing but use a 5 minute loop instead. Just stop and start a new loop every time I catch a fish or something is on video I want to save. As far as battery life 2 hours is about it but I always keep my camera plugged into the boats 12 volt system via cigarette lighter plug and can record as long as I want without having to worry about swapping batteries. 2 of my boats have cigarette plugs and my other boat I have a MK battery box that has 2 plugs in the top of it. GoPro is really the way to go. When you consider half the stuff you see on TV now is recorded with GOPro cameras that should tell you something about the video guality.
  19. Pretty much true. All of my units will work fine up to about 25 MPH. My boats all top out at 30-35 so that works fine. I have older 2D units mounted also for use at higher speeds.
  20. I have several Lowrance units. Elite 4 DSI GPS, Mark 4 GPS, and Elite 5 DSI GPS. I have a couple of each and the really nice thing about them is they all use the same mounts and the same transducers which makes swapping them out for whatever I want to use that day a 5 second job. I have been amazed at the images I get on these units. I am not nearly as fond of the Mark 4's non color display but it works just as well as the others. The Elite5 is by far my favorite with my failing eyesight, but all of my boats are smaller and sometimes the larger unit just gets in the way when I am fishing for different species.
  21. I have been considering mounting mine on the rear pedestal since I usually fish alone with just my dog, but it is a long walk to the back of the boat to reset the camera after each fish is caught. I don't use the remote function and find it clumbsy on the Iphone. My biggest issue is having a long enough charging cable to reach the camera however. I have rigged cigarette lighter plugs in all three of my boats to help alleviate that somewhat.
  22. I have been playing with mine for about a year now and have just used the adhesive mounts in various places on the boat and sometimes the head mount. Not real happy with the angles of any I am using right now but I try to keep my camera plugged into the 12 volt system on the boat since I fish for several hours and don't like swapping out batteries. I use a five minute loop when recording with mine. The best angles I have seen used were with the camera mounted up higher on a pole that captures most all the action but most that I have seen done this way had the camera swaying or vibrating excessively. I will just keep experimenting with mine until I fine something that finally makes me happy. The Adhesive mounts at least remove easily without leaving any residue behind and can often be stuck somewhere else.
